Dont forget back in the ice ages, the temperature in Texas was cooler and there were different plants that helped sustain animals like mastodons, mammoths, horses, Pleistocene bison, and camels. Might have had some llamas that wandered over from Florida!
Yes, camels and horses started in North America before migrating to Asia.
