Finally!!! Thank you so much. I used to play all my content from an external HDD, but today my PS3 stopped reading the drive, not sure why. It still works when connected to my PC(s). So now it looks like I have to stream all of my content. Your tutorial is the best!!! Thank you again.

First of all, this TH-cam video you created is extremely excellent. The pace in which you explain the steps is perfect and it's very easy to follow along while we imitate the same steps on our own computers.
HOWEVER, what you say at time slot 9:02 is incorrect. I reviewed this over & over again before writing to you... At 9:02, you said "it's looking for music in the video folder". No sir, it most certainly is NOT looking for music, it's looking for VIDEOS files in that music folder. That's why it indicated "No files" found. I know what you meant or implied, but as long as you are browsing in the Videos menu of the PlayStation, you can only find video files, so please don't confuse the folks by saying it's looking for music - even though you clicked a folder that's named Music. Instead, tell them it will only search for videos in the Video menu, music in the Music menu, playlists in the Playlist menu. I know you know what I'm talking about.
Again, great job with minor discrepancies which most would not notice.

I'm glad the video was helpful. I went over the video several times so i'm not sure how I missed the MAC address getting through. Being on my secure home network, i'm not overly concerned with it getting through. If it was my laptop I would probably take the video down and edit it, but I don't want to lose any views. Thanks for the heads up.

To make it easy make the movie an AVI or mp4 file whichever and just drag them onto your videos in the library it simplifies everything.
that guy is right, your mac address is clearly visible. an annotation should cover it. nice tut btw.

On PS3 Network Settings, at the very bottom, make sure "Media Server Connection" is set to Enabled

Great video. You really helped me out but when i did this i didnt need to the do the whole Add Ps3 Share and after that because when i checked my Ps3 it was already connected to my ps3. Haha very convenient huh.

At 4:35 where it says to choose media streaming options and to click on the drop down menu to select all networks, I don't see any that are title "unknown device". Could you please help me identify what's wrong and how to fix it? Thanks
I've done exactly what you said, but still some pictures aren't showing up. They had the padlock symbol on them, but I got them removed and repeated the steps for the Media Player. Any help would be great, thanks!

I did everything you did, but my computer doesn't show up on my PS3 and when I enter "Search for Media Servers" it says "No media servers were found" please help!!! I've been in my Network Settings and my Media Server Connection Is >Enabled. Please Help!!!

hmm im with you on every step until 5:00 "show devices on all networks" only displays my PC
Edit: Fixed the problem. Had to enable "Media server connection" in the networks settings on my ps3, was off by default.

in network my ps3 was not there aswell but this work for me you need to sigh in to your microsoft acc on your laptop then it should pop up for you :)

Got mine to work but for some reason not all the files are showing, just a small amount. I took the Ipod files placed them in my media from there crossed it to ps3. Any ideas for how to make them all show?

Okay I CANNOT believe how many people don't know how to stream music videos and LITERALLY anything else you can imagine from you pc to your tv. ALL you need is a somewhat new pc and an hdmi cable. All you do is hook the hdmi cable into an hdmi port on the tv and then you take the hdmi cable and hook it into your laptop. Then all you do is switch the component to whatever hdmi port you were using (e.g. Hdmi 1 or 2) and there you go. The hdmi cable will display EVERYTHING your doing on your laptop and then convert it to your tv in HD. 720 or 1080 p just depends which tv you have. Happy? You can thank me now.
That's not streaming, that's using your TV as a input source.
Streaming is WIRELESSLY connecting to a Laptop/PC via media servers.
Streaming indicates WIRELESS, such as a network or WiFi.
Obviously, you're not the best.
