I have never agreed so much with every positive comment on a TH-cam video. Mercenary is back and it is the best news EVER. Everyone here praising this new song is just as bad ass as the band who made it. Long live Mercenary!!

I'm seeing Mercenary next month, as they're coming for the first time in my country. They're awesome, i've been listening to them since my first days as a metalhead. The current Mercenary lineup is as good as ever, and even though Kral and Mikkel gave a different sound, this is Mercenary too. Bashing at Rene is uncalled for, he does a great job for the vocals, though a new clean vocalist will polish the sound better.
I saw them in Vienna. I was really impressed !!! One of the best Metal bands of nowadays !!!! Hope they will come again to Austria ... MARCHING ON FOREVER ....
I've listened to countless melodeath bands from Sweden,Finland and Norway but I've never heard anything from Denmark.I'm quite digging Mercenary.They sound great. Might have to check out their whole discography.
I agree with you, The Hours That Remain, Architect Of Lies and 11 Dreams were their best albums up to date, it was their golden era. As far as this goes, like you said, Metamorphosis was a very poor album, but I think with this album they are back bigger and better than ever, meaning that this was the improvement many of us awaited so long. I'm a long time fan myself as well, so I definitely agree :)
Amazing . Brighter the flame deeper the shadows. Beautiful. Just like Ian Thorpe and grant Hackett. Aust greatest swimmers.. Now struggling. With drug alcohol issues. Deeper the shadows.. Beautiful song. These two guys will still chase the flame. They are champion s.
Interesting take. I think it talks about people who have big dreams and aspirations ( the brighter the flame) and how because of that they have to overcome big obstacles to make them a reality (the deeper the shadow). In short is about not giving up on your dreams =)
Most definitely. Lost Reality is a seriously amazing track. I also love Architect of Lies. I feel it's still their most brutal album to date. It has a very dark and oppressive mood compared to all their other albums. The funny thing is, I started off listening to Metamorphosis before digging deeper. It took a bit of listening before I really started to really love this band, and now I actually prefer Mikkel's vocals over René's.

I feel that they are going the Insomnium route, consistency over experimentation... This track just feels like a bonus track from 'Metamorphosis'... I just hope they blow my mind with the new album... Either way NEW MERCENARY!!!

This first song already sounds more promising than the whole last album.. This sounds way more like the mercenary i love, but still some way to go. Great song though!
While I definitely agree that René is doing a fantastic job, I still love Mikkel's vocals prior to Metamorphosis. The title tracks from 11 Dreams and The Hours That Remain are easily my favorites out of Mercenary's entire resume of songs. Along with Lost Reality, Embrace the Nothing, Firesoul, and Screaming From the Heavens. René's vocals are great and unique, of course. I just prefer Mikkel's vocals. Hell, Architect of Lies is probably my favorite album if I really had to choose one.

I can relate when it's said that this ressembles Hours That Remain, for me seem more like a mix between The Hours that Remain and Architect of Lies, the type of lyrics and arrangement from architect of lies, but the music and the heavy part from Hours that Remain
Trust me, the difference in quality is unobtrusive when comparing highest quality of TH-cam (1080p) to the CD. I'd understand what you're pursuing if the resolution was 240p or so since it weakens the audio as well. However to straight up say it sucks seems a little weird.
Except he isn't "wrong". What you hear first is what you hear first, thus it becomes what you are reminded of. Of course Mercenary was there first, but he heard them second, thus they remind him of another band.
I respectfully disagree. The Hours That Remain was Mercenary at their peak and as much as I enjoyed Architect of Lies, it was the beginning of their downfall. I will say though that this album, at least what I've heard so far, is a vast improvement from Metamorphosis, which in my opinion, was their poorest effort to date. Again, this is just an honest opinion from a long time fan of the band, I still support them in all they do and respect their decision to alter their line-up and sound.

Mercenary is legendary.
Even though they've had massive changes in lienups they still have a unique sound. After 5 seconds you know it's a Mercenary song.
