The inheritance games were really good! Personally I feel like it could’ve been just a longer standalone (the second book could have been skipped…) but it was a really fun read that was good for my slump!

Happy belated birthday!!! I only read Lily Gold for the 3m1f smut now. All of those books have the same- one man is a grump, one man is super flirty, and one man is shy. Plus every time there’s the same big fight where they’re unhappy but then they get back together.

For your high fantasy era, I recommend Priory of the Orange Tree and A Day of Fallen Night by Samantha Shannon if you’re wanting something written by a woman that’s queer and dragon-centric and is just really good but still digestible despite the high page counts
i tried to read those a while ago but got so bored… i will have to retry!! now that i am in my AD era (after lotr lol)

I went and watched all of the LOTR too which I seen then back when they 1st came out and it started a huge obsession the books are ahhhhmazing
I was like 11ish when the first LotR movie came out. Had zero interest when it came out. Walked into the living room where my family was watching it, caught sight of Legolas and was instantly enthralled. Because of my crush on Legolas, I became obsessed with the movies and went on to read and love the books. Orlando Bloom was my celebrity crush all through my teens.

I am so happy you found the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit!!!! Legolas’ friendship with Gimli is much better in the books. The Hobbit deviates from the book but what movie doesn’t. I really hope you enjoy them when you read them

I actually really liked Galatea! I’ve heard some discourse about it, but keeping in mind that it’s a short story it’s pretty good and ofc it’s well written (Madeline Miller will never do me dirty)
The broken bonds series got me out of a reading slump. It was so bad it was good for me, read the first 5 books until I finally got fed up halfway through book 6 😂
I'm 36 and was lucky enough to watch all the Lord of the Rings movies when they originally came out when I was a teen at the movies

You have to read Faking with benefits by Lily Gold!! Was it National Geographic? No but it was good fun. Also I screamed when you hauled The Inheritance Games. I love the series soooo much the characters are great and the story is twisty!!

Hey girls! If u want to read more Lily Gold but not the vibe of tdb I have read them all and would say that tdb is an outlier w the crime mystery angle. If ur looking for damsel in distress maybe the mountain men one is for u bc it’s like an English tourist getting lost in a Swedish snowstorm. I really enjoyed 2/3 relationships in faking with benefits but they’re podcasters (red flag) and one of them worked at her high school! So icky but the other two men are age appropriate and iirc nice.
I’m so easily influenced lol if you’re having a high fantasy phase I am absolutely gonna end up finally having a high fantasy phase
I think you should finish the Gallagher girls. The rest of the series gets more serious and has higher stakes. I still love them as an adult.

i havent seen the hobbit yet!! but i guarantee i’d probably be bored watching the movies at home vs the theater so it was a unique situation… but i also just finished playing skyrim this year for the first time and it reminded me of that in the best way
If I can chime in - the hobbit movies are horrible. They have none of the charm and appeal of LOTR, it's like comparing an ai genrrated imagine to the mona lisaxD if you are really not into fantasy, then you might still not like it but just from a movie quality standpoint is it miles better!

With the first book, the author probs came from a state where 16 is of “legal age”. Makes me barf as an adult now thinking 16 can be legal and authors need to stop having teens get with full grown adults 🤮

No shade for difference in opinions but I feel so many newer releases have crazy high ratings and are trash, I have unpopular opinions on why as well and don’t want trolls to come for me, reading has become popularized and thus the influx of trash and influence is for $ not for the actual content
