    Thx for the video. It was very helpful. Just a note that I live in Canada and our vehicle wheel bearings are outside at 40 below and wheel bearings don’t get moisture. Have a nice day.

    Yogi the hammer trick works very well but a claw hammer is for a carpenter. I know it sounds dumb but a hammer is not a hammer. A 3 pound drilling hammer would have worked much better. There is not enough energy in a claw hammer to move a press fit bearing. That has been my experience anyway. Now the removal tool is awesome and a little bit of oil on the threads when using it it should last a long time. If I owned the tool I would be using that instead of the hammer... Yes freeze the bearings and a little heat on the hub and they will fall in place a light hit to seat.

      Shrinks the metal just a smidgen (highly technical term) to allow the bearing to be installed a touch easier.

      The freezer won't give u much. The rim is aluminum. It's thermal expansion is .000013 inches per degree Fahrenheit. Steel (the bearing) is .0000098.

    Why didn't he like the 21 rim. Does he have stock front shocks? Most guys that have 21's, have after market shocks to wear it doesn't nose dive as bad when braking or in the twisties.

  • @armengureghian4141
    @armengureghian4141 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I’m not trying to be disrespectful hitting a wheel bearing with a metal object like a hammer is incorrect the hole in the middle of that tool is for the threaded rod so that you can pull the wheel bearing in without impacting it if that were an antilock wheel bearing that is color-coded it would be ruined because of the impact and demagnetization from the impact.

    A quick question why did the Baron's being the freezer never heard of that before pretty cool

    • @YogisCycleService
      @YogisCycleService  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you put them in the freezer they shrink ever so slightly and it helps them seat in the hole a little better. Worked like a champ when I put new bearings in my cam plate. I heated the cam plate in the oven for 20 min on a low setting and had the bearings in the freezer and they literally dropped in the hole without needing any kind of press.

    • @chuckhabrack3330
      @chuckhabrack3330 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The bearing "shrink" in the cold temps. Just like they expand in hot temps. That little bit of shrinking helps them go in easier. Yes there is a limit to the shrink and expand. Yogi could have heated the rim with a propane torch to get it to expand, it dose not take a lot of heat but a few hundred degrees and it will grow enough for a press fit bearing to go in with little to no resistance. Though heating too hot and you can ruin things. Freezer wont get steel "too cold:"

    • @hawkdsl
      @hawkdsl 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A quick tip here; skip the freezer... Use a heat gun to expand the bearing cup in the wheel itself. Metal expands more then it shrinks. heat it all around the bearing for about 3 minutes.. keep the heat on the wheel and not the bearing. Good for both pulling and pressing.
