@@HeadFamilyFarm you're welcome 😊
I'm surprised that you didn't wear a mask cleaning the chicken coop. That's a dusty, stinky jobs. Been there done that.
Nice job on the coop I also am thinking if changing out my run also same substance as yours was to sand we live in northern wisconsin so not sure how the sand will do in cold weather im sure fine yours looks very nice
Hi! Thank you, sand won’t hold or generate any heat but the need for that would depend on your coop setup. It’s been wonderful so far!
I heard that you had to be careful about using sand. What kind did you use. Thank you. I loved your silkies
Ours is course construction sand. There’s a small risk of crop impaction if they’re eating sand along with their feed, but we have not had any issues.
Bet you didn't know, we worked with them at the ambulance service and he was my partner on the truck many many times!!!
Who do you mean?
The Emersons
My neighbor gave me 3 baby chicks I don't even know what they are but there starting to fly now but still to little to put with my big chickens and my turkey I'm almost done building a new coop and run
Hi I am a Made It from Maymay’s channel
Welcome to the farm! Thank you for watching!
Do you have an update how you feel now about the sand bedding? Does it clean up as easily as you thought? What kind of sand did you use?
It does clean up well, but it needs to remain completely dry to stay easy maintenance. If it gets wet it’s as good as hard ground.
Where did you find the cones for your buckets…such a great idea
Amazon! They’re dock piling caps. If you have a Marine store near you they may have them.

Nice setup. Where did you get those cones ?

Maymay made it
Welcome to the farm! Thank you for watching!
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
Hope you guys are doing well miss seeing y'all, Question...when do I need to switch my chickens from grower feed to layer feed .... everyone has a different opinion in my research so was wondering if you could tell me what you would do? Please and thank you.. Have a blessed day.
Hi Lorie, 5 and a half to 6 months. It is ok to wait until you see the first egg to switch them but by 6 months most breeds are ready to start laying.
💖💖🙏🙏💖💖
Hi!
I have heard of people using used coffee grounds. What are your thoughts on that as bedding?
I’ve used it before when brooding chicks and for some of my bantams. As soon as it gets wet it stains no matter what it says on the bag. I have a funny story about using some with baby ducks…they brewed their own coffee in the waterer in the first 5 minutes 😅
It smells nice but it’s not an effective bedding.
Is your chicken yard on concrete
Yes, this coop is on a large concrete slab.
Found you from @WalkerFarmFam!
Welcome to the farm! We had a wonderful time meeting them this weekend. Thank you for watching!
