Mini gun for the Osprey Cool!
A Gunship version of the V22 was postulated in Dale Browns book 'Hammerheads', on that version of rh V22 it had a 20mm Chain Gun on one side of the fuselage and a stinger pod that could be motored out in to firing position, and retracted for reloading targeting for both was done through a chin mounted sensor ball, pity they limited the up armament on these V22 to just the mini-gun.
The USS Nimitz is the FIRST of its class. Hence, it's called the Nimitz class.

Only added when needed. That’s like saying go to bed butt naked and when all hell breaks loose around you just take your time in getting dressed!

We did the testing for that entire system in 2008 prior to our first Cv22 deployment...in that short timeframe of just 2 months, we couldnt get it tweaked enough to consistently fire within 30 degress of the commanded position...we gave it all to the Marines, including the simulator...plus, the mini just didnt have the standoff from the heavy machine gun ground threat that made it ractically sound, needed a bigger chain gun ...we went anyways, just 1 50 cal on the ramp, Iraq, 09
They have one that mounts to the back of the ramp off the tail. Those are pretty cool to see
It’s a pain in the grass. It gets in the way when loading or off loading. You have to pull the mount pins out and move it aside. More than one ramp mounted gun was lost in Afghanistan when the pins didn’t get put back in correctly
Like with all our new equipment comes struggles as w the f35,Ford carrier,v22 osprey had many struggles. Now that it's much better it's incredible.

Id assume so they both serve essentially the same purposes for both branches afaik
@@HeroOfTheDay16 they dont have the same mission, and the Air Force gave them to the Marines, as it wasn't needed, I was a crew chief on V-22's in the Air Force for 7 years and this is what we were told. They have actually been out as long as the CV-22 but nobody ever thought they were necessary this is the first time I have ever seen one tbh. if you think about it during conditions were you have brown out conditions your going to flood your cabin with dust and the weapon will likely become jammed or unusable because of the debris. Also I wouldn't call them secret as almost every video game featuring the aircraft has one mounted at the bottom.

Not mean to be used straight on attacks, mostly just provide cover or suppression fire.

The minigun concept was tried years ago - it failed because of the arc of the propellers and the limited access to the crew compartment
Failed largely due to restrictive ROEs and the nausea of the crew member who was operating the gun via video monitor.
May be it could neutralize incoming attracts as well..

1500 rounds isn't enough with that rate of fire. Should be more like ten times that. Throw in some laser guided munitions.

Ok, cool & all but a recoil force that far from the wing lift line means there is an accuracy penalty., essentially tilting the A/C during firing.., a system like the AC-130 where the gun is inside the A/C in a level plane with the other weapons makes a firmer platform & accuracies are much improved.., just sayin.., a better use of a non-recoiling weapon would really be something special for “Special Forces”..,

In the near future AI will be operating that Gatling gun for Ariel defence I guess.
The Gun pushes the plane. The Avenger 30mm was 8 years of tried that..tried that..and so on! Make a gun that suits Hyper sonic speeds and 4500 RPM. There is a reason the 20 mm gun port is closed when at that whole 1500 MPH speed. The Dynamic forces on an open port would rip the wing off. Light beams would be the option.
Ospreys were originally supposed to have chin turrets.
If it works for osprey then it should works with the Ghost Rider as well.
I suppose a 25mm 3 barreled Gatling gun would be overkill.

The underslung cannon was tits on a boar hog. If he’s on the ground it is completely useless and at all times it’s taking away from the max cargo it can carry.

상대가 청소년급만 되도 저런 무기 사용못한다...
물론, 한 국가의 무기는 수준별로 다양하게 있어야 한다. 위 무기도 필요는하다..
그러나, 엄밀히... 낮은등급의 무기이다... 비싸기는 더럽게 비싼 낮은 등급의 무기..
그래서, 저런 무기는 주 임무는 수송쪽으로.. 보조임무는 저런 낮은 등급의 무기로 사용해야할듯..
