Not a very good comparison. I just purchased a 2016 Elantra and love it! While I will admit the bigger screen is nice in the Honda, everything else is just blah. No proximity key, no heated seats, no leather wrapped steering wheel and no sunroof. For about 3000 more you can get the navigation system in the Elantra with an upgraded sound system and add leather to it with heated rear seats and the blind spot system. I test drove both of these and a Mazda. For the price and the features and warranty the Hyundai won hands down!
+Farouk Highlander You compared two different warranties there. The Hyundai gives you 5yr/60,000mi Bumper-to-Bumper, and 10yr/100,000mi Powertrain warranties. The Honda gives you 3yr/36,000 Bumper-to-Bumper. and 5yr/60,000mi Powertrain warranties. Certainly, the Hyundai provides the better warranty, but the difference wasn't quite what you stated above.
+Farouk Highlander How does this very with Hyundai's nickel and diming for accessories like the safety package being only on the top level with other unneeded features to be 27,585 instead of Honda having it with every level going along with the 2016 Civic. Just wondering if the warranty makes it worth it with Hyundai Assurance vs. the Civic's lower coast to buy.
I just bought my 2016 Hyundai Elantra 2 days ago... &' I freaking love it! The performance is way better than the civic. I was going to but the civic... But I'm glad I waited to test drive the Elantra.
I bought a 2016 Hyundai Elantra about a month ago, right after Thanksgiving 2015. I have owned 2 Hyundai's before, and they were both good cars. I got an amazing deal on the Elantra, plus it has all the equipment I want. Got the SE with the preferred Equip package, almost 21% off MSRP (who the hell needs try-car when I can do better). I didn't go for the Value Edition, because I don't like moon roofs. I had a chance to buy a 2015 Honda Civic LX for the same price as the Elantra, and the Honda was on clearance - brand new car as well, and it was a great deal but was an entry model. I loved the color of the Civic, it was a dark red, almost a burgundy color. The Civic had steel hubcaps, didn't even have intermittent setting for windshield wipers, only 2 settings, was a stripped down model, no fog lights, no heated exterior mirrors, also, the entry level Civics have rear drum brakes, versus the Elantra's 4 wheel disc brakes standard on all trims. Honda has finally wised up and now has 4 wheel disc brakes on the new 2016 redesigned Civic.. Also not sure how reliable CVT's are, which the Civic has, read that CVT's are expensive to repair. The Civic seats on that 2015 model I looked at seemed to feel more spongy - like they would not offer as much support. I liked the firmer seats of the Elantra. I do like the door trim on the Civic better better than the Elantra, but the Elantra's dashboard seems to be much more upscale than the Civic that I looked at, so as far has this reviewer's comment that the Elantra's interior materials don't seem to be as premium, I think that's not a clear cut victory with the Civic. I looked at a few different cars when I was out shopping, I checked out the Corolla, it's nice, but every toyota sales rep I have ever dealt with is a horse's ass, and they won't come down in price, and I won't deal with Toyota sales rep arrogance. I looked at the Ford Focus, loved the way that car handled, it was really a great ride, but the Focuses are overpriced, plus the interior of the Focus is really boring, I'd even call it comatose. Plus reliability on the Focus seems to be questionable. I even looked at getting another Mazda 3, which is what I had prior to purchasing this 2016 Elantra. I loved that Mazda 3 I had, but the AC was a real problem since the car had about 80,000 miles, the AC breaking down continuously. Put a good chunk of money to repair the Mazda 3's AC back in Oct 2015, and in less than a month, something else broke in the AC system, I was done, and since I pissed away a lot of money less than 30 days before it broke again, I told Mazda dealers that if they wanted me to buy another one of their cars they'd have to give me a decent price break for the money that I pissed away recently on fixing the POS AC unit. No Mazda dealer could come close to the deal on the Civic, or the Elantra. So Mazda was eliminated. I got a lot more for my money with the Elantra. And no matter which car I buy I always put an extended bumper to bumper on it. The previous Mazda 3 I owned only had a 7 year, 84,000 mile Extended Warranty on it, I have learned since then, if you are going to buy a Mazda, shop around, because certain Mazda dealerships offer longer extended warranties, such as a dealership I found in the Orlando area can offer a much longer warranty than that. Live and learn, regarding that Mazda, if I had a longer warranty on it, the AC repairs would have been covered. Then again, the AC on that Mazda would have probably kept breaking down again and again, history repeats usually repeats itself.
I have a 2014 Civic EX 4 door and my wife just got this 2016 4 door Elantra. Although I've been a loyal Honda customer since the 80's I have to honestly say this 2016 Elantra is (in general) better than the Civic. Why is the Elantra better? The cabin is quieter both in the city and on freeways, heated seats, a 10 year/100K mile warranty, the trunk is a lot bigger, smart key and sunroof are a gigantic plus, automatic on/off headlights (which the Civic does not have), seats are more comfortable than the Civic, better stock audio system and all the screens on the dash of the Civic are not a plus but a con...Honda really tried to do something unique with its dash but sometimes simplicity overrules uniqueness. And the Civics side mirror mounted cameras are a complete joke and cause more of a distraction than promote safety. When both of these cars are available at my house I always grab the Elantra keys. Just being honest. And there is a big misconception that Hyundai's are not reliable cars. Wrong! For anyone that says that you need to get your mind off of the horrible 1980's and 1990's Hyundai's. Hyundai is a totally different company now. Hyundai is just as reliable as Honda and Toyota. The ONLY reason why Hyundai's resale value is lower than Honda and Toyota is because Hyundai's 1980's and 1990's horrible reliablity record. But once again...that horrible reliability is history now. Just my 2 cents :)
+You Tube Great feedback, thanks for sharing. Our fans love hearing the good and bad about all the cars I review. Your voice has been heard. Thanks again. :) Honda Laura
I could see where you are coming from- but I own a 2015 Civic EX (essentially the same model as yours) and it has Auto On/Off Headlights. Also, your Civic should have a sunroof and smart key entry if it's the EX model, as you say yours is. And I think you should wait and see what Hyundai's reliability is like with your wife's car over the years before stating that Hyundai and Honda are equal at the reliability podium. And I like LaneWatch and the digital speedo display (but those are our differing opinions). Another thing I like about the Civic- it scored higher on the small overlap frontal crash test, and it feels more solidly built. -just my 2 cents also.
I can't believe I just found this video hahahaha.... I am test driving right now the Honda but I will get the Hyundai for test drive tomorrow....this video will definitely help me making my decision (which is pretty much taken already) can't wait to drive that beautiful and more elegant Hyunday :)
This is a 2015 Elantra not a 2016, And she is comparing the Base Elantra SE VS the Civic EXL with Sensing which to Grades UP from the Civic Base LX so this is absolutely not fair, FYI: I worked for Honda and Hyundai.......This is not a Fair Comparison,
Thanks. This a great service you offer to people. I am particularly appreciate your thoroughness. I found this service unexpectedly and it's definitely a help.
You forgot to mention the 10 year/100,000 mile warranty on the Hyundai. That is a big difference than what Honda offers. Hyundai/Kia have really stepped up their game over the last couple of years. They offer options that aren't offered on comparable models-Heated/cooled seats. They are no longer considered a "cheap car manufacture." Although I like the Civic's dash better, with the warranty and features offered, I would seriously consider the Hyundai. I love Honda. That was my first car-Red Honda Accord hatchback 1984, but there are other manufactures that are stepping up their game to compete with the Honda and Toyota's. Laura, something you didn't talk about. How are the crash ratings? What is the resale values after 10 years?
Hyundai's "100k" warranty policies are infamous for giving people problems, look it up online. Not to mention the warranty is non-transferable, and doesn't cover many electrical problems the cars have. Honda has a 60k power train warranty that I would put more trust in.
+Dea Garic and it's not 100k the entire car. That's only power train. The bumper to pumper warranty expires at 60k, and Kia's and Hyundais are junk. We had a Kia in our family, and still do, and it's been sitting for over a year now with so many issues from a/c, engine manifold, abs, radio malfunctioning, some crazy line in the rear of the van that's ridiculous to fix. Read those online reports of the scams on these cars.
I feel that now there should be a comparison of the 2017 Honda Civic EX vs. 2017 Hyundai Elantra Value Edition. Especially since both are the next generation and the Value Edition is also part of this video. Or do an SE with tech package if you think it is more fair.
I learnt after owning a 2012 Elantra that they will never match the reliability of the Civic or any Honda for that matter. Sold the Elantra before the warranty ran out, I now drive the Euro Civic hatch and my wife the new Fit/Jazz RS spec and love them both. BTW, good review!
I like the civic I am actually saving up for a honda civic so when I graduate high school 2018 I will by myself a grad present aka redesigned honda civic
I would put my trust into Honda sure Hyundai may have a longer warranty but after 100,000 that's where there cars began to fail. They are not high mileage cars. Honda is just a more reliable brand in my opinion
I have the 2013 Honda Civic F Sport .. Got it new from dealer... Love it I just pick the wrong color on black... It scratch easy when I put it under tress
Love the comparison videos you've been putting out. I would always choose the Hondas since I work on them for a living. Laura you have great taste in clothing, looking great as always!
Marc R Thanks for joining in Marc! Sounds like you're a Honda Tech? If so thanks for all that you guys and gals in the shop do for us. Thanks for the clothing compliment, I do my best. :)) Honda Laura
I wanted a 15 civic exl but I ended up with an 16 Elantra Se with the preferred package and leather seats the cost was way less and plus my car had 9k when I got it and it was a better price but I’m happy with my purchase
honda civic coupe 2015? is it really different in body kit then the honda sedan? it certainly looks different especially with rear spoiler. please your opinion Honda Laura.
So even thought the Elantra was cheaper, it still had way more features that the Civic did not include! I honestly would not mind having a few reliability problems here and there if Im going to get a lot more features. Also, this is the last year for this gen elantra so its old and dated ,(for Hyundai's standard). To my eyes, aside from reliability, resale value and engine refinement, the Elantra won :) love your vids!
I'd Take the Hyundai although "The Honda Name" offers longevity and reliability it doesnt stand behind its product like hyundai does since Hyundai offers a 100,000 powertrain warranty and honda only 60,000 miles. I.E.... Your warranty isn't as big as your mouth.
I'm an owner of an 18 year old Civic that has been very good to me (even got stolen and found it's way back to me). I'm currently in the market for a new car and the '15 Civic is just a let down. Rear drum brakes in 2015?
+P w Yea, kind of a bummer although the performance is awesome and the brakes last longer that disc. Good feedback, thanks for sharing. :)) Honda Laura
completely sponsored. i have driven the hyundai elantra recently and quite loved it. the civic i haven't stepped foot in yet...but i do have a test drive scheduled....however you can't beat hyundai and kia warranties!!! the civic did NOT have a moonroof...major pitfall...some food for thought... -G
Ahsan Siddiqui Resale on the Hyundai is much better than what it used to be. Honda has always been the king of resale (according to ALG) :)) Honda Laura
I brought an elantra and my dad has an civic I drive a lot so the elantra got 100,000 mileage and after that my transmission broke I had to fix it with a lot money then the engine and the front two brake got broke. Then I didn't fix it and brought a 2016 civic. The elantra can last 100,000 mileages but the civic can last 300,000 milesages
I have a 2000 hyundai elantra manual transmission with 226,000 on the dash and my engine and transmission are still running strong. It's more of the automatics that break down around 100-150 range. But it's mainly all about maintenance.
aigalaxy Funny you ask. We do have some stuff lined up. I swear sometimes and that's usually when some of the bloopers are going on lol. We will look through to see if we have enough. Thanks for the suggestion. :)) Honda Laura
Have to say... Honda does have a history of very reliable engines, but the Elantra is super dependable and those engines take s good beating. My 2006 Elantra just got totaled from a pretty bad accident, but it had 102,000 miles on it and was running as good if not better than when I bought it in 2010. Easily had another 100,000 miles on it at least. With that said, I'm currently debating between a civic and an Elantra for my next vehicle. Sadly, this video wasn't very helpful. Lol. Good effort though
Here in Puerto Rico some people complain honda look for excuses to don,t honor the warranty, meanwhile nobody here complain about hyundai warranty. Also is the most steal it cars after Toyota.
I will take whichever car as long as Laura comes with it,love that mini skirt you are wearing for 2015 Civic vs Toyota review. If you wear brand names you will get noticed and get free clothes from manufactures. But on a serious note ,nobody said the very importang thing:THE RESALE value of HONDA is so much HIGHER.In order for Hyundai the go head to head ,Hyundai will have to offer LOWER PRICE.
Excellent review girl but in my opinion this is like comparing Cheerios with Great Value Walmart brand, so if you our ok with inferior quality it's fine.
nothing was explained why honda had more "longevity." it's like a girl saying I like the honda better because it looks better... oh wait, that pretty much happened.
Why does the Honda not have the lane watch system on both side mirrors instead of one on the right mirror. I would probably buy the Honda Civic if both the side mirrors had it.
Since you are already Turing right to turn, it convenient to look at the screen, there's no room to turn left and look at the screen which is to the right of you, it just doesn't make sense.
I like your reviews i watch all your reviews but i want to watch 2015 honda accord Ex vs Hyundai sonata sport if possible please. buy the way i like honda more then hyundai
kishan patel Thanks for sharing! We will see what gets the most suggestions on TH-cam, Facebook and by email. We have the Sonata on the list now, thanks. :)) Honda Laura
+MercedezsBenz Because I'm from Mars, the planet Mars. I should probably put that in the disclosure. What planet are you from? I hope not earth, earthlings can be boring. :) Just busting you, I'm Italian lol.
I can't believe how incomparable the two are. Honda ad: 2011 Honda Si 100 k cert and etested. Hyundai ad: 2011 Hyundai Genesis 100 k engine rebuild, tranny slipping 100 k as is-
grt0910 Thanks GRT! We added an annotation to the video good catch. City MPG: 30 Hwy MPG: 39 Combined MPG: 33 Actual rating will vary with options, driving conditions, habits and vehicle condition. ;)) Honda Laura

+LIMPEH HENG ONG yes , I bought a 2016 Hyundai Elantra which I do love but I did not think of getting one with a push bottom , I would have but did not think . That is my only regret , other than that , I am very satisfied with this car , I also checked the Honda civic although I like it , I prefer the Hyundai Elantra
Heatwd seats are there
hyundai gives 10 years 100.000 miles warranty, honda gives you only 3 years 36.000 miles.
Hyundai warranty is unbeatable 10 years 100.000 Miles
I just bought my 2016 Hyundai Elantra 2 days ago... &' I freaking love it! The performance is way better than the civic. I was going to but the civic... But I'm glad I waited to test drive the Elantra.

I'd Take the Hyundai although "The Honda Name" offers longevity and reliability it doesnt stand behind its product like hyundai does since Hyundai offers a 100,000 powertrain warranty and honda only 60,000 miles. I.E.... Your warranty isn't as big as your mouth.
premium mid sized sedan comparison .... hope to seeing suzuki sub 19 lacs sedan also in this segment ....
The resale is good so I'm sure you could trade for an Elantra. We don't hear these concerns often.
hyundai win
+심재문 FTW :) Honda Laura
awesome Laura again very good presentation
Honda is #1 in the world. Thanks Laura for this video. :)
Just started the video... Value edition vs special edition? Is that fair?
Hey Kelly, they are very close in price, equipment, and engine specs -Honda Laura
After buying both the honda is the best option by far
I prefer the Hyundai, but i want the tires from the Civic.
+Sven Dijkstra Thanks for sharing Sven, welcome back! :)) Honda Laura
I see Hankook on Hyundai. I prefer Goodyear tires.
+Sven Dijkstra hankook tire is really good!:(
way to much hand movements and crap lol.
She must be a weather forecaster
completely sponsored. i have driven the hyundai elantra recently and quite loved it. the civic i haven't stepped foot in yet...but i do have a test drive scheduled....however you can't beat hyundai and kia warranties!!! the civic did NOT have a moonroof...major pitfall...some food for thought... -G
whats the resale for hyundai? Of course that would depend upon the level of current sales for it.
Ahsan Siddiqui Resale on the Hyundai is much better than what it used to be. Honda has always been the king of resale (according to ALG) :)) Honda Laura
Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk thanks for the prompt response.
I was hoping that you could tell me which one i should choose
I say Civic! - laura
I like Toyota better than Honda or Hyundai, but this isn't even a competition the civics gonna outlast the Hyundai by years and years. JDM FTW
+JDM Toyota JDM FTW for sure. Thanks for joining in. :)) Honda Laura
What about the 2017 Elantra vs. 2016 Civic?
great suggestion! -Honda Laura
You guys should
The 2017 Elantra is much more better Car than the Civic !!!
Nunca que o Elantra é mais carro que o Civic..SE LIGA..TA TIRANDO É
No i've try Civic 2016 is better car in 2016 "For 7 years honda is the #1 in the world"
Thanks for the info comparisons 😊
+Follower of CHRIST You're welcome. :)) Honda Laura
Hey Laura! just a thought, how about a video of your funny moments? would be nice to watch!
aigalaxy Funny you ask. We do have some stuff lined up. I swear sometimes and that's usually when some of the bloopers are going on lol. We will look through to see if we have enough. Thanks for the suggestion. :)) Honda Laura
she look great in white dress :D with black coat on top :O cute tho
Go Honda Civic! Honda Laura knows wassup!
Thanks for watching Kevin! -Honda Laura
Jose P HMMMM Haven't heard that before. Might want to try a different dealer? :) Honda Laura
Honda Civic more dependable? Hmmmm.....which one of these cars has a ten year 100,000 mile powertrain warranty again? I forgot.
Excellent review girl but in my opinion this is like comparing Cheerios with Great Value Walmart brand, so if you our ok with inferior quality it's fine.
HYUNDAI ELANTRA THE BESTT!!!! ;)
Btw great review!! Thumbs up!!
+Liven Elantra thx
Great comparison Laura. Could you please do a VW Jetta 1.8TSI petrol (DSG automatic gearbox) Vs Honda CIVIC 1.8 i-vtech Automatic Review
scorpionbeware It's on the list, we do our videos based on feedback volume. Thanks for asking. ;) Honda Laura
The Elantra's screen is literally way to to small!
+Gavin Chen It was small although I did like some of the features... :) Honda Laura
nothing was explained why honda had more "longevity." it's like a girl saying I like the honda better because it looks better... oh wait, that pretty much happened.
I love the honda Elantra, better than the Hyundai civic 😎
Thanks for the feedback!
look like she have no idea what she is talking (reading a board behind the camera)
+Kishan Sri lol no. It's on the fly ;)) Honda Laura
nice ..like your hand movement too. want to see some quick fixes for Accord
Yasser Imran Thanks for sharing Yasser. ;) Honda Laura
hyundai is better in many ways
+kim harris Thanks for sharing... :)) Honda Laura
Just a thought you should do a comparison on the hybrid accord and fusion hybrid
Matthew Keleman Hey Matthew! We will talk to Scott and Brian to see what they think about the Hybrid Shootout. Thanks for asking. :)) Honda Laura
Hyundai not hyundie
I bought Elantra about
21000 $
I hope if I saw this video before
thanks
+Marsowl Alsahely Congrats on the Hyundai. Let us know the ups and downs, our viewers love to hear from owners. Thanks for joining in. :) Honda Laura
I really like the interior of Honda's civic but, the exterior is horrible.
She couldn't talk if you were holding her hands! Probably Italian. LOL
+joseph D'Amato LOL you know it Joe. ;)) Honda Laura
Why does the Honda not have the lane watch system on both side mirrors instead of one on the right mirror. I would probably buy the Honda Civic if both the side mirrors had it.
Julien Michael Great question Julien! I will look into that one. :) Honda Laura
+Julien Michael simply because its used for watching bikes lanes and for parking because the right side is always facing the curb.
Since you are already Turing right to turn, it convenient to look at the screen, there's no room to turn left and look at the screen which is to the right of you, it just doesn't make sense.
I pick the elantra 2016
+LIMPEH HENG ONG Thanks for sharing. Our viewers love to hear it. :) Honda Laura
Cual es mejor ?
The elantra looks way stylish
Thanks for sharing! -HL
Laura can do a review of my 2014 CIVIC COUPE EX anytime. My I-VTEC is roaring for you Laura ; )
Clark Kent ;)) Thanks for the roaring comment :)) Honda Laura
Good review Laura 😘
Cesar Rivera Thanks Cesar :)) Honda Laura
Another bias vid 🤣 I just watch a vid from hyundai saying how superior their car is and here how honda is superior
that is not the 2016 elantra its the 2015
I like your reviews i watch all your reviews but i want to watch 2015 honda accord Ex vs Hyundai sonata sport if possible please.

kishan patel Thanks for sharing! We will see what gets the most suggestions on TH-cam, Facebook and by email. We have the Sonata on the list now, thanks. :)) Honda Laura
I love the music!!!😂😂😂🎶🎶🎶🎶
Christian Monteverdi Thanks Christian! :)) Honda Laura
Why are her gestures so exaggerated?
+MercedezsBenz Because I'm from Mars, the planet Mars. I should probably put that in the disclosure. What planet are you from? I hope not earth, earthlings can be boring. :) Just busting you, I'm Italian lol.
+Herb Chambers Honda of Seekonk I think you are from Planet out to lunch.
Civic wins hands down
XXtheJUMPoffXX Thanks for sharing. Honda Civic FTW!! :)) Honda Laura
No way that Elantra can compete with the Civic.
uniroyalbarrie Honda FTW. Hi Barrie!!! ;)) Honda Laura
I can't believe how incomparable the two are. Honda ad: 2011 Honda Si 100 k cert and etested. Hyundai ad: 2011 Hyundai Genesis 100 k engine rebuild, tranny slipping 100 k as is-
Cant wait until I get my Elantra GT!!!
L1nx Good luck with it. Let us know your first impressions! Honda Laura :))
the civic looks very old like its a 2010 model
Of course the quality of materials are not as good as the civic it's a Hyundai everything about it is cheap
MrHess9298 Thanks for sharing Mr. Hess. Honda FTW. ;)) Honda Laura
Honda LIKE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but this is no no
The hands are too much. I had to stop watching. Probably a good video tho.
+Colby C Those hands lol ;)) Honda Laura
dual screens are disturbing
First, she knows nothing about the cars.
Second, Hyundai doesn't stand a before Honda.
Thrid, She's not hott!
+Venky B lol :) Honda Laura
+Venky B you're a dumb but i agree with you
This is not a job. This is called public humilation. You don't know what your talking about half of the time
Gabriel George Almost 2 million views and you helped. I know our videos aren't for everyone, many like them, some don't. Don't forget to subscribe lol. ;)) Honda Laura

already 2016 and u still need a key to start the engine, oh dear!!!!!
I think so, I love the elantra too.
Элантра лучшая!
+RoboGERIX Спасибо, что поделился Honda Laura ;))
