That tank is amazing!!! So the F Zone will break your thumb with the lid buckles and requires you to manually prime it. It’s a trap, Bentley! Don’t let that filter take you out. 😂😂😂
First off thanks for make the video for me lol..... Secondly the priming on the fancy boy is exactly the same way as the Eheim 2217..You get use to it.. Tank looks awesome 👌..
Great video. Im super impressed by how quiet you said it is. Any chance you could measure the decibels with a smartphone app and post in the comments? Really thinking about buying one of these filters.
I have that same issue with my surface skimmer, I keep a ball valve on the outflow of my canister and just keep it adjusted at a rate that doesnt suck in air. I dont have an adjustable pump like the FZone. I also have the same risers for my 3.0 light and they're great.
Great review, and I am planning to get this filter, my question is, is there a way to change DC pump? as I see there is a stronger DC pump available on f zone website.
Tank is coming along nicely. You've got the fighter jet of cannister filters there. To be honest, I've never used cannisters on anything smaller than a 55, just seems like overkill to me but I get what you're trying to do there. The fact that it is so quiet is a big plus for me. I am very noise sensitive, HATE noisy pumps.
This is a 40g breeder on a rack that was designed for my previous breeding tanks. It's not a rack you can buy at a store it was custom built, but it fits 40 breeders well.
I wish more canister filters would use DC pumps, since I got into salty tanks, DC pumps run everything. they are so quiet and I love that I can control the flow from the pump. Fallen Forest is looking really good!
@@BentleyPascoe I just think it's funny companies like fluval, still use loud AC pumps. It's 2023, we should have DC options for the popular canisters and HOBs. No hate on fluval, just my thoughts
Was like 15 seconds in and was like hmm wonder which plant that rainbow came in on. One thing I would point out is might be good to do a sound check on all the different speeds as it's quiet on low but how is it on high?!? I've been wanting risers for my fluval for a long time so thanks for sharing. Thankfully I can up my light to compensate for the loss of parr due to risers.
Regarding the issue of purging air. Fill it as you were and try to lean it on its side (preferably on a pad or foam) so that it can intake a little bit of water and prime the pump itself. Maybe that'll work to start the siphon.
You should try the neo plastic pipes has the skimmer on the out flow I can run my Fzone filter full tilt ! The neo pipes are 60 bucks from buce plant I think
I'm still super early on this one. I don't think it's as convenient as something like Oase for maintenance, but for raw capacity it's pretty nuts. I'm in the 7/10 camp currently (keep in mind, no filter to me on the market is a 10/10)
The tank is looking good! What size hat do you wear? I want to send you a Montgomery Biscuits baseball cap. They are a minor league team in Montgomery, AL and someone decided they should be the biscuits. Their mascot makes me giggle.
I thought you were going to say "it's so loud" and then you said "it's so quiet" :( On that fzone, probably a lot of the bigger canisters, I understand why, but it would've been better in my view that the pump is rotated 90 degrees so the top output is a side output. The skimmer, is there an option to remove it or not with these pipes? Sometimes you can gate the skimmer to be more or less of the input.
We'll see as it gets more time and especially a maintenance or two. I think if I wanted something super high end possibly. The DC pump is amazing, but I wonder if I would just be better off at that price tag looking into a sump.
i have the same filter. the way it suck in co2 or air and expel it doesn’t bother me. I just can’t stand the pump. The connectors are absolutely atrocious. they made from super brittle and flimsy plastic that cracked so easily and they’re expensive and take awhile to order. I like the canister except for the ring where the o-ring sit. the weld to affixed that ring starting to rust after 6 months. What I did was replacing the org pump with a Pan World PX40 and sealed the bottom of the metal ring with a thick layer of silicone. Working like a champ now but I would not buy it again. I’m building one now using 10’ schedule 40 pvc pipe. it cost the same as buying a new Ashtra but much more reliable and hold 2x amount of filter media.
I love the fallen forest aquarium. Can’t wait to see what the plants will like in two more months. 👍🏽

0:43 "it is" 😏
I have those same risers, but for my Aquasky - I love them!!
Tank is looking great!
Love the look of that tank :)
This tank is cool but that tiger lotus makes it 10x cooler! I definitely need one of those!

I'm really liking the risers so far
That's an advantage of the DC pump, they are so incredibly quiet. I use an innovative marine DC return pump and it doesn't make any noise whatsoever.
Thank you for checking the noise 😊
Still too noisy for me, I would bet a bit less than 20db

Looks great! Could you tell us how big this tank is, and tell us what you are using for a stand?

Hi Bentley, great video as always, appreciate you sharing...quick question...can you recommend an affordable test kit that measures potassium?
API has an individual Potassium test you can find online that isn't too much.
I wish the F zone filters were available here in Australia 🇦🇺 I’d really like one
@@jayz600 I have no problem getting Seachem products, it’s the F zone filter that I want

I've pushed it up through 6 and no noticeable pump noise, just sucking in a lot of air because of the glassware

I like the scape. Hopefully that lily doesn't outgrow it and jist fold leaves across the surface!
I'll be trimming leaves that get too big or cause problems. I trimmed 1 leaf from each side before filming because they were too tall.

Any links for that new fertilizer that you are trying out ?
I don't think he has his website up yet. I'll get in touch and try to get an update when I do my full review
👍🏻👍🏻

It's removable, I might look at a bushing or some such to keep it more snug.
The tank looks really good Bentley. With all the add on’s and work arounds would you consider using this filter on other tanks?

Does your skimmer have adjustable flow through the bottom to fine tune the skimmer? Mine has a wedge pipe adjustment.
Yes and I've been working on fine tuning it. So far wide open has been best. There's a lot to tinker with
Bentley, I can't pay attention to the video because you're trolling me with the two high K and one warm white light bulb in your chandelier.

Mate I was trying with lotus plant like 4 times all die rest of my plants doing more then good any advice on lotus green or red PLEASE 🙏
They are a heavy root feeders. You also can't bury the bulb. So if you can, put a fresh root tab under the spot you want them, then plant.
isn't F zone that place Ozzyman is always sending people ?
🤣
Nana golden is just too hard to keep. I've melted over 200 of them and will never bring them in again lol.
