When I lost my grandfather many years ago, I thought I would never get back into model railroading again but here I am, it was the same with my mom and dad. It hurt for awhile and now I collect and fix them to honor, remember and respect them. Any time we lose a loved one it hurts but we push through the pain, I'm here with you.
Condolences Ron. Lost my dad 53 years ago and mum 26 years ago. They were Classic models. Family and trains help fill the void. Keep on keepin' on... Lovely set by the way!
Sorry for your loss, we are sending our condolences to you and your family! Lost my pop 30 years ago this past February, so I know how it hurts. But on the lighter side, you most likely picked up a lot of his habits and his sense of humor! So, remember him for his antics and silliness, and it'll always bring a smile! Again, sorry for your loss!
Cancer Sucks. Lost my dad to cancer in '95 and last December my wife of 41 years. Your channel helped me forget about life for those 20 minutes or so. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Sorry to hear about your loss Steve. A few Fellers have shared with me they used my channel as part of their recovery. That really means a lot to me that I helped out in that kinda way :-)
When I saw the pictures of your dad I knew he was a good man, the tool belt got me, I was a sheetmetal worker-retired. I'll bet you have a ton of memories with dad, carry on ron your character is a true testament to your fathers life ❤
So sorry Ron for your loss of a loved one, just keep his memory alive, and live on in his ways and yours. Be well and thank you for sharing luv them MARX!
Bro I love your truck my dad used to collect those Chevy's 68 to 72 he had like 18 of them I think it's awesome man you drive that truck round is your regular driver you're an original guy...💪👍💯
So sorry for your loss.Nothing like losing a Dad..We feel like the world should stop for a while, but it doesn't and that hurts..Hang in there buddy.I've been thru it myself. You've got the best videos on the tube..
Ron my sincere condolences to you and your family. He looked like a fun and great man and I am sure you are missing him dearly. Praying for you. Saying good bye is never easy. Thanks for a great video once again. 33%
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Wonderful tribute to your pops at the end of the video. May he rest in peace. I lost my mom a little over a year ago. As a tribute to her, I named one of my passenger cars after her.
I thought it touching that you dedicated your show to your dad because I often cry when I think of my dad too whom I lost in an auto accident many, many years ago !
I am sorry to hear about your loss and send my deepest condolences. My father has always been my best friend and I dread the day he passes. All I can say is if the person you are is anything like your dad then your dad must have been an awesome guy to hang out with.
Sorry for your loss Ron. Unfortunately grief is the final act of loving someone. I hope that you find solace that he's in a place where there's no more pain and is full of love. Content is awesome keep up the good work. Again so very sorry for the loss of your father.
Very sorry for the loss of your father. God bless. Great video, loved seeing the standard gauge trains in action. Those old tin types were the trains of our fathers - like going back in time. - Johnny from Texas
It’s never enough time unfortunately and we always want one more day. I’ve unfortunately been a part of more than one very fast moving cancers that comes in like a hurricane and leaves like a war. My deepest condolences. Never forget he is still with you. And there will be times where you can smell him, you can feel him, and you can hear him. He is with you always
Ron, im so sorry for your Dads passing. When my dad passed away from dementia, he did not know me or my brothers. That hurt. But he loved us. We can see your Dads looks in the photos !! Please keep it up n another fantastic vid! Brock, Eastern WA.
So Sorry for your loss Sir! He sure must have been an Amazing Man! Lost my Father 2 years ago also and like you said "Just one more Day"! Thanks for taking us along bringing that Old Girl back to life and looking Good! Sure wish you were a neighbor of mine! I'd bug you all the time! Lol. Can't wait for the next lesson!
Ron, my apologies for being late on seeing this video. Always look so forward to seeing a video of yours. This one breaks my heart. Losing a friend or loved one is never easy, but losing a parent is really hard. You and your family are definitely in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for sharing the beautiful pictures of your dad.
Ron, My deepest condolences on the passing of your father. My wife lost her mother to an aggressive form of cancer last year. Needless to say, but F cancer. Entertaining video as always. Keep up the excellent work.
Thanks, Ron. Sorry for your loss. I can only imagine how hard it would be to loose someone so influential to one's life. Hopefully you had a great relationship with your Dad and appreciate the memories and blessings you had with him. I never had the pleasure to know my dad that way. He died from a heart attack when I was 8 years old. That was 62 years ago and I still miss him to this very day. Sometimes life can be cruel, until I go run some trains with my dad in my basement. I know he would enjoy it as much as I do because I'm doing something I know we both would love doing together. I still have the original Marx trainset he got for us 70 years ago. It's one of the few memories I have of him that I managed to hang onto after all these years. I've been trying for years to add the all elusive Marx Mercury to my collection, especially the copper queen. It's one of the few Marx models that I don't have in my collection. Nice restoration. At least the Marx motor doesn't present much of a challenge to restore them. After servicing they need a break-in session. 15 minutes a day at varying speeds and directions for a week is ideal. The more run time, the smother they will run. There's an ebay seller who makes custom restorations of the Mercury and Vanderbilts. He adds smoke units, does body modifications, and custom paints them. His starting asking price is $699.00. Too rich for my blood but he does a fantastic job and they are sharp lookig. I'd love to have one but I can buy a lot of engines for $700.00. Hopefully you get a chance to see some of his work. Very artistic and yet functional.
I believe I showed one of his pieces in my vid. The blue one was a custom painted smoker. He got a good price on it so his work must be getting noticed.
Hello Ron: I'm so sorry for the loss of your father. I'm sure he was very proud of you and for you to complete this video bringing much joy and information to us train nuts is quite an accomplishment under the circumstances. Stay strong and please continue to bring us more enlightenment about toy trains. Take care. Eddie
So sorry to hear about the passing of your father and your video ending is a very nice tribute to him and I bet he’s looking down and watching over you now and always have to remember that. 🙏
Hi Ron. Sorry to hear about your pops. Nice video along with honoring him. He raised his son well. I'm sure he is very proud of the man you are. You have had a tough few months recently. Thanks for all you do to keep your channel up and running for us guys. Take care and God Bleess.
He looks like a happy man. You said it, it's life,I'll say, life goes on. W'll all meet again in paradise. You don't me, I'm a 78 yr old fanboy, been watching a long time, keep going, your great. Love ya Ron.
You are in my prayers. I know losing a father is one of the hardest things. Your father looks like he was a happy man, and you always have the fond memories to keep his memory alive. I lost my father 17 years ago, and there are still days I wish I could pick up the phone and ask his guidance.
Ron, Thank you for another terrific video. Tuning in to your channel here on TH-cam is always a bright spot in my day - and hey, I learn a bunch of great things too! I'm very sorry for the loss of your dad. I'm sure you made him proud and also that you made him smile. Best Regards, Brad
My Deepest sympathy for your loss. I still think of my Dad and can still hear him. It is the memories that you shared that make this time easier. They bring back that feeling that you shared. Take care!!!
All my prayers to you and your family as they go through this rough time. I know I'm watching this video about a month after it happened, but I also know from experience that once you've lost a close family member, you think about them nearly every day for the rest of your life. I lost my younger brother when he was 19, over 24 years ago. This year my own father learned he has some cancer to deal with. The doctors think they caught it super early, but have rated his type as high risk. He goes in for surgery two days before thanksgiving, and I'm going to be there to make sure I have and can do as much as I can to help take care of him during that time.
It it always hurts to lose a loved one and you’ll always think about them, often. I’m truly sorry for you loss and that was a great tribute to him. Not into the social media stuff but as long as you put out your great content, I’ll always watch and learn. You’re proof that you can teach an old dog new tricks. Ron
Ron My condolences as well for your loss but we all love him and his misses for bringing you into this world so we have things to look at that you made pretty again. Those single reduction gears gives you those huge gears inside the flanges so they don’t really get too happy on any other switches but old marx ones. Thanks for this look at the copper queen
My deepest condolences Ron. I understand what you going through.. I am 42 years old now and lost my dad 19 years ago. I believe that the one's we lose aren't really lost, I believe that when we look hard enough for them , we are able to find them in doing the things that we love. My prayers are with you and your family. God bless.
Just got back home and catching up on TH-cam posts. Very sorry for your loss, losing your folks is so, so difficult...hopefully you had a chance to build some happy memories too.
My deepest condolences to you over the lost of your dad. Having lost my dad this year as well, I know what you're going through, in fact your videos have helped me get through many of the tough times for which I can't thank you enough. Although I don't know you, from what I have seen of your videos, you are a fun loving and big hearted guy, and I bet a lot of your character comes from your dad. In that way he will always be there when you need him. And even though his voice is silent now, you will still hear him. Hang in there and keep on keepin' on.
Thank you G. E. Sorry to hear about your loss as well. Thank you for sharing with me my video's brought you comfort. Your words are very kind in this post :-)
So sorry for your loss. Lost my Dad to to Cancer in 1993 and not a day goes by that I do not think of him. He was my Best Friend and I could talk to him or nothing. He is with me every day.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad when he was 56. That one really hurt. That taught me to live for today. There's no guarantee for tomorrow. It also taught me to take care of myself so I can stick around for my kids and Grand kids. Great video as always!
My condolences Ron, I lost my wife a couple years ago and stopped working on my layout, I’ve recently started up again and regret stopping in the first place. Keep up the great work you are doing, in remembrance to your dad, best wishes, Bryan!😢
A wonderful streamlined train set and great to see it running with the lights shining. Tempered by the news of your father. My sincere condolences to you and your family. All the very best to you. My father died in 1974, just as I was figuring out who I was and we were getting to know each other. I am so thankful for the memories of him and his wonderful sense of humour, I say things he used to say all the time and talk to him out loud. They are always with us.
I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my mom when I was 16 and then I lost my dad just 4 years ago and miss them both. I know how you feel. May God be with you
My condolences to you and your family Ron. It's so hard to lose the heros in our lives. I miss my parents every day. I'm glad I have those treasured memories to carry with me. You and yours are in my prayers my friend.
Ron, another real man from the greatest generation, This world needs a hell of a lot more of them, we need their wisdom and common sense more than ever, Im very sure he was and is very proud of his son Ron, as the world needs more good men like you. I am watching from Dalian, China, and Ive been all over this world, and you are one of the nicest men I have ever seen, my deepest condolences, you are truly a unique person, regards, respectfully, Joe
Thank you very much for them kind words Joe. China...Your the first one to be watching and commenting from there. This internet thing sure shrinks down this big world we live in.
I just saw this video and I know how hard it is to lose your dad. cherish The memories you have and as time goes by it will get easier to talk about him but yes one more day to tell him you love him and thank him for all the things he taught you. I wish I had one more day too. watch the movie field of dreams that is amazing. Ron ill be speaking to you soon.
Brought a tear to my eye Ron. I hear ya buddy. It hasnt been easy with me losing my dad at 54 back in 97 to a cancer that was still an unknown at the time. Pancreatic/Stomach cancer. Aint a day that goes by that I dont think about him or my grandfathers who certainly are the ones responsible for this affection we call model trains. Prayers brother. There never is enough time.......
Awesome set !…I just found a set myself, w/ tender and 3 cars….lighted ! Your vid will be watched a few times when I get to the restoration work ! So glad you posted this.
like what you do with the trains Fun to watch your videos. Sorry for your loss . my dad is with me in memory when I go fishing as you will have good thoughts too.
Awww buddy. I'm sorry about your dad. Mine passed in 2014. It's tough but you hang in there. It don't feel like it now but days will get more bareable... just give it time and take all the time you need to process it all. Some people try to skip this and it's super unhealthy. Sending love and healing buddy.
I just want to say thank you for fun train videos you put up it puts a smile on my face every time. Sorry for your loss. Dad will be watching from above 🕊️
Sorry for your loss. It’s always tough to lose a loved one. They may be gone but never forgotten. Lost my youngest brother a couple of years ago. He was in his early 40’s. Keep your head up, and keep doing what you love. Thanks for another great video.
My deepest condolences, Ron. I list my Dad several years ago but he's still with me reminding me to check my measurements and to double check my work. The lessons my Dad taught me will always be with me. I'm sure it will be the same with you.
Someone was doing some carpet running with that little beauty. Glad you found the armature will come out, like a puzzle. I hand wash my brushes with Dawn. Another awesome video!
Again our condolences Ron. It was nice you dedicated this to your dad. It will be tough for awhile, and you will be ok, take your time. You will always have something that flashes you back to a memory, enjoy it. You will cry, you will laugh, it will be a reminder. Having a moment myself right now.... Good job on this set, wow does it shine. It looked like had a new motor mechanism in it when you took apart, minus the scubs..lol. Thanks for taking us alone for a road trip to local Dave's. Nice set up to run the rails. Chat soon my friend. 🙏
Thank you. I think that giant piece of fuzz got stuck in there when it was very new and would not run so they just put it away for 70 years or so. It was in such good condition. Thank you for your kind words once again :-)
Great video! She shined up really nice!Yes Taco John’s is the beast. Sadly here in BFI they don’t exist! I very sorry for your loss! My father passed over 25 years ago and still miss him.
@@classicmodeltrains we have to go to Bozeman or Missoula now. There was one in Dillion but it has closed. Idaho is kinda a sad state. Thank you as well! Take care!
I miss very sorry to hear that hear about your loss, Ron. I lost my grandfather last year, and the best thing he left me was a modified Athearn blue box GP38, with an immense amount of detail. He never got around to the internals, so that's much job now. Gotta carry on the legacy ✊️😔
Ron as always another great video. I am sorry about the loss of your Dad. It is a hard thing we all have to go through in life. Take care my friend. I`m still waiting to hear from you about buying more trains sometime. Later my friend.
So so sorry to hear of your loss Ron like you I wish I had one more day and a bunch more after that. I lost my Dad when I was 9 years old to Pancreatic Cancer and it was quick 7 months. My parents were divorced so I only got to see him a couple of times before he was gone. I'm so happy for you that had got to have him for so long. I never got that opportunity. He's proud of you Ron and he walks with you all the time and watches over you and yours now. Prayers for you and yours brother. 😢 Thank you for everything you do and the information you share with all of us.
My sincere condolences to you and your family. Great video. Marx's trains are about as bullet proof as you can get. Simple and almost always run. No matter how old.
Wow, sorry for your loss my friend. I lost my Dad last fall cancer and heart issues, he bought me 5 train sets one Christmas, got me started in this hobby, I think he had as much fun as me building my first 4 x 8 platform, I'll never forget it. Hang tough and prayers for your family.
My deepest condolences. Your father Larry raised a fine son God Bless him and your mother.
Thank you very much Gabe, so kind of you 🙂

I do the same for my grandfather. Got his engine restored, and my American Flyer layout is in his memory.

Thank you very much Jon
Thank you David. Sorry for your loss as well
Sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad when he was 56. That one really hurt. That taught me to live for today. There's no guarantee for tomorrow. It also taught me to take care of myself so I can stick around for my kids and Grand kids. Great video as always!
thank you Jim. 56 is way to early, sorry for your loss as well
Thank you for sharing. Sorry for your loss my friend🙏

My condolences Ron, I lost my wife a couple years ago and stopped working on my layout, I’ve recently started up again and regret stopping in the first place. Keep up the great work you are doing, in remembrance to your dad, best wishes, Bryan!😢
Thank you Bryan, Sorry for your loss as well
A wonderful streamlined train set and great to see it running with the lights shining.
Thank you Pauline, Sorry to hear about your loss as well
I'm really sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my mom when I was 16 and then I lost my dad just 4 years ago and miss them both. I know how you feel. May God be with you

Aint a day that goes by that I dont think about him or my grandfathers who certainly are the ones responsible for this affection we call model trains. Prayers brother. Awww buddy. I'm sorry about your dad. Mine passed in 2014. It's tough but you hang in there. It don't feel like it now but days will get more bareable... just give it time and take all the time you need to process it all. Some people try to skip this and it's super unhealthy. Sending love and healing buddy.
Thank you Digger, Good words you put down for me
Ron, praying for you and your family. Your Dad instilled your love for modeling trains and you share that with us. Thank you!
I appreciate that
I just want to say thank you for fun train videos you put up it puts a smile on my face every time. Sorry for your loss. Dad will be watching from above 🕊️
Thank you :-)
Sorry for your loss. It’s always tough to lose a loved one. They may be gone but never forgotten. Lost my youngest brother a couple of years ago. He was in his early 40’s. Keep your head up, and keep doing what you love. Thanks for another great video.
Thank you S.T. Sorry to hear about your loss as well
My deepest condolences, Ron. I list my Dad several years ago but he's still with me reminding me to check my measurements and to double check my work. The lessons my Dad taught me will always be with me. I'm sure it will be the same with you.
Thank you Mark, sorry for your loss as well
I am a train guy for all of my life, I'm not a three railer, but respects on all the work. Hope you guys have great success.
Thanks for your support of the channel Richard

Ron, you are in my thoughts for the recent loss of your dad. It’s a tough thing to go through. I am speaking from experience. Love you buddy. 🙏
I appreciate that
Someone was doing some carpet running with that little beauty. Glad you found the armature will come out, like a puzzle. I hand wash my brushes with Dawn. Another awesome video!
Thanks John. Yup hot laps on the carpet probably 65 years ago and its been in storage ever since
@classicmodeltrains Another thing- '72 autos didn't need cup holders, you just held your High Life bottle between your legs. 😉
@@classicmodeltrains And a Lionel 1121 turnout is compatible with Marx. 😉
So sorry for your loss 😢 great video as always, keep up the good work!
Thank you
Again our condolences Ron.
Sorry for your loss- love your videos take care
Thank you Stacy
Great video! She shined up really nice!Yes Taco John’s is the beast. Sadly here in BFI they don’t exist!
I very sorry for your loss! My father passed over 25 years ago and still miss him.
Thank you Erick. No TJ's in Idaho? How do you survive? Thanks for your kind words and sorry for your loss as well
@@classicmodeltrains we have to go to Bozeman or Missoula now.
Thank you and sorry about your loss. I hope that loco runs real good for you
Ron as always another great video. I am sorry about the loss of your Dad. It is a hard thing we all have to go through in life. Take care my friend. I`m still waiting to hear from you about buying more trains sometime. Later my friend.
Thank you Dennis.
My sincere condolences Ron, your Dad looks like a really nice bloke, just like you. All the best, Gordon, across the Pond.......
Thank you Gordon
So so sorry to hear of your loss Ron like you I wish I had one more day and a bunch more after that. I lost my Dad when I was 9 years old to Pancreatic Cancer and it was quick 7 months. My parents were divorced so I only got to see him a couple of times before he was gone. I'm so happy for you that had got to have him for so long. I never got that opportunity. He's proud of you Ron and he walks with you all the time and watches over you and yours now. Prayers for you and yours brother. 😢 Thank you for everything you do and the information you share with all of us.
Thank you John, Sorry to hear about your loss and at such a young age
My sincere condolences to you and your family. Great video. Marx's trains are about as bullet proof as you can get. Simple and almost always run. No matter how old.
Thank you Joe. I agree Marx is a simple good design
Thanks Patrick, sorry for your loss as well
There is no denying that you are his Son 😊
God Bless you Ron, I'm sure your Dad was an Awesome Father and Friend and that's a Good thing ❤
