It's obvious that you are a professional gamer. I am aware of the minor things you mentioned and they are all already on the to-be-fixed sheet.The length of the game will always depend on what type of game the players are playing. But in more balanced and economical games, I already have a few ideas on how to knock down the length by just the 10-15 minutes you mention (i.e. one-time effect Caravans in Level 2 cards, which can shorten the game etc.)
just our of curiosity, is it possible if the game does well, to have an upgrade for screen printed meeples for the workers instead of tokens? it would make an already gorgeous game POP even more. Plus, just not a fan of tokens as people.

In worker placement (and with specialization at that), it's absolutely crucial to see what workers you still have available and what you already have on the board. Chips were absolutely best suited for this function. Meeples, on the other hand, were very distorting and confusing. Players have to pick them up occasionally to see what they are. Spolier: However, I will disclose that if the game was going really well, one of the last stretch goals is the possibility to upgrade the chips. @@Drakkkan I'm going to have to respectfully disagree whole heartedly that meeples cause disorientation and confusion. Player color oriented meeples with an add on sticker set (if not Screen printed) will have the same effect of legibility as the chits, with a higher production value feel. Its not a deal breaker as one can easily self upgrade the components via etsy or other meeple sites. But, again, just one man with an opinion. Im still All-in.

Thanks for your review Alex. I just wish more people backing this game as it’s very special game. Played few times since than on TTS and with a prototype and I am enjoying it more and more. Such a great potentional to be one of the best game for 2 people. Love it!
Great video, as ever, Alex. I realise that you had a prototype, but the thing that concerns me is that if this is definitely only a two player game, how does the solo play work? The KS page says there are solo scenarios, but not that you can play the base game solo.

However, it is clearly marketed as 1-2 players, but the designer is very cagey about solo play. There are no plans for a solo review, for example, as solo play appears to be limited to solo scenarios rather than playing the base game against an automa. I hope you would at least be interested in their clarity and honesty.
Hi Andy. Let me answer here. I didn't want to make a solo game like beat your highscore. Thus the game doesn't include "full" automata that would allow you to play it directly solo. Which frankly even in the combinations the game contains will not be possible. I've talked to a few people, and a lot of Magic players used to love solving "scenarios", which inspired what the game now delivers. I guarantee that figuring out some of the solutions will mess with your brain and offer hours of entertainment. However, I understand if you don't take it as a full "solo" experience and eventually skip the game.

It looks like an amazing game for two people, but if solo options are pitched differently to what two players can enjoy in the base game, just tell us. I'd have to say that hours of entertainment is not the same as the endless replayability of the two player base game. I'll still be recommending this game, especially at that price in the current climate, but it's clearly not for me. Good luck with the campaign!

Alex, thanks for your insights. I want to get this as research for my similar idea that uses deckbuilding as the productive engine and source of novice workers. But most of my designs end up being me wishing for the type of game I want to play until someone else publishes it.

It's a really solid game, the main problem is the very limited appeal between the combination of genres and the player count.

Would you put this (I know prototype) in your top 50? Reason I ask is I have an hard cap (forced😜) of 50 games and I'm pretty close at the moment 😅
I highly doubt it. I really enjoy it, but top 50 is a very hard list.
I'm really interested in this game for me and my wife, and not much peaks my interest any more in 1v1 games
definitely. Altough game is a "niche", it is perfectly balanced just for two players and there is none of similar game out there.
