Oh man , Mr Dave hitting the groove at his peak. After years of being the sideman, he put together this classic lineup of Er Rayo-X. Finally Dave could play what he wanted, how he wanted. Playful, high energy, a mixed bag of genres. Sweet, sweet music from his heart. ✌&❤ forever
Saw El Rayo X one time only in a San Diego club in the mid 80's. Saw Dave again by himself at San Diego State Un again in the late 80's putting on one of his stringed instruments from around the world clinics. Amazing talent. RIP.
Tear it up Mr Dave!!! Gawd how are those people still sitting down? So polite. Lindley's slide playing is a gift that keeps on giving, a gift from the gods. His tone is phenomenal here. This is the first time this youtube video has popped up for me. The 3 best songs from the 1st El Rayo-X album all in a row. WOW ~ Thank you Leopardus Jacobus. RIP Mr. Dave ~
That Double Supro lap steel through his Dumble Amp, TONE! And David single-handedly brought the Weissenborn Koa guitar out of the dust bins of history. Opened for him a few times in Bellingham, Wa. He was so kind to me.
Saw them around this time. Incredible. Nonstop party, the most together band I ever heard, Lindley's two guitar techs swapping out the steel guitars all night long, two available to him when they weren't swapping one, every band member was given equal opportunity to shine, too. A real gentleman on the stage. Reggae Everly Bros/Twist and Shout went on forever, and it was glorious. They all had much more gear onstage than we see here.
I read a review about a live ElrayoX album in a biker magazine in 1983. Didn't find the album until 1987 in a used record store. Rag Bag was the highlight.
Certainly among the best live Lindley videos on you tube, very good audio and video quality. Dig Jorge Calderon on a Danectro 6-string bass and Bernie Larson on what looks like a Supro or National Res-O-Glas guitar. You hardly ever see Dave play the frontmost half of his Supro doubleneck......
Dumble Ods #003 of course and Dumble modified Bassman "CHUNKMAN" no SSS #003 this time.... because it would sound like a locomotive in the livingroom otherwise.. Gonna miss Dave alot..
I just noticed the drummer is left-handed. I've been playing in garage bands since 1970 and nearly every band had someone who was left-handed. One or two lefties played righty, but the others were true lefties.
David Lindley is phenomenal, but he's not a rock legend strictly because of his irritating high pitched, thin, reedy voice.Has no equals on stringed instruments though...
I was fortunate to see Mr Dave and El Rayo X at the Lone Star in NYC. Unforgettable. A unique talent.
Tremendous musician. One of the very best slide guitar players. Underrated. Two of his best songs. Great live performance. 👍🏻🇸🇪✌️🏴
David Lindley and Crew. An unappreciated genius who we will never see again in our time.
Once in a lifetime talent
Acoustic or electric, David Lindley was a real giant !!

The man in yellow was a personal friend named BABU. RIP MY FRIEND TAKEN TOO EARLY!!!
Beg to differ. He is a Rock Legend. Saw him in Humboldt in 88. Phenomenal..
Never got a chance to see him or this phenomenal band but enjoyed El-Rayo-X album & CD for many years. RIP Dave
DL will never be replaced. Absolutely unique musician.

What a great man he was - a humane human, and a musician to the core.
The world would be a better place with more like him. RIP

His voice is the best! ❤ RIP Dave 😢Thanks for the memories!
That solo never gets old but another point that is the most energized drummer in history.
And then there's Ras Baboo, he puts the energizer bunny to shame.
😂😂😂😂
Prince of strings 🙏
Vaya con Dios Mr. Dave. Thank you for the music.
This band was so much fun,,,. Ras Babbo was perpetual energy
David Lindley and El-Rayo X...definitely one of the best party bands ever. Always a good rocking time.
Lindley is a national treasure.
It is really too bad that more people were not exposed to his music.... he was true to his craft and not a sellout....

What an amazing performance! Rag Bag 🥰
This was filmed in Sweden; there's another longer version of this same show (same three songs) on TH-cam that includes an interview on Norwegian TV.

YES!
And that pre-amp they're using fucking rocks!
Gotta love David Lindley!! Always seems to be playing something tasty.
Grandios
Lindley is king! Huge inspiration of mine!
So cool!
I'm working up a sweat just listening. Thank you.
Got to hear him live back in these days...great show...still rockin'...

Wonder if he was as cool off stage as he was on. He seems like someone who you would actually enjoy touring with, and that's rare with band front men.
måndagsbörsen det var länge sen...Han var bra, RIP
I saw El Rayo X. San Francisco, a club on Broadway. Incredibly insanely good...and LOUD!
Ras is on fire!
That was BABU Personal family friend taken to soon
@@echoparklady3170 how did he die? Always loved watching him
LOVE IT
Holy crap!
Is that Ian Wallace on the drums?
Yes. Phenonenal drummer. He passed away relatively young, too young, from esophageal cancer.
Has anyone noticed David's low E is out at the beginning of Ragbag?
He didn't care. I was actually a bit surprised by this.🎶🎶🎶🎶
Nice I 👍
Frizz Fuller lives!
dammn ... :) thx
