Tennessee 2023 - Part 1 (Great Smoky Mountain Railroad)

On our final leg of our 2023 summer trip. We visited Tennessee and the Great Smokey Mountain National Park! On our first day there, we traveled down into North Carolina to the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad in Bryson City. We took a ride with our friends, the Simmons, along Fontana Lake, into the Nantahala Gorge, to the Nantahala Outdoor Center where we reversed and headed back to Bryson City. That morning, there was a rock slide in the Great Smokey Mountain National Park which closed Hwy 441 / Newfound Gap Road. We had to detour which caused us to almost miss the train! Fortunately, we made it and created some lasting memories with family and friends!
