- Channel Donation Steam Locomotive from Lynn McCurdy at the High Desert Modular Model Railroad Club. AHM imported from Rivarossi. 1970 version Genoa 4-4-0. It spent close to a year looking good on the shelf. Decided to bring it down, open it up, and see what makes it tick.

33%er here. I always thought it was pretty little Shelf Queen, even if it was a pile of dog poop. I think I have a pic of it on the HDMMRC layout from years ago. (PRAYING) I sure hope I wasn't the knucklehead that glued that coupler on, let's just assume I didn't. Dust, Dirt what did you expect from the Desert, LOL. Virgina as in Virgina City and Truckee (as in Donner Pass). But you knew that, at least I think you knew that. You did a LOT of work on that little thing, but looks like it was worth it.
Thank Lynn for another great little Locomotive to work on and show the masses how to fix :-)
@@classicmodeltrains 🥰
Idk, I kinda like the 2nd. thumbnail 🤘🤘
A few have mentioned that as well :-D
As a kid I’ll never forget seeing Cameron Diaz the first time in The Mask. Great repair! Although I’ve never been much into HO scale, you’re entertaining enough that I still watch all the way through. I’ve learned a lot about it since then lol.
That was Cameron Diaz? I thought it was the Joker's wife with that grin.😅
Thanks Joshua, and yes Cameron's first movie was "Mask". she could sure melt a heart with that big smile for sure.
These are some of my favorite locomotives they were better than bachmanns 4-4-0s at the time and they can last a long time if maintained right, I have 2 working ones and a parts one
The V&T (Virginia (city) and Truckee Railroad) still operates as a tourist railroad. I think there are about 10 miles of track from Virginia City. While the original was used to move silver ore from the Comstock Lode, it now operates with several old-timey passenger coaches. If I recall, INYO is (one of) the steam locomotive(s) used along with some small diesel shunters. (probably useful when nobody wants to get up early to fire up the tea kettle. It may be a replica. Tunnels along the route have been daylighted for safety. It's been a good 30 years since I rode the line.
Yea I found that out while doing research. Now I have another summer vacation destination!!!
That scale is too small for me to work on, I would be a terrible jeweler. But you have the talent, great patience and fix! Kristen Dunst? Would never had guessed Cameron Diaz.
That big Toothy mouth Cameron has always gives her away.
I have 5 of those, they're easy to maintain and they run great........
Right on!
Thank you for sharing. Great repair Ron.👍
Thanks!
"Roll this like a booger" classic. I was with my dad today watching this video. He was a bit down due to his physical therapy. When we heard you say it, he laughed so hard. What a great old saying.
Glad to brighten up you and your Dad's day :-)
Your commentary is best out of all the others that do these repairs for the benefit of the viewer. You're the real McCoy Ron. You had me laughing in stitches a couple times during this resto.
By the way. I think model railroading is the only place you'll find a 4-4-0-4-4. 😊
Thanks Norm!!
“Roll this like a booger.” LMFAO! SO entertaining…………and informative!
Thanks :-)
I have all 3 Rivarossi AHM Americans lettered for the V&T. The differences in manufacturing is quite interesting, one of them has the motor in the cab, the other two are tender drive. The name of the railroad was derived from Virginia City and the Truckee River which flows off the Sierra Nevada Mountains and through Reno, Nv. This railroad also had another American named Dayton. The V&T named their locomotives after towns along the line’s route through Nevada. IHC also imported Americans similar to the AHM/Rivarossi models, but I think the quality was kind of lacking. I wish I wish I had purchased some, just to find out. Thanks for another interesting video. I still have a soft spot for the American locomotive, the pride and craftsmanship, and beauty that the builders put into these machines was absolutely amazing.
Thanks for the good info John! Yes the real ones all restored up are very well built and decorated
Ingenious design, but old school nowadays. I like old school. I'm old and I hated school. Great video.
Old school or No school.......wait that dont make sense :-)
Ron my first train set was a ho Barham n Bailey 4-4-0 set giving to me in 1973 by Mom n dad. A Virginia n truckee red engine. Still have it n now will try to bring it back to life. Great job on enthusiasm n animation. Keep it up bud!! Will continue to watch n be informed n ENTERTAINED. Nothing wrong there- no 33% there or here.
Pretty cool you still have that loco from your childhood. Hope you get it running again
Yes.
Good teacher
I had one of these that stopped running. I chickened out. Got a great deal on another one.
Thank you for the informative and entertaining video.
Most would have used this to recreate a period train wreck!!
thanks
I have one of these and I LOVE it!!!
Right on
Here in the UK, a company called AirFix Yes, the same company that makes the plastic model kits back in the mid to late 1970s early 1980s made a small line of electric locomotives and rolling stock. This locomotive was one of the ones they did with a different paint scheme. I do believe Rivarossi carried on making this loco for many years, and the other locomotives that AirFix made the moulds went to a company called Mainline, which was then brought out by Bachmann this is a great little locomotive when you find one in good condition. They are amazing. Very nice to have in a collection. Great videos you do I love them I love seeing what the American locomotives look like especially some of the vintage ones and someone from the UK they just different and beautiful all at the same time for us here in the UK . Keep up the great videos love to see them
The AHM locomotive is not the same model as the Bachmann version.
Thank you Rob for your compliments and some good history on stuff as well. Yes it is amazing how different the designs can be on the other side "of the Pond" for both of us.
Hi, this one looks similar to the Airfix/Bachmann loco but which I believe was a model of Jupiter. This Genoa looks very much like the General, but to many Brits all your 4-4-0 locos look very similar without seeing them side by side, great video Ron, all the best Mark
Hello Ron , I can never guess the Classic Model ! I guessed Ozzie Osborne . Well maybe next time . I almost thought you were going to take a hammer to that little choo choo but looks like you did it again ! Thank you .
Thats Cameron Diaz, she was in "Mask" with Jim Carrey
Just roll it like a booger Ron. LOL....Great video. CYA next week.
He he........Thanks :-)
Forwards and backwards, yes!!👍
It now has all the options ;-)
Great job repairing the Genoa. My wife and I actually road a train in Virginia City ion the Virginia and Truckee Railroad. Thanks for sharing.
Cool! Now I wanna go down there as well
Hey Ron! 45 seconds in i was cracking up😊 Very entertaining! You always come up with great solutions as the problems arise! Bravo! Your a good teacher not a "Bad Teacher" Like Cameron Diaz!😊 😊😊😊
Thanks Tony! If Ms. Diaz was my H.S. teacher I would have paid a lot more attention in class. Seems all my teachers were the same ones that taught my parents ;-)
Great restoration video Ron. I was inspired to drag my 4 4 0 out thinking it was a Rivarossi but instead it is a Pocher. The two models are almost identical except my Pocher [made in Italy] has an open frame motor inside the tender. It has the livery of Western & Atlantic with W.&A.R.R. on the cab sides. I will be lubing this little beast without taking it apart after watching your skills here being put to the test. Keep up the good work. 100%ter as I usually watch all your videos more than once.
Cool a Pocher! open frame motors make me happy. Sure poor low voltage performance but run forever! Thanks for all your support!
Another fine job well done by the professional!!!
That thing must’ve had a lot of run time on it for all that metal and plastic to be worn like that.
Thanks for sharing, Ron
I believe it was :-)
Your conductive grease made me think of a product I have used a few times to lubricate wheels when I have added additional pickups. It is a conductive lubricant called Neolube No.2 and I got it from Micro-Mark. It is not a grease. In fact I put it on with a brush. To really stick, it needs a surface with some tooth, so I have sanded the backs of wheels before brushing it on. It would probably love worn surfaces like those on your little Genoa. It is almost as expensive as the stuff you use. I really enjoyed your video. It was very satisfying to watch your success.
Thanks for some fresh info Michael :-)
Great job figuring out how to shim it to get it going in reverse and also runs remarkably better overall 👍
Thanks 👍
You must be kin to Scotty from Star Trek, he was a miracle worker too! I was having my doubts about the little engine that couldn't, but you proved me wrong. VERY impressive work. Love this channel too.
Thanks I.W.!!
Thanks. Enjoyed it.
Glad to hear it!
Enjoyed this video. I like how you include whatever history you find on what your working on. 33%
Thanks!!
Watching your videos inspires me to want to start trying to fix some of my old HO…then I come to my senses!…lol..great video!
Go for it!
I have had all bad luck with the AHM brand of engines. At least you got your to move again. Your having better luck than I have had in the past. Loved the video.
Thanks Dennis. Ive heard some Fellers do not like the AHM stuff. cheapy cheap they say
Great video as usual Ron.
Thank you Norman
These videos really help me out, thanks 😊😎👌👍!
Thank you Stephen!
When flat blades go bad I like to glue fine sandpaper to them. Eventually have different grits but helps with finishing cuts like that.
Thats a GREAT idea John, Thanks for sharing!!
Another cracking video ron
Thanks Peter
A great rescue, Ron.Almost would of been a park monument on the layout otherwise🚂🇨🇦🇺🇲🙋
Thanks!
You kill me dude! “Roll it like a booger.” Classic! You Gen-X?Great restoration! Thanks for the great video!
Glad you enjoy my weird humor. I guess I'm a Gen X. Born in '68
‘65!
Great repair. Love the history of the real one
Thanks Brent. I was pretty glad the original is still around, plus its sisters!!
I've had my Genoa since 1972. Some good tips. I'll also trim down all the wheel flanges to run on code 83 or 70 track; and I'll probably get a can motor from NWSL. I also have the HO Inyo, Reno, and Bowker; and O-scale AHM Reno and Genoa. They all just need some love to run right. A long time V&T fan here, too.
Lots of cool loco's you have there Paul!!
Very nice fix, Ron. Cheers from eastern TN
Thanks 👍
Love Your Videos.
Thanks so much!!
Pass on DCC here LOL. Day late and dollar short. Won’t touch DCC with 39 and a half foot pole! You do deserve a raise though! Cameron Diaz.
Me neither
Yup!
Freaking DCC… my grandparents got me 3 DCC engines when I was a kid and they didn’t know, so I tried running those engines on my regular layout and eventually all 3 just burned up.
Another great restore job Ron!! Never thought to use aluminum foil like that.
Thanks Ray! 👍
Aerseome job love your vids
Thank you!
Great video as always Ron. Your channel has been a great help and inspiration in my early pursuit of the hobby. Look forward to seeing what you do with the odd dcc conversion as it's a route I want to go down with a couple of the old steam locomotives I've acquired. Keep up the great work. It's appreciated ✌️
Thank you Darrell
Thanks for the tips, I have a few old ones that are finicky that I might just get fixed.
Hope this helps Jim!
I was planning on getting one of these. Thanks for showing us on how to take it apart!
Right on!
Awesome job repairing that rivarossi locomotive the Genoa.
Thanks Matt
Nice work again!
Thanks John
Good job
Thanks
You put the fun back into restoration. Love your take on restoring a clapped out model and bringing it back to life, so unique plus your running commentry. Great video and thank you for sharing
Thank you very much Chris!
Pure skill diagnosing and repairing this one, Ron. Great work on all your well deserved progress with this channel too, I'm always excited when I see CMT has a new vid!
Thank you very much Dave!
Hi Ron.
Kinda reminded me of the N scale combo you were asked to repair for someone...as I saw it on the track for the first time I thought this will be interesting 💩...lol, wasn't far off. You stuck with it and got it figured out. 👏. Glad you leave in the good, the bad and the ugly..( that would make a good movie..🤔). Glad to be a 33%er. Cheers 🍻
Thanks Robert!!
steam angines and metal. two of my favourite things. Go Ron!
They do go together well!!
Great job once again Ron! Your patience and perseverance paid off. That little 4-4-0 turned out to be a great runner. This video was enjoyable to watch. Your Classic Model this week is the beautiful Cameron Diaz.
2nd Feller to get the model right :-)
Don’t have any 4-4-0s as yet but just completed refurb and repaints on 2 Tyco 4-6-0s yesterday!! Have a third one to complete today!
Sounds like you've been busy
Good Lord .... After watching these rebuild videos I'm beginning to understand why you love TYCO 😂
Tyco steamers are quite simple and built nice.
Always informative and entertaining , look forward to your vlogs , really well done, and your just a nice guy, all the best, respectfully, Joe
Thanks so much Joe!!
That's my favorite engine! Been looking for one for a long time, oh well, one day 🙏
Right on! Hope you find a good one for a fair price.
Nice show Ron. Reminded me of my Bachmann Jupiter, damn thing crumbled on me trying to repair it. Oh well, was good to see you fix the ole Genoa.
Thanks John. Sorry to hear another Bachmann let ya down
Yep, the ole Bachmann let down…
It was a great video Ron. Very nice scratch building and finding solutions out of thin air! Very impressed! I would hate to see you work on a Bachmann HO 4-4-0, though that may cause PTSD from the N Scale Bachmann 4-4-0.
He He!!.......Yes Erick, I was having some flash backs while working on this one. ;-)
You are a master mechanic Ron…not any would have succeeded here…nice addition to the collection…keep up the great work…cheers…
Thank you so much!!
New camera is a major upgrade bro🔥🔥 super crispy💯 33% ftw!!
Appreciate it!!
Wow, you are a tinker-genius with mechanical engineering nack. I cower in your greatness and am inspired by your example. Kudos to your inspired insight and ability. I am attempting to copy your style on my n scale empire. Thank you so much.
Thanks Roger for the kind words Sir!!
Love your videos. Yes dcc.... it's ok.. its still trains, and heck there still vintage.. 😊 Ron you must live next to a Railroad, or you throw in some train horn sounds now and then. Maybe it's a thing to see if we are paying attention. 😉
Thanks and yes there's a track just to the North of me about a mile
I’ve found the original JB weld works well for putting back parts. You can also rebuild parts with JB weld and fabric. An old t shirt with some JB weld can be formed into just about anything
You can also use Bondo for certain jobs
Sounds like a good idea to me!
The difference between a mechanic and a parts replacer Ron classic model trains Good job brother
Thanks Lawrence. Yes I'm one of them Fellers you dont find very often where I diagnose the parts instead of just throwing new parts at it until something sticks :-)
Great video! My late brother had a late sixties V&T that got destroyed. Then I bought a Mehano V&T in the mid nineties. Both were sketchy runners at best. Also had to do surgery to had head lights. I still have the Mehano but I haven’t run it in years.
Thanks. Sorry about your Brother.
Very nice work Ron. It impresses me how the old Rivarossi motor is a smooth runner, able to keep her rolling at 3v/0.25a.
Go ahead with some dcc projects. Please put some on Athearns, ok?
Thanks Regis. Yes old Athearns will be included my Friend!
Another great great video Ron. A true maintenance guru. CA accelerator would speed things up for you🙂 . I sometimes us JB Weld for broken screw towers. I look forwards to each video.
Thanks Steve!
Gotta love "Cameron Dias"!
Yup!!
Macgyvered nice job TY
Seems all repairs lately have to be Macgyvered ;-)
Thanks once more Ron. I have one of these engines, bought off ebay as a non runner. The motor must have had some moisture at one time as it was stuck solid with rust on the armature. I opened the can, cleaned it up and it was fine but that is not a process I would like to repeat in case the tabs break off the next time. Now that you have shown me the way though I think I will dismantle and clean the whole thing. Cheers from across the pond, Gordon
Good luck Gordon on your repair. Just be careful for bearings that may or may not be used on the armature shaft. Open it up over a cookie sheet just in case ;-)
Another great repair video Ron I like the performance increase you gained from the aluminum shims...very good observation on your part...
I've been watching your videos for a while now and I notice you never turn the screws backwards first...It helps a lot to turn them backwards...especially with the screw type thread...until you feel it click into original thread grooves...I find it helps the screws thread back into old holes much smoother and avoids that 'it's gonna break' feeling...
Also I never see you use liquid plastic weld cement...You may want to try it on some of those plastic parts that break off...I've had good success with 'Micro Mark Same Stuff'
Keep up the great videos....
Rich...
Hello Rich, Thanks for your compliments!! I've never thought about the screw thread backwards trick. As with machine threads and being a life long Mechanic I can tell by hand tightening if the threads are crossed or not. You do make a good point with the screw threads and the soft medium of plastic. Thanks for the tip!! An Old timer mentioned the plastic weld stuff to me awhile back. I just searched the Amazon and put it in my watch list. I agree I do need some of that stuff!!
Wow, what an effort! I’d never have figured that problem out, to tell the truth. I do believe I have a Genoa in my collection somewhere, but I’d be hard-pressed to lay hands on it in under an hour. Thanks for this episode. I’ll probably need it if I have trouble trying to run my Genoa if I ever find it. 33%’er out.
Thanks for all your support of the channel, and that must be a pretty large collection you have there!!
Try adding a little baking soda after adding CA glue to the screw post. I use the Tamiya paint stirrer spoon end. The baking soda will instant cue the CA glue & adds reenforcement to the glue joint. Shake out the excess baking soda.
Thanks for the tip!!
Another great video Ron. As with the Bachman which you have convinced me to never buy I just can’t make the jump into steam engines after watching you struggle with so many. Best hobby in the world! Take care, Jeff
Hello Jeff. Steamers have more moving parts, making them more of a pain when they quit. Tyco (red box and early 70's) and Mehano steamers are pretty good ones and gentle on the wallet.
I see your problems before you ever began taking that all apart to find out the plastic is crumbling. "It's HO scale" LMAO. Thanks for the video Ron. 😊
Thanks for watching Jim :-)
Hey Ron another great train resurrection. What ever it takes to fix them up to run the rails again 😎
Thank you!
ya man !do more thanks. for some reason the thrust washer/end play of the worm gear shaft relates to smooth running.less is better.great vidio.
Thanks Alex. Yes I agree. worm gear shaft end play is important
Another great video. I for one wouldn't mind seeing a DCC video, since i have no idea what DCC is. That should tell you how long I've been out of the hobby.
Thanks Richard
Just ordered of the carbon grease. Hoping it will help on the locomotives as I go through them again. Thanks for another great video. 33%!
Right on!! Just use it sparingly on certain locations. It's not a miracle juice. Still have to clean the electrical paths very well. Thanks for your support of the channel :-)
Well Ron that was quite a journey. If you really want a total CF of a time you should try to service, the Bachmann version of the 4-4-0s. Great ingenuity applied in this video. It must have been rewarding to see it run well.
Many Fellers keep mentioning the Bachmann one. Now I kinda want to try my hands at it. It was real nice when it finally moved back and forth real smooth
@@classicmodeltrains I do know the feeling. I had one last year that I spent 5 days fettling with, off and on, and finally got it. Intermittent motor short. It even took out one of my cheap test transformers but, when it ran I was almost as happy as I was when my first son was born. LOL
Another great video. I remember when i was quite new to the hobby seeing one of these on ebay and it looked so cute and cheap i bought it then cleaning it was a whole different ball game so “a sadder man but wiser now i say these words to you” (Lemon Tree) they are really tough to assemble
Did you get yours up and running?
I did actually and it helped me graduate cussing collage 😉
I have a couple of them and they run quite well, actually.
These are nice runners
Oh yeah btw thanks for this video. Ive actually have a few Rivorossi/AHM/IHC 4-4-0s that have that issue that i gave up in long ago. And i never took the time to try to figure out the problemo, Thanks man! Now im gettin those buggers down off the shelf and fixin em!
Right on!! Hope you get them back running the rails
@@classicmodeltrains Hey Ron your a tyco collector right? Well did you know the tyco unloading hopper car set Virginian ,that all the metal on the bottom is made of lead? I have a few sets and they are complete and I just checked them and they are made with or out of lead. Bummer as I just bought a few still sealed . Now I don't want them. ! Every part of the underwrite even the closing bay doors are made of lead or metal with lead. I checked them with a lead test kit and it turned in like 5 seconds.
Imagine how many kids in the 70s were exposed to this. I may sell them or even give them away.
@@firefly0282 I didn’t know that. I work with lead a lot. If you don’t touch it, it won’t “get you”. Really no need to get rid of them.
@@classicmodeltrains ok thanks for advice. I just kinda flipped out when I checked it with a lead detector. But yeah I've been buying alot of these tyco on auction sites and have gotten good deals. I really didn't want to get rid of them as it took me along time to find mint in sealed box tyco stuff. I guess your right . I forgot when I first started my automotive career I was busting tires at sears and handheld lead weight all the time and those fishing weights . I guess alot have used their teeth to clamp them as well. And I know why they used lead in automotive paint so I guess I shouldnt worry. Sorry I was opting on giving them away to others that weren't sceerd of lead! I guess they'll be OK running them around on track. ,!,,,! Cheers!
Those locos are in MY neck of the wood's few yrs back B4 the China hit they had the Great Western Steam Up ALL of them were there includingthe Eureka & Palisades That Dale restored We got to ride them such a epic Historical time❤
That would be pretty cool to see!!!
Virginia and Truckee refers to Virginia City Nevada. From what I remember, Genoa, Reno, and Inyo are all still with us, as is a sister locomotive the Dayton, also from the V&T.
Yup. I just didnt know that till yesterday. Glad to hear another sister is still around as well
@classicmodeltrains also, Rivarossi for AHM built Reno and Inyo, I don't know if they did Dayton. There were different smoke stacks, and I know under IHC after AHM went out of business, took over importing them. Under IHC, they had 4 possible smoke stacks, two possible headlights, and depending on the prototype, oil or wood fuel tenders. They also brought out a larger number of locomotives in various different Railroads.
Yeah the V&T was an interesting one to locate. A couple of months ago I looked it up because Bachmann's new tooling 4-4-0s are based off of the Inyo apparently.
Cool!
Hey Ron there are guys now putting DCC in Lionel o scale trains. I think it’s called Blue Nami, but you have to put in a bridge rectifier
Lionel has had there own type of digital control with sound for many years. Bluenami is where you can run them from your phone Via Bluetooth
Isn't that similar to VA and Truckee? Have 2 of them. Missing a driveshaft. But nice looking engines. Another great and comical video btw. Thanks. Have few of those tender drives. Are a pain to fix though.
Thanks. This was a bit of a hassle to fix but now you know all the secrets :-)
Wow cool repair! I like your troubleshooting skills. You fingered it out alright! Thank goodness it’s not a B******n.
Thanks Steven!
I Had One But Something Went wrong With it It Had One Bright Light wow Looking forward On getting A Few More In Ho And N Scale.
Right on!
I've got freight cars to match Genoa if yer interested. John
p.s. I was watching a Rapido video and clicked "Like" at 4-6-0 Coincidently, I did the same with yours. Awesome work with this RivaRossi locomotive...
Yes I did notice that and mentioned it in the video. The loco was only picking up with the front pilot for a long time in the vid. I have some 1880's rolling stock as well. I wished I had just a small layout for this era of railroading. Its all so small and cute. Get a lot of it in a small space. Where's my 15" radius' at? :-)
Heck man, as for the dcc convert. Do it! Yeah others have probably done them as well but hey, they're not Ron from classic model trains. Some of us I'm sure would like to see your take on a vintage dcc conversion. So go for it. Besides I do think it may attract some new viewers that are on the fence right now and are closeted vintage train enthusiast and they just don't want their dcc friends to know! So I'm sure they're secretly wanting to see a dcc convert in an old loco. Heck I'd like to,see you dcc a tyco power torque! That would be neat! There are some articles on some websites but no good videos. At least not at your level. cheers!😊
Thanks for your input. If I can get my hands on a decoder that can handle 2 amps could do a tyco P.T.
I have a Bachmann Union Pacific 119, I had no idea this design was that old and taken from Rivarossi. This one looks a little better built than the Bachmann. But the Bachmann runs sorta okay and looks great so I'm happy with it. When I bought it, it didn't run, and I troubleshot the whole running gear and it ran just fine if I just sat the tender on the tracks and had the engine lifted. But setting it down, it would die out. I realized after, like, a week, one of the leading truck wheels was installed backwards creating a direct short through them. Now it runs, but it doesn't have super great contact so its low speed performance is pretty bad. And it's a little engine so low speed is all I really want to run it. I'm gonna try setting it up so the engine provides electrical pickup too and see if that helps.
Hope you get your little loco running good for you!
I have one also and I had to shim under the weight to get mine working, just under one side.
:-)
38:52 You don't need a period town. You just need scale rail fans crowded near the rails.
I like the way you think!!
Great repair job!
Thanks 👍
One thought I forgot to mention, the locomotive ran like it had been on a “display layout” and only ran forward. Caboose Hobbies had an LGB train they ran on a small circle of track above the checkout counter. They decided to run it the opposite direction, and it wouldn’t work, the flanges and rail were so worn, that the train wouldn’t the other way. I wonder if this little gem suffered the same type of problem?
I kinda think the same as well. I contacted Lynn McCurdy who donated this loco to the channel and wondered if they had it running there huge layout for many hours. He said no. this one probably came from a garage sale.
I like the older rivarossi 4-4-0 they're much better than the bachmann ones, and rivarossi made Genoa, reno, and inyo, A great restoration by you. Oh and when I 1st got mine I also had to do the tin foil tactic
Nobody has mentioned they like the Bachmann versions. Here I thought I had the only loco with the pickup problems. Now I wonder if it happens a lot to them?
The few examples I have I've had to do the tin foil tactic After a while I think rivarossi gave the pickups too much room To move around And they eventually get pushed out of the way and don't touch the base plate anymore
