first time hearing of this man, hilarious and engaging all the way through, if only it were an hour longer

What an amazing piece of living history! Everyone who would have remembered either Roosevelt or Bryan is long gone now.

This is a man who I could listen to for hours. How do you pack so much into one life?
I’m currently reading his book With Lawrence In Arabia on my Kindle using the free Gutenberg Press copy. Full of fascinating, colourful details just like this lecture

I met Mr. Thomas for a few seconds in Denver just a few weeks prior to this appearance (he as walking through the Denver Arts Center galleria, looking for Pat O'Brien who was in town acting in a play at the Elitch Theater -- and doing a meet-and-greet in one of the Center's many smaller venues) and then Lowell Thomas was dead just a few weeks later; amazing listening to his meandering through memories of such a rich life...
P.S. Thomas was one of the original partners in Cinerama; Denver demolished its own fantastic Cinerama movie palace, along with most of its other best-of-kind movie houses. What a waste!...

He looks so healthy, yet he died only two weeks after this video was recorded. A pity he wasn't with us longer, and I'm sad that I didn't find out about him until 30 years after his death. Without this man, the world wouldn't have known of Lawrence of Arabia, as well as so many fascinating personalities who are less well-known now, such as Count Luckner, who fought a successful seagoing campaign in WWI without taking a single life. Lowell Thomas brought a world of adventure to America with his writings on the first round the world flight, travels in Afghanistan, and the first U-boat war, and went on to be a pioneer in broadcasting.
