Replacing the Airstream Water Pump

- Ever had water pour out your fresh water tank while you're hooked to city water?
Fresh tank fill up on its own?
Water pump run for no good reason (and sound like a growling tyranasaurus??)j
You might need to replace your water pump.
It's cheaper and easier than you might think. With a screwdriver, flashlight and towel (and of course a new water pump), it takes about 10-15 minutes to do the swap.

Thanks! I need to do this and your video was just what I needed.
So glad you found us and that we could help! Wishing you all the best!
My pump sounds the same. Had it changed at the factory and for a few days it sounded soooo much quieter- then it went back to being loud again. Apparently, that’s just how it’s going to sound. Sigh. Ours is equally buried in a tiny cabinet- I’m impressed at how easy you made that look!
Even if ours weren't quieter after the replacement (which fortunately it is), it's still worth it to not have it constantly cycle and fill up the fresh water tank. It really is an easy replacement.

Great info on the water pump issues. Awesome procedure and cure. Thank you for sharing. Take care and continued safe travels. Dave.
Thanks Dave. It was an easy fix (and I much prefer those!).

Subscribing because I was walking in California and read the back of the airstream
Thanks so much for being here! We appreciate it!
I didn’t catch if you installed the missing pair of screws, but I would have added them. The motor startup torque will try and rock the pump and second the pair of screws would counteract that motion. I am a mechanical engineer in machine tool business. There some things that puzzle me when I have worked on our Bambi, like the solar charge control that was laying loose on the floor in it’s compartment under our bed. Need to remount it on a vertical surface per mfg instruction for proper heat dissipation. Not sure if that was Airstream or the dealer that may have added the solar option?
I'm not an engineer, but you and I do think alike about the screws. I put the missing screws in. Anything just laying loose (or any other kind of loose) makes me crazy and has to be secured.
