Good video ! For those asking about priming the new filter i used a syringe and filled until fuel was visible at the top of all 3 holes. It takes a while but slow filling reduces airlocks you will see air bubbles coming out and will prevent problems. You can do this on your workbench then use the little plugs that came with the new filter to block the holes whilst you re fit it.

Hi! I'm not sure if you still checking the comments for this, or anyone else will read this.
When you said we can use a thin funnel, which whole we have to fill in? Also is that a problem if there is a little air goes on still as this method is not that effective as you using a primer tool?
    Thanks for uploading the video✌️

Litlle tip, its alot easier to take out the filter with the holder and then un screw as its not much space in those connect vans. But thumbs up for tutoral.

This is a good video. I forgot to fill up the filter. The engine did not start, even after a lot of trying. Had to take it off again to fill it up. Strange cause on my fiesta diesel I didn't do it either and it worked perfect. Anyway I had better watched this vid before doing the job :-)

Hi, just bought a 2010 connect and was browsing TH-cam for videos. Did you have an issue with the fuel system or was it a service item to replace the fuel system? I assume you primed the filter via the input pipe, is there a level you checked or just fill till it over flows?

Heya Gerard, bit OT here but wonder can you help if you see this: Removing the Air Intake Manifold, do both the exhaust manifold & EGR cooler need to also come off to do this? The Haynes Manual is unclear as the air intake instructions are nested under the section on removing the EGR.
It's for a 2007 Transit Connect 220 hi-top. Thanks for putting these videos up too, they're a great resource. Wish you were still in the country!

No problem, put fuel in the tank, re prime the fuel filter to max level and have a fully charged battery. it will take lots of cranking on & off but you might eliminate the air out of the system this way, other wise it would be bleeding at injector pipes, (someone experienced for that)
      I hope this helps

I wish that providing the vehicle location would be a good place to start. Show the vehicle, then zoom in, to show the location on the vehicle. For those of us that haven't changed the fuel filter, or don't even know where it is located, this should be a common since starting point :-(

  • @sanderslongdrive
    @sanderslongdrive 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

THE PROBLEM WITH FORDS - is that they spend ages designing the most difficult way to instal every part.
'Little tip, its alot easier to take out the filter with the holder and then unscrew as its not much space in those 'Connect vans.' But thumbs up for tutoral.' (ReD)
Nice in theory but in my 2007 even a 2lbs hammer could not belt out the holder from its two slide in clips!
You may find, like me, that if you remove the rad. hose pipe you will then gain access to the filter strap screw. You may then find that such is chavelled to hell and can't be removed. What to do?
Whilst you can possibly simply slide out the old filter one can almost guarantee that the new filter is 2 thou. wider and won't slide in, even after lubricating its shell!
So, bottom line, is that the strap has to be cut off. It's hard to hack saw through the screw and one immediately then thinks '4" angle grinder.' NO, NO, NO, NO!!!!!! Very likely the use of such will cause a fire.
Cover up everything except where the screw joins the two halves of the strap's clasp, then make a few drill holes there with your electric drill before using a large screwdriver to burst open the clasp.
After the new filter has been inserted make good the broken clasp with a powerful cable tie, then trim such with a craft knife.

You're supposed to start the engine once you take the old filter out to burn the excess fuel and air out. Before putting the new filter in. Let the engine run until it cuts out and then put the new filter in filled with fuel. That's the correct way. You missed that out

Doing the job Gerard's way eliminates the need for bleeding the system, if you start engine without filter or empty filter you are going to get problems because the system will be full of air and let me tell you with a connect van you will be sorry, they can be pigs to get going, i am one of the lucky ones that know an easy way to start them so it don't bother me but the diy man.
