In this video, I wanted to give you a mix of licks that help you create some wild but memorable guitar parts to help you spice up your lead playing. These can also run alongside the slower more emotive aspect of playing you should also be working on too. Don't forget the importance of 'feel' and space in solos too. I was really inspired by Nuno Bettencourt's playing to create this particular lesson. Although there are no specific licks from his songs in this video, it was how he placed licks like the ones shown in this video into his classic solos like, Play With Me, RISE, # REBEL, Flight Of The Wounded Bumblebee and so many others. This video will help you work on tapping, string skipping, sweep picking, and alternate picking. Lots to work on so do me a favour and hit the subscribe button.
Realize you’re just showing Nuno’s licks, but watching it executed so casually is jaw-dropping. Thank you for initiating the incapable like me with this lesson!
Hey Cameron, hello from Saint Cloud Florida.I am 61 and have been following you for a very long time . I just wanted to thank you for all the videos that you have shared with the world over the years. Your playing is so diverse and fluent, so clean. I can’t say enough how you have inspired me over the years. I’ve honestly never tryed learning any of the licks due to my hands being so messed up. I do play every day though. I’m inspired by just watching and listening to you play. Thank you again .
Glad I found your channel im a huge EVH fan and Randy Rhoads and you cover a lot material The harder is the better I like it .. always up for the challenge I play 8 hours a day off and on sometimes 10 Lol obsessed with playing .. Really dig your channel bro no doubt is inspirational 🤘🤘your a kick ass player with killer sweep picking moves I’ve learned quite a bit from you already my friend thanks for doing what yeah do . For me I like to play always open for more knowledge
@Cameron Cooper do you have any acoustic guitars? I suggest you get the luna gypsy tattoo mahogany acoustic. I use that guitar everyday and it is incredible. Only $310.
Fantastic playing and teaching as usual. You have a truly amazing gift. I know you have worked hard to develop your talents! Congrats and glad you can share with the world 👍🏻
Thank you for another awesome video! I'm definitely gonna be practicing these licks. Would love to see how you dial in these tones on the Amped 3. I've got one and have been able to get pretty good tones from it, but it feels less intuitive to dial in for me coming from traditional amps.
Thank you! Once I got a sound I liked on the AMPED 3 I barely had to tweak anything. I just stick with one preset I made for all my videos. The Architect software you can get for it is a dream!!
@CameronCooper I quickly became obsessed with the first run and killed my ear trying to find the notes. Lol. You are a PHENOMENAL player. I practiced for about an hour and dropped my E standard guitar to Eb. Which sounds excellent. I told my boss that I wouldn't be in for several weeks because I have to learn these. Best thing I think I've heard on TH-cam to date. You are the man. I bow to you, sir 🙏 🤘
Hi Cameron , i have seen a video from you about Eddie van Halen and you told that you had a surprise about YGA that there will be a new player study about Eddie soon .I am searching for this because I want to follow like your way of teaching and I'm very curious. Can you help me when it will be online or am I wrong about it? Greetings Ron from the Netherlands
I’ve been watching some of your vids just found yeah 2-weeks ago.. I purchased the EVH yesterday I’ve saved up for it for years my first Floyd Rose is it very hard to get the action lower to the fret board can you give me a few tips mine will be here Tuesday
Thanks Cameron I appreciate it Seems when you look for advice on this it’s gets way out of hand and to technical I appreciate the feedback .. Should I loosen strings and tighten springs if needed as well or leave the springs alone
I can tell you're more of a 80s hair metal guy ..but what about breaking down some Dimebag Solo's ..love your lessons and would love to see you play those
Arpeggios and pentatonic noodling are boring as hell. They are just exercises or etudes that every music student practices to learn technique, not anything really melodic. These are only meant as learning tools, not as actual melodic. All i am hearing is scales and arps. That is step one of 20. Most guitarists never make it past this level. They just get faster at it. Do they learn modal expansion, enclosures? Nope, just how to wiggle thier fingers, not how to develop ideas.
You're merely stating the obvious, and clearly missed the point of this video. The whole point of these licks are to help create parts in solos the same way Nuno or any other great player might do for their solos. Listen to what I say in the video. I'm not saying this is the definitive approach to take, this video is simply sharing ideas to help people improve technique. By the way, your videos and playing are great. ;)
What's stopping you from playing these in standard tuning? It's still the same picking and fretting.....it'll just sound a little different than in the video.
I try to make up for it with really close up angles and saying where to put your fingers therefore removing the need for tab. I don't have tabs for anything nor do I make my own.

Ok I'll steal them
I mean, if he insists.

Wow you’ve done so many of these I’m surprised there is more in your vault of knowledge
I've got loads of things to teach but have no idea how to title in such a way that they'll be popular and therefore worth doing aha
Wow great video thanks Cam your re the best one 🤟🏻

Best vid yet!!!!!!
Great stuff 7:51 tapping lick
Awsome Cam!!
this guy plays the coolest licks on internet
I’m going to be driving my family mad trying these this weekend 😂
F***ing best lesson ever ! Pure Candy Baby. \m/
Hey Cameron, do you have tabs or guitar pro files for these at all? I'm definitely going to work this into my practice routine! Thanks for the licks!
I'm sorry mate i don't make tabs for anything
Wish I could, these old arthritic fingers don't go that fast anymore 🤘🏼😈🤘🏼🏴
Cam, do you have a Patreon link or any way to donate? These lessons are amazing.
I don't have a Patreon no. Thank you!
Thanks 😊
these licks remind me of Malmsteen, great playing! You're fenomenal!
Aaaargh! Great licks! But for some reason they don't roll off my fingertips like Cameron's! 😁🤘🎸
Super Matter!!
Hey man it's Josh... just wanted to say you clearly love that guitar a whole lot bc I can see the stuff on the fretboard hahahaha
It comes with a dirty looking fretboard anyway since it's a relic.
What a cool video !!!!
BROO THOSE LICKS ARE FR SICK
Wow, this vids gonna be awesome and I'll learn so much!
"I'm tuned down half a step."
aaaand I'm out... damn..
Don't worry about my tuning, just follow my fingers
@@CameronCooper True, I'll give it a try, cheers!
You lured me in with the EVH guitar, thinking you'd be teaching Eddie licks.
I've taught loads of EVH stuff already. May do some more again soon if I can think of something
@CameronCooper I quickly became obsessed with the first run and killed my ear trying to find the notes. Lol. You are a PHENOMENAL player. Hi Ron. The course has been shot and is going to be edited by YGA soon. As soon as a release date is confirmed, I'll be marketing it relentlessly
Nice! Any chance we can get the tab to your licks?
I'm afraid not, I film them up close and explain what I'm doing to remove the need for tabs.
I’ve been watching some of your vids just found yeah 2-weeks ago.. I purchased the EVH yesterday I’ve saved up for it for years my first Floyd Rose is it very hard to get the action lower to the fret board can you give me a few tips mine will be here Tuesday
It's easy to lower the action on a floyd. There are two posts on each side of the bridge. Tightening them lowers the bridge and therefore the strings.
Thanks Cameron I appreciate it
Seems when you look for advice on this it’s gets way out of hand and to technical I appreciate the feedback .. Should I loosen strings
and tighten springs if needed as well or leave the springs alone
@@hayabusa1300100 Decide that when you get the guitar. They generally play well straight out the box
I can tell you're more of a 80s hair metal guy ..but what about breaking down some Dimebag Solo's ..love your lessons and would love to see you play those
I get asked about Dime a lot. As good as Dime was, I never fully gelled with his music.
@CameronCooper i get that. I think if you tried some of his solo's you'd dig it ..he's a weird style to nail
@@shredfan1987 I have. I've taught them to people before. I just don't gel with it.
@CameronCooper all good man ..love your playing ..tried figuring out your picking ..just can't do it lol
What is your Set up in terms of string Action and Pick up Hight on your charvels?
Just leave them as stock. They're all subtly different so I don't have a specific set up that suits me
Great stuff...is that an american made Franky?
No. The American ones aren't worth it anyway
Thank you@@CameronCooper
Heck yes.
Does the THR sound the same through studio monitors in your opinion ?
Maybe subtly different. But it records well which is all I need.
🔥🤘🤯🤘🔥
Ever done a video showing all your guitars?
I don't feel comfortable doing that to be honest
@@CameronCooper alright
Кемерон спасибо большое, очень красивая фразировка как вспышки салюта, рад, что подписан на ваш канал ❤
Awesome as always man! Do you do online lessons?
I'm still doing my pinkie pushups
🍺🍻💥🍻🍺🤛💥🤜💚⚔💚FUCKING BEAUTIFUL🤜💥🤛💚⚔💚
0.23 Jake E Lee's suicide solution lick kinda 😂
I’ll pass ! I’ll just watch you play and bow my head.
Hey guys I got this all down in a hour....what? , don't believe me...
Haters..
Nice one! These licks aren't too bad, just have to learn the patterns then throw in the other shapes to complete the sequence.

Yo pensé que ibas a tocar una buena música, muy hábil los licks eso sí, pero no transmiten nada..
You missed the point of this lesson entirely. Listen to what I say at the beginning
All that crap sounds like shit
Love this aha. Got anything constructive to say or are you just going to put down what you can't do?
tuning down half step already makes me away from this video. bye from the 2. minute. couldnt you make it normal tuning?
What's stopping you from playing these in standard tuning? It's still the same picking and fretting.....it'll just sound a little different than in the video.
If you're any good, my tuning doesn't matter, you can just follow my fingers. Simple enough.
Hey Cameron I enjoy your vids But I wish you'd put tabs on the screen?
I try to make up for it with really close up angles and saying where to put your fingers therefore removing the need for tab. I don't have tabs for anything nor do I make my own.
