First time I have heard the point about making the breadboard end longer that the table width. Makes sense to me. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.
They say happy wife happy life, but I say happy mom means you didn't did it wrong and she did it all wright rasing you.. people who look after their parents are highly respectful people in my book. Like every time great project. Perfect design and looks amazing. Strangely I finished my project yesterday for my mom too. Whish I could share with you. Thanks for sharing.
Hey there just wanted to throw a tip your way. Seen the box of Scott's rags and wanted to let you know for the same price as a box (depending on where you get them from) at Sam's you can get a pack of 12 rolls. Which has WAY more than the box.
A quick way to round over the tenons is to clamp the piece in your vice and with a strip of 120 grit sand paper, drape it over the tenon and with downward pressure, pull each side back and forth (like shining shoes if anyone remembers that!). Works great and is very fast.
Beautiful table and 100% correct on the direction of the toilet paper! If you Google the patent and original design for a toilet paper holder, it CLEARLY shows the toilet paper coming over the top and hanging in the front. Thanks for the video!
I know how much Marc really, really loves when the safety police drop a comment, but I must say that elevated feather boards would absolutely be a much safer way to support the workpiece when ripping that first corner off of the leg stock. He's basically a table saw wizard though, so fingers will do.
First the squared off mortises, then swinging a hatchet around the shop and beating the s@*# out of some wood pegs! I really gotta stop eating and drinking while watching your videos. One of these days I'm gonna choke instead of spitting.
How are you liking your tablesaw fence? Cool to see you are still using it so many years later. Waiting for them to get back instock so I can order mine
I always tend to suffer Murphey's law when draw boring. I've had peg break off part way through, break the bottom part of the end off, snap an inside edge off while removing the dry-fit, etc. I go 1/32" max (especial with oak+ Janka), and taper the dowels to death now. If you can leave the ends long until they're glued on there that helps too (it makes it easier to remove after the dry fit).
I'm using this build as inspiration for a table I'm making. Very cool video. Where did you find those brackets? I can find them with holes, but the slotted ones are eluding me so far.
OK the only reason I have my toilet paper like that, is so the cat can't come in and unravel the whole roll into the floor. Now she can claw at it all she wants :)
Probably a stupid question but... When I've used dowels that needed to go in that far and were a tight fit I found that I could not bottom out as the dowel would capture air and glue in the hole. I've cracked a piece of wood trying to hammer it it, but generally what happends is I see glue start to seap out of the piece of wood through the grain. How do you stop those things from happening?
Wow thank you! If folks are interested I’d appreciate hearing a bit more about dowel making. I have that jig and it NEVER works out for me the way it does for yiu
As you say "unneccessary strength", I'm actually curious why would it be considered unneccessary, exactly (or even the idea of being 'overbuilt'? Wouldn't it be better because it's built stronger? Or is it just the point of view not wasting time making it super strong if it doesn't need to be that secure and strong?
Thank God! Someone else in the world thinks TP over the back is crazy. Only serial killers keep it that way. I'm sorry Marc, I totally lost track of the video after that. I'm sure it was a nice table.
All your shirts kick a**! It looked like when you did your top glue up not all your panels were the same width. I always try to make sure all my panels are the same, is that not important? What are your thoughts? Also it's awesome you made these plans free!
Definitely not important. I try to get my boards at least somewhat symmetrical or in a pattern that looks good, but they are almost never all the same width.
Lacquer is my go to. Fast and easy to apply and is really durable. Definitely would be fine for clothes. Only downside is it’s really bad for you and the environment when applying, so definitely wear a good respirator
Some dude sent them to me and I could NOT find his contact info. I'm hoping he sees this and makes himself known to me again so I can send some traffic his way.
LOVE the consistent respirator use! It's unfortunately rare to see such attention to safety in a home shop. Also fascinated by the drawboard technique for the ends.
What do you suggest on a large table top 48x90” with 4/4 material for reinforcement when bread boards are not in the plan? Scared to route out too much material on the underside given the thickness.
@@woodwhisperer just bought my first ever feather boards. So I’m gonna try that and your method of making legs for my first ever table build this coming week. Thank you for all the hard work and effort with the videos. People like you got me into wood working and I’m having a great time!
I’m so glad I’m not the only one that knows there is only one correct way to place your toilet paper on the holder. Anyone who does it otherwise just likes to watch the world burn

Great vid! Being part of the guild has been the foundation of building my woodworking skills for the last several years. Thank you Marc and Nicole!
It was nice of you to showcase Matt’s chairs. You also pronounced his name correctly. What a stud!
😂
Man the toilet paper comment had me cracking up! How can people sleep at night when they do that lol! Great build also, that turned out beautiful.
So nice to see projects using the lighter wood of cherry after so many projects using the dark wood of walnut. Lovely table perfectly executed!

Dude, thank you for the pro tip on making the tenon's without a practice piece, love it.

Nice looking table. Matt's chairs look good as well.
A feather board would make those first shown cuts a bit easier/safer to do. Great vid man!
Yup, as long as you have an elevated one. I don't have an easy way to elevate my featherboards so had to do what you saw in the video.
Beautiful table and 100% correct on the direction of the toilet paper! If you Google the patent and original design for a toilet paper holder, it CLEARLY shows the toilet paper coming over the top and hanging in the front.
Thanks for the video!
Only an argument with the wife would inspire that level of googling.
Exactly! My wife puts it the wrong way and me and the kids go around switching it the right way.
Luckily my wife are on the same page about this. ALWAYS OVER THE TOP!
Flared feet reminiscent of an old Delta Rockwell tool stand. Nice.
lol I’m sure that’s exactly what mom asked for. :-)
Fantastic work on this one, Marc!

congratulations to the successful master, the job you do🙂😊
Great Mother’s Day video.
5:59 ... the toilet paper comment was gold. Also the picture gave me some anxiety, hate it when I see that its almost OCD for me to change it.
Mark - always great content! I have been a guild member since 2016 and look forward to more projects. Thanks!!!!

Beautiful work, dude! Really well done! 😃
Really amazing looking table!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Learned a lot from this one, thanks Marc.

Great video. Nice draw bore technique! One editing flaw. The blade and riving knife height changed mid rip.
I enjoyed the building process, you did a fantastic job, i also liked the ancient Egyptian photo on the wall behind you :)
Loved the video. Reminds me of the early ones you created/posted.
I believe I have seen every non guild video. I just realized I have watched every one since I started woodworking since 2012
Awesome build - gotta love cherry!
Really beautiful table, Marc!
Great looking table, Marc~! Thanks for the plan~! Backwards TP....what animals~! :-)

Me three.

Go grab the Guild project. I go into more detail there.
@@woodwhisperer will do thank you!
Love that Milwaukee router, can’t wait to get my hands on one.
It’s amazing. I love mine. Worth the cost for once

Really great table video!
Nice clean looking table. Greetings from Germany
I see the Honda money finally ran out 😜. Great looking table.
Great video, and great info on safety tips..
awesome build. love the commentary , all of it. haha
I'm thoroughly disappointed that Mama Spags didn't make a cameo for some outtakes!! Beautiful table though!
I know your hands are safely away from the blade but boy that camera angle at the end looks terrifying.
I hate it when people put the toilet paper on the holder backwards! 😁😁 Great project - thanks!
As always great build and video
is the card scraper your using could be swapped out by a spokeshave?
All your shirts kick a**! It looked like when you did your top glue up not all your panels were the same width. I always try to make sure all my panels are the same, is that not important? What are your thoughts? Also it's awesome you made these plans free!
Definitely not important. I try to get my boards at least somewhat symmetrical or in a pattern that looks good, but they are almost never all the same width.
!4:53 - where did you put this plastic rotated shield for chips? :) 16:51 - upsss we can read it in mirror ;p Great job Marc!
What would be a good finish for closet shelves? Durable enough to set a jewelry box on and safe to set expensive clothing on?
Lacquer is my go to. Fast and easy to apply and is really durable. Definitely would be fine for clothes. Only downside is it’s really bad for you and the environment when applying, so definitely wear a good respirator
Are the legs made like that because you don't have true quarter sawn stock? I guess I don't fully understand why the extra work on the leg blanks.
Watch the full series in the Guild and you’ll get a full explanation. 😉
Any reason you didn’t use z clips to attach table top? Or just preference?
@6:00 Look at the patent...it's clearly show that the paper comes over the top. Not from below like SOME KIND OF AN ANIMAL! :)
Great DoveTails shirt
beautiful, as always!
Where did you get slotted right-angle brackets for attaching the table top? Those seem much faster/easier than z clips.
Some dude sent them to me and I could NOT find his contact info. I'm hoping he sees this and makes himself known to me again so I can send some traffic his way.
@@woodwhisperer I think maybe I found them? www.etsy.com/listing/768871783/tabletop-expansion-bracket-clip-fastener
THE SUN UPON MY SKIN!
Love that Mario shirt!
I'm only halfway through the video right now, but is it a good idea to draw bore the apron tenons? Would it be better?
Better, but in a belt and suspenders sort of way.
@@woodwhisperer lol ok gotcha
8:31 IM DEAD LOL
Life tip #171: TP is always from the top. Never under.
Securing it to the base is all that's really necessary.
Thanks!
*Hi, good job 🤗🤗🤗*
Whoa there, a wooden table as a gift? In 2021? Look at Mr Moneybags over here.
Very nice!!!
Well, anyone with a cat in their life knows there’s ONLY one way to hang toilet paper! Beautiful table!
oh my gosh, i almost pissed myself at the toilet paper comment... too funny...
Do the chairs laugh nervously when you sit in them?
They do. Sometimes if you press on them hard enough the mumble something but I can't quite make out what they're saying.
@@woodwhisperer ‘mmmmm crotch figure’ probably
Hahaha, I'm always in a battle with my wife on that toilet paper thing! I guess she's the kinda gal who'd like to square off her mortises.
Your a good son mark 👍😊
Couldn’t you stack a feather board behind the blade so you wouldn’t have to use your hand?
Yup, as long as you have some kind of riser so you’re only applying pressure at the top.
@@woodwhisperer just bought my first ever feather boards. So I’m gonna try that and your method of making legs for my first ever table build this coming week. Thank you for all the hard work and effort with the videos. People like you got me into wood working and I’m having a great time!
The toilet paper joke 🤣
Why it is true 😅
I just started to watch the video, but paused to ask if the chairs were also made of cherry! Because, you know.. chairy.
I just want to know how often you have basketball players over for dinner.
8:31. I died laughing
the site is offline
🤣 "Like a rock..."
Rubio says dont sand beyond 120, you sanded 180, no problems?
Nope.
Matt Cremona? Never heard of him...
Most haven't.
5:58
You're wrong, Marc!
Just plain wrong..
It is far better with the TP on that way round!
Hahahaha! The toilet paper comment! We can all do without those contrarians…they’re a menace to society.
That shirt! Where do I put my money?
The dovetails shirt
I wish I could call mine a "slight decorative curve"
Tried to sign up for the guild and got error 502.
Yeah we got slammed. Best to try again tonight.
I could do that too if I had an $11 mechanical pencil!
LOL @ 5:53 & 8:28
So that's why Nikola Vucevic is always complaining about eating at my house..
In today's prices, the cutoffs are worth $500.

fukin awesome
Watching this video whilst sitting on the toilet. Immediately looked at my toilet paper and realised.... I am one of the people.... 😰
Your son grew up so fast. What, is he late 20's now. Lol joking about your helper.
WAIT……There’s toilet paper out there?! 🥴
