Whisky.com reviews the Longrow Peated. The very smoky Longrow Peated is produced at the Springbank distillery. Very strong smoky and intense, Longrow resembles the whiskies from the nearby island of Islay.
The malt for Longrow is kilned over peat fire for 48 hours, twice as long as for the Springbank bottlings. The whisky is double distilled, and only fewer than 100 barrels are bottled each year.

Last year's Longrow Peated was a real gem and I'm on record saying it's got some older stuff in the mix. I think I preferred it to the last batch of Springbank 10.

I can't tell if you're doing an impression of your father or you just sound exactly like him because you're his son! Either way, solid review.

I'm not a big fan of longrow. The last one I had was the red. Maybe this one is better.

The Red's are for whisky chasers really. I had the most legendary one (Malbec) a few years ago and thought it was overrated. I've also had Longrow 18 which, again, is overrated. The regular Peated is a real gem and you actually have a slim chance of landing a bottle for a sensible price. The long defunct Longrow 14 was a real old school jewel.
