- Hi! Today, the restoration of the Iranian Shamshir Saber. The item is not mine, I was given it for restoration, I need to make a scabbard, accessories, etc. Well, I'm starting to recover. After the completion of the restoration project, I returned the item to the private museum.
The first duty was to remove the top layer of rust, and put the item in a rust remover. After cleaning, I placed the saber in water and soda. To neutralize the acid.
Next, cleaning the blade with mild means, in the end I used diamond paste and velvet paper to finish the surface of the saber.
I leveled the saber guard, soldered it with copper, added decor, the effect of copper and blackening. I made the handle from walnut wood and deer antlers, the rivets are brass.
Scabbard made of wood, genuine leather, brass and nickel silver fittings. Slightly decorated the surface of the details. The item will go to a private museum (there is a separate stand of mine there). Please share this video.

Здравствуйте. Смотрю видео, половина прошла , клинок готов, осталась половина, ура !!! Ножны половина видео (люблю процесс). Пришло озарение почему люблю процесс изготовления ножен! Ножны это работа по дереву и коже, мой прадед был сапожником, а мой дедушка очень хорошо умел обращаться с деревом, начиная от постройки дома ( дом до сих пор стоит в отличном состоянии) заканчивая банальным древком для тяпки или граблей )))). Жалею что изготовление обуви не стало передаваться в нашем роде. Вы молодец как всегда! Всем здоровья и мира.

This was amazing! Cleaning up the blade was a feat all by itself. To make the hilt and scabbard brought entirely different skills into play. You are a master craftsman. I can only think of the other master craftsman who originally created the saber - all by hand. Thank you for an interesting and educational video.

Great to watch. Is there a reason you don't sharpen the sword. Or is it kind of pointless (no pun intended) And what will you eventually do with the 'treasure?'
If the item goes to a private museum (and visitors like to touch, take photos) I don't sharpen them. I usually always write that the subject is not mine

What will you do with your rust?
Alex has said that someday he will attempt to reduce the rust he collects back to iron and forge something new from it.
That will involve him learning many skills but at the rate he shows skills he hasn’t before (like forging and welding and electric etching), from learning between videos, I have every confidence that he will succeed. It will probably involve a failure or two but failure is the best way to learn.
The best part is that as always he will show us every step, including mistakes, so that we too will benefit from his learning.
(You see, Alex? Some of us see what you’re up to. You’re not really running a restoration channel but a teaching channel. Great way to teach, by the way.)

Это точно, но знаком. Хотя признаюсь, по-моему на мой взгляд есть брать рог водяного буйвола, лося и оленя - у лося самый ядрёный запах)

Подскажите - почему нельзя было выпрямлять саблю?
That would require heating the blade high enough that it loses its temper and becomes soft enough to straighten. But afterward it would have to be retempered which itself can introduce bends, warps and twists. The bend it has now may actually be the result of its original tempering process.
It is not so badly bent that it is not usable. I think Alex does not consider the risk worth the effort and I agree.

Смотрю внимательно Ваши видео и осмельсь предложить.😮 Когда вы делаете ножны можно ли перед склеиванием внутри их чемто от поподания влаги обработать. А в этом случае вот всё красиво,под старину, но когда вы демонстрировали результат, свежая древесина эфект портит. Я не профи я диванный , если что не так извените. 😊 Ещё раз спасибо.
Спасибо! Часто задают сей вопрос про "внутренности ножен" - в Восточном и Кавказском оружие я такого не встречал в оригиналах да и в книгах. Поэтому максм. это смазка маслом уже от клинка

Имел ввиду когда взвращяете, кажется уже мертвые клинки к жизни и стараетесь по возможности сохранить их естественность, то вот как я думаю надо , вроде и мелкие детали но их тоже ну наверное состарить что ли. Этот ж экспонат в музей пойдет или заказчику. А на старом свежее даёт контраст. Опять же это моё мнение. Вам спасибо за ответ. Жду новых видео о оживление " мертвых" клинков. Спасибо.
