I was constantly kicked out of my house as a teen and permanently kicked out at 17, because I left the house to see my gf and I forgot to tell anyone where I was going (a pretty stupid reason if you ask me). Luckily, I had a few friendly teachers that took the time to hear out my situation. They let me sleep in the classrooms, since we didn’t have any shelters that would take me nearby. Thanks to their generosity, I’m not doing stupid shit, homeless on the streets, and I just recently became the first person in my family to graduate highschool. I achieved this, but it doesn’t even feel like an accomplishment, given the circumstances. The future is like a paralyzing void of uncertainty that I don’t want to step through. All I wanna do is write music all day and chances are, that’s not gonna get me anywhere, or at least, that’s what I’ve been told my whole life. Although a hundred million others share my dreams and that makes me irrelevant, I’ll persist in my schemes for the hell of it. Thx for reading my lil vent. 🙏 💗

I'm sorry you had to deal with that experience, alot of the time our accomplishments don't feel like they should due to our current circumstances, congratulations on graduating high school, be proud, Keep writing and keep sharing ❤️

To graduate is a massive achievement given the circumstances.
I was thrown out at 16 (1994). Lived in an abandoned house for about 6 months, and started my working career instead. Graduating is the right route. Not saying I am in the wrong life. I have a job that pays more than the bills....ish. I want for nothing. But if that education would have happened instead......could have had my dream career.
My parents and I were not anywhere near well. But time can heal everything my friend. Look at me. I now, some 25 years later live in the home my parents had. Mom said for me to have it, as I was the responsible one in the family. (A polar contrast to 16)
But it never goes away. What happened. Being tossed out. I kind of lied when I said I want for nothing.
I want for nothing......but the ability not to toss people out of my life, before the chance is given for them to even try to toss me out. That is the damage done.

I went thru the same shit, my mom did Valium, weed and drank the whole time growing up, the belt and a paddle was common, got kicked out numerous times, last time was my 16 birthday, she never wished me a happy day, beat me with a belt so much I had welts on my legs and she told me to leave, then when she found me at my friends sent me flowers apologizing saying she would never do it again. 10 years ago her behavior to me was worse, haven’t talked to her in 10 yeats

For more clarity on eminems past with his mother, listen to "my mom". It goes over what she did to him as a child in more detail.
Also, the album version of this song has more by nate ruess at the end. Not sure why they cut it out for the music video. I really like that part and I wish more reactors heard it, but they always watch the music video.

Look how far you've come Cliff. And all the positivity you've spread along the way. I rarely see anyone in any avenue of TH-cam that goes as far out of their way to try and be there for their subscribers/fans as you do. As someone who left home at age 12 shortly after my father passed away, i feel the way this song hits you, god knows it could describe my own history with my mom just as much. But the way you carry yourself and the attitude you bring, shows just how much you've been able to grow despite the obstacles we all face.
Not sure that this comment really had a point besides saying that i feel for the pain this song carries for you and thank you for all you do.

I never knew this song existed until the beginning of December of 2020. The lyrics really resonated with me because my mom and I barely talked and when we did she made me feel likeI was ruining her day by calling and like she preferred to just act like my sister was her only child. We ended up having one decent conversation in January 2020 and honestly I wish that wouldve been our last conversation before she suddenly passed away on Dec 19/2020. My sister went to her house to spend Christmas with her like they did just the 2 of them and found her. Unfortunately she had a stroke. I feel horrible admitting this but I said unfortunately because our real last conversation was in April 2020. Her last words to me were "I gotta go before you give me a stroke". Sorry to ruin everyones day with that story.

When I heard this song it broke me. I still can’t listen to it without crying. I went through it and still go thought it with my mom until this day. From foster homes, her religion , drugs, alcohol, abusive boyfriends, my brothers got taken away at 6-8 years old also. I was the one hustling at 12 selling things to feed my brothers. I’m 32. Now and she still comes around to cause problems with me and my family no matter how much I try to distance her.

Another tragedy due to the TH-cam commenters requesting songs... just like Phenomenal, the music video to Headlights is missing an AMAZING verse that got cut for the sake of the video. In the future Cliff, if you could, assume all the commenters are dumb and check the length of the video vs. the audio and see if there's a difference. I really hope you go back to this one AND Phenomenal and check out those missing verses.
Also, for when it eventually gets requested (if it hasn't already), the song Beautiful from Relapse - great song, but I'm 99% sure the music video is missing a verse and is also censored.

sadly enough this song hits for both of my parents, mom was a drug addict who left at 5 and came back around 13 and i saw her 4 times in those 8 years, my mom developed high level schizophrenia and was never my mom, we fought so much over religion, music i liked, plus so many things more but i made the one mistake when i was 16 that i punched my mom 1 time during an argument which she hit me with the door made me drop was i was cleaning up then made me clean it again, slapped me across the face. the punch was all of my inner hatred she caused me since i was 5, my mind is so vivid of the day she left its like a movie clip that has cycled through my brain for nearly 30 years now. i doubt ill ever see her again and ill never get to apologize to her as an adult. ive seen her twice in like the last 10+ years and last time i saw her her mental state was so bad she couldnt remember most details of her life and she inserted scenerios that never happened.
my dad verbally abused me over every little thing i did wrong. didnt turn the light off?? verbal abuse...forgot to put my cup away.....verbal abuse and it only got worse over the bigger things. i have had mental health problems all my life and my dad never took them serious despite ending up in psych inpatient at 15 for suicide that i didnt do becuase my friend i told buy to called the cops. once i was 18 he refused to pay for my insurance despite having asthma and mental health problems so i didnt have insurance for a decade. it took him until my late 20's for him to understand anything about me. my dad was adopted and his parents would verbally and physically abuse him, he was able to not replicate the physical abuse but the verbal abuse is nearly impossible to stop for your first child. things in our relationship now are much much better than it ever was
so my aunt and grandma raised me while my dad worked 5-6 days a week and 12-16 hour work days including travel so he was far from a dead beat and provided me with a lot and would do things for me but i would have traded all the shit he would buy me for not having to deal with verbal abuse and seeing him more than a few days a week until i was ending middle school

You should react to shadow of a celebrity by Nate Kane. It's a short song, but Nate Kane's real name is Nathan Mathers. Eminem's little brother.

I also wanted to say this song was from revival and I honestly think the album wasn't Eminem or Slim Shady Revival all the songs on it was a full Marshall album when sometimes we might get 1 or 2 songs but the Album was all Marshall No Em No Slim and was almost like he's 12 steps publicly apology to Kim n he's Mom and castle n arose and it has so much heart in the album

In this song he's referring to his bio dad leaving when he was a baby...not his step father...

Honestly, as someone who had/has really crappy parents, I can relate to a lot of Eminem’s songs. But, some of them did go a little too far sometimes, I think. Because a lot of the time, people/parents do these things because they’re sick. And that doesn’t excuse what they did. But, there should be some level of empathy, I think. Even if you don’t forget the things they did. And this song is both beauty d incredibly mature. And I never thought we would get a song like this from him.

Please you gotta do some reactions to XXXTENTACION. His live concerts and live speeches are incredible. Also I recommend Vice City, I Spoke To The Devil In Miami He Said Everything Would Be Fine, and Train Food. (There's hundreds more)
