- One of the number one questions I get asked about the alligators is...How Do I Clean The Alligator Pool? It's quite a process to clean the alligators so I thought I'd make a video, step-by-step on how I clean the water for Soni and Chompers! It's quite a task caring for alligators and hopefully this behind-the-scenes video will give you an idea of what it's like caring for them! For those "Cleanliness Critics" out there, I grew up with my Cajun grandparents in Bayou Country, in Louisana. The cypress swamps where the gators lived their entire lives was NOT a crystal-clear environment; but rather had a MUD bottom with cypress tannin in the water, making the ACTUAL WATER a dark brown. The gators in these swamps are HUGE and healthy....and live for DECADES. Chompers and Soni are VERY WELL TAKEN CARE-OF...If you look at the actual WATER being pumped out...it is actually quite clear...not mucky or full of "gator poo" ....certainly NOT filthy. The EVERGLADES gators live in even murkier water than the ones I grew up around in the Bayou..and they get HUGE. Corbin does an amazing job of caring for Soni and Chompers...they are so obviously loved and cherished...and their skin and eyes healthy and clear. I lived the first 20 years of my life seeing gators in their natural habitats and believe me...Chompers and Soni are LIVIN THE LIFE.

They had a deep respect for the Natural World that they passed on to me...and I passed onto my 2 girls. YOU would fit right in in our neck of the Bayou. We had an ENORMOUS gator we called "Big Sam" ....who was SO big...He would wind up near our dock where we tied up our pirogues-mine was red- "le bateau rouge" and he would hiss and "grump" a kind of a low, grouchy "whump" of a sound if we shooed him away. Big Sam, they GUESSED was 50!
My people have a saying I will share with you...it expresses our joyous way of life: "LAISSEZ LES BON TEMPS ROULERE!! "LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL!!"

Exactly!!! I’m from Florida and can honestly say this water looks just about like any lake in Florida… matter of fact looks better than a lot of lakes in Florida!!!
I think it comes down to viewing … just to see them - that’s the only reason - it’s not because the water is dirty or anything legit - it just makes for better human viewing if the water is clear.

Yeah I've decided I definitely could never own a gator. I'm always so nervous when you get in there with Sonni and Chompers and they are being sassy. I don't know how you do this solo so often. You're very brave, but I'm glad you're the one taking care of them because you care and are knowledgeable enough to stay safe in a relatively dangerous environment.

I think a lot of people don't realize crocs and gators actually live and hunt in murky dirty water and it doesn't bother them in the slightest, if anything it helps them when they are stalking prey in the water to not be seen

@@helennazanniat8992 Np. And if u want to know whether its a gator or a croc, gators have a U shaped snout and crocs have a V shaped snout. And when they close their mouth,in gators u can only see their upper set of teeth whereas in crocs u can see both sets.
