    Don't even have raptors but compared to some other install vids out there this is by far the best! Gotta love when channels add "how to" in the title and actually do it - instead of just standing in the garage talking about it... Keep it up man

    Great video, I have Vexus 189c and just bought the raptors. The way you filmed and make the vid was very clear. I'm thinking about installing my own raptors now.

    Love the video. Very clear and concise instructions. Appreciate how you show what tools and parts will be needed for each step. I am picking up my new Vexus 1880 in a couple of weeks and like you I wasn’t able to afford everything I wanted so I will installing the shallow water anchors later this year. Do a review about how the anchors worked after using them for a while. Thanks

      I am happy you liked the video. My goal was to make it easier for someone on the fence about installing them. If you prepare and take your time it is a pretty straight forward installation. Thanks for the video suggestion. As I get started with my channel coming up with good content is one of the harder things to do. Tight lines!

    I noticed when removing the ladder that 2 bottom inboard screws are into fiberglass. I found similar on the starboard side .

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are working on an aluminum Vexus I think what you are referring to is the spray in flotation foam they use.

    Your video was most helpful when I installed a 8ft Raptor on my Vexus AVX 181 on the starboard side. I decided I needed another Raptor for the port side and finally located one.
    Debating on whether or not to install an E Ladder or All Aboard Ladder since the factory ladder cannot be used. Do you have any regrets not going with one of these systems? Any reason you didn’t go that route?
    Thanks
    Brad

      Hi Brad, Main reason I did not go with another ladder option was budget at the time. I need to get back at looking for a solution. Sorry I don't have any feedback for you on the options out there. Thanks for watching!

    An excellent video! When stowed (fully vertical) they look like they are so close to the motor.
    Is there enough room for the motor to turn fully without interfering with the Raptors?

    I have a white 1980 with Evinrude. Been really debating the need for Raptors, but think I am gonna install them....Did you notice the extra weight causing the boat to float a little lower? Great job BTW!

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you and thank you for watching! The extra weight does make boat sit a little lower in the back end, but nothing drastic or very noticeable. The benefit of having them far outweighs that issue, IMO. When I purchased I researched thoroughly and at the time Raptor was lighter overall including their mounts than Power Pole.

    The caps on the hoses were off when I received mine. How do I know which is which?

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the caps came off the hoses on the raptors themselves, you will need to contact Minn Kota for assistance. If they came off the pumps the pumps have a DN and Up stamped in the metal close to the attachment points for the hoses. Thanks for watching!

    • @Mudnuri
      @Mudnuri 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@zevoutdoors7194 Wow! Thank you for the quick response.
      I went back to the owners manual and found on page 20: "The hose with the black cap (down) extends further..."
      So, in extending them both, one is longer than the other and would be the down/ black.

    what kind and where did you get brakets

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are MinnKota Brackets. You will need a starboard and port side bracket for dual mount. They are available at same places as Raptors. If you look online you will find many places. I know Tacklewarehouse has them. Vexus recommended the 6" for my 1980. You may want to contact them for your specific model.

    Would one Raptor hold a 21ft Tritoon w/ 150hp (no Jack plate) on a sandbar?
    I don’t fish on my Tritoon. It’s simply a sandbar party pad. I’d love to put one Raptor on the back. I want it on the back so I can use it when I beach the boat. Will this work for me?

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not have experience with this size of boat and a single anchor. If you are not in heavy current situations and able to beach front of the boat I would think a single unit would be sufficient to anchor boat. Your best bet would be to contact Minn Kota and get their thoughts.

    How do you get the battery out now?

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You would need to unstrap and rotate or move center battery to take out port and/or starboard battery. Vexus gives you plenty of room in the battery compartment to move things around for replacement and maintenance.

  • @madbasd
    @madbasd 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do the raptors fold down for storage?

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is one draw back to the Raptors, like Power Poles they do not fold down. You have to lower them to about motor height when entering and exiting a standard height garage door. In my opinion a small price to pay for having them on the boat. Now that I have had them installed for a while, I can tell you I love having them!

    • @greygoose117
      @greygoose117 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they do, contact Rick at hydrilla gear website, they make fold down brackets for all shallow water anchors

  • @Rob-tl9md
    @Rob-tl9md 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    How you get that out of garage?

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rob. Unfortunately you have to lower them part way going in and out, unless you have a taller garage door. The nice thing is, Minnkota gives you plenty of remotes, so I keep one in the cab of my truck. I still have to get out, but do not have to walk all the way back to the boat.

  • @tomheun3019
    @tomheun3019 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would of ran the lines threw the motor hose. More clean no drilling into hull. And small hole out the back of motor hose out to the raptors.

    • @zevoutdoors7194
      @zevoutdoors7194  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment! If you have room for all four hydraulic hoses in your motor hose that would be a great alternative.

    • @Rob-tl9md

      They are usually stacked full.
