I find it strange that this person Toby is so outspoken on this show and then is never heard from again. No trace of this person online. Nobody seems to know who this is who are very close to this subject. That makes me think either he was putting on an act or the Sally Show was.
vcrcooking I read online that Toby has done works of art for the Transgender Community but, I can't find Toby at all let alone a last name. I need to find out more about this person
vcrcooking ~ That's possible because I once knew this man that appeared on Geraldo back in the '90s and nearly everything that came out of his mouth on that show was a lie. He was on with an older, non-passable transsexual that they were claiming were old Army buddies, or some such nonsense. However, he actually told me he always had a fascination with transsexuals and had even married one. He would hang out at drag shows in Dallas always lurking at them. On Geraldo, however, he acted like this was all a surprise to him and he'd never known a trans before his old buddy called up and said, "I have something I need to tell you. Surprise! I had a sex-change and now I'm a woman." I knew the whole thing was B.S. and I bet they only met a few weeks before the show, because this guy told me all the transgenders he knew were young and passable, none were middle-aged dads in drag like this person was.
madstrawberrypie It’s not. Toby would be, at least, 60 years old now. They were on an obscure talk show that most likely flew under the radar long before the internet came about. So really, few people knew about their existence, so the advent of the internet never really cataloged their actions afterwards. In a roundabout way, Toby is much like Henry Darger. Few people know of them, and even fewer know their personal lives. I have heard of a Facebook account for Toby though, so they might’ve created an account a while ago. No idea where it is though.
This individual is remarkably wise, especially since "they" seem young in this video. I figured out why. They have Autism. I think it's a superpower. My boys and husband have it and are alot smarter than me.I believe it's an evolved type of human being. People think of Autism as a disorder, but it probably isn't.

Wonder how Toby is today. They are awesome
this person DEFINITELY didn't want to be interviewed in any sort of way. just look at the choice of words this person gives to Sally. sounds and with a note of rudeness there.
No, I mean, Toby gave the answers with a such lifeless tone and you think he/she's not in the mood to reply it.
I didn't like when she said Toby seems like he was from Mars! Daaang how rude
Very interesting I must say,,,
Toby makes sense, Sally is a dope.
This person has my respect
sally jesse raphael show, september 1989.
I love this interview so much. I have the privilege of knowing Toby, and what a tremendous human being xe is. The pronoun Xe chose is Xe. Xe used to have a newsletter, FINDING OUR OWN WAYS, but it isn't being published now. This program is from 1988, I think.
Whatever happened to Toby? I remember seeing this show when it originally aired.
I just read that Toby is activist Jim Sinclair. I'm not familiar with most of the communities involved so I am not sure if this is true.
madstrawberrypie
It’s not.
Their real name is Jim Sinclair, and they basically founded the autism rights movement
This individual is remarkably wise, especially since "they" seem young in this video. I figured out why. They have Autism. I think it's a superpower. My boys and husband have it and are alot smarter than me.I believe it's an evolved type of human being. People think of Autism as a disorder, but it probably isn't.
I also believe that autism is an evolved type of human being. I wish we had an autistic world any time soon.
💁🏽♀️Toby is the most intelligent non binary person I’ve ever seen thus far. This person actually makes it make sense!!! Very interesting and genuine argument.🤓👍🏽💚
Literally me (except the aro part).
WOW! I wonder what this person is up to now in 2016, and what does this person think of today's society.
So it's possible Toby was Asexual? Or is there another definition
How about the neutral pronoun "e"? Not he, she, or it, but e?
Nice one :D
Better than they. Propose it on tumbler or whatever the authority on the movement is. I'll be using it from now on.
Because singular They has been in use for centuries, and was even commonly used in Shakespeare’s writings. Not to mention how “E” can be easily confused with he/she, while “it” is dehumanizing to most non-binary people.
was that Paris Hilton at 8:27??
Most awkward person ever.
ProudToBe AnAmerican and people would clap and cheer this freak on, but ask them to help feed somebody in need, in need not looking for a handout, and these people will look the other way, ahhh America
nawf gotjokes
People rejecting Eurocentric gender concepts are “freaks” to you bigots?
What a legend!
I love Toby, I'd have really liked to be their friend. They really remind me of the neuter character Yime Nsokyi in the sci-fi book Surface Detail.
Where is this person now? Does anyone have any sources about Toby today?
fair enough. I love my cat
Is your cat still alive? 🐱
i love them
Go Toby!
I love Toby
Wow see it was even a thing back then
Non-binary people have always existed. If you want another fantastic example, look up The Universal Friend. Their story is wonderful and quite wholesome for the time period.
Thank you Jim Sinclair ❤️

I wonder if Toby was born intersex, which would explain the video.
go toby!
THIS IS AMAZING.
Toby and I are the same kind of creature!!
Very awkward body language and way of speaking. But I can assume it was an uncomfortable topic.
It's probably also because Toby (Jim) is autistic (and went on to do amazing advocacy in this area).
Damn, she understood she was ignorant 30 years ago.
Toby 2024. Vote for a neuter future. :)
If you love them don't change them.
Toby is my hero
im not rascist but shes the first frisk.
