When 21 goals and 19 assists in the league and 5 goals in the CL isn't enough for Caroline Graham Hansen to win it she will sadly never win it. All respect to Aitana she is a great player and unlike the journalists that picks the winner I have watched all of Barcelona's matches but she isn't on the same level as Caroline. Putellas could possibly play against 13, Maybe 14 yo men. Her vision of the game and passing skills are out of the World.
They had long season and played all Champions League matches so key players were just tired. Remember that they are current World Champions though. Spain won Nation’s League too.

At the club level, most of the teams that Barcelona play against, even in the Champions League, are still very very weak, and so it's easy for a skilled player like Bonmati to look so invincible and accumulate such a highlight reel. The Olympics, and Spain's shattering losses to Brazil and Germany, showed the true weakness of the female Spanish players - they lack pure straight line speed and pure athleticism (that's why they love tikki- takka - they need to slow their opponents down to their speed level). At the club level, Barcelona makes up for this with some big fast non-Spanish European players that can make up for the weaknesses of their Spanish players. The Ballon D'Or is fundamentally a French/European award, so yeah, Bonmati is great for the current women's game in Europe.

What I saw was lots and lots of flopping by the Spanish players, and the refs giving them EVERY.SINGLE.CALL. The USWNT side that was in the World Cup had lots of aging players that should have retired two years ago, as well as a coach who didn't know what he was doing. The ref favoritism for Spain didn't happen in the Olympics, and Brazil basically mugged and manhandled the Spanish players at will, the refs let play go on, and the Spanish players were helpless to fight off the much more physical and oh, so much FASTER Brazil side. And then, of course, when Brazil played the USWNT in the final, yeh, this much younger and revamped version of the USWNT, now coached by the incomparable Emma Hayes, was able to match that speed and physicality, and had even more speed than the Brazilians.
