Guys, please note, in order to get the same results as Mr. W.Cambridge Leather you need to use 3.38mm pricking/stiching iron. If you use higher/lower spi count, stiches on pockets wount be as nice as his and you will end with short/long stich at some point. Warm regards, Ivan
Nice Looking wallet I was wondering about the releaf cut you made @6:57/8:57 you don't have this on your pattern and I didn't see you cut this on your video should we be making this cut?
Good evening Dave, apologies, this is an oversight on my behalf. I'd say this step isn't crucial. Having said that, it definitely allows the wallet to fold easier.
Well, I found your channel by mistake but it's very usefull for who wants to starts leather working and creating some stuff especially with the given pattern for free ! I'm crafting leather stuff for a couple of year just for fun and I really appreciate that people like your are sharing their experiences and patterns it allows me to see new thecniques and hints =D I hope the best for your channel ! Greetings from Algeria !
@@W.CambridgeLeatherCraft thanks, and what about the circular cutout on the back panel? it isnt marked on the pattern, but i see it in the video :) does that have a function or merely design?
I've been watching your videos and at same time learning how to make wallet through your channel and I think am ready to start my journey with your little guidance; very much appreciated. Please I want you to assist me with the selection of tools as fresh starter, i mean the basic tools for wallet.
Thats really nice to hear! I'm glad you find the video useful. Regarding tools there are a few routes you can go down. Firstly you can buy a starter kit off amazon (all the tools will be low quality, but you'll have everything you need) secondly you can collate a small collection of higher quality tool from your domestic leather craft wholesaler. Or you can look on ebay/Facebook for people selling their kits. I started with an amazon kit, its perfect because if you don't enjoy it the craft you haven't lost too much money.
I'm trying to make wallets and it turns out that when I cut the molds, I have maybe an uneven millimeter left, they never fit straight! What I have to do? . Thanks in advance for your help.
I'm confused, why does the pattern have dotted lines around the edges, and then stitch lines past those? I cut mine out and started assembling it, and it seems really big.
@@W.CambridgeLeatherCraft no need to apologize! Thank you for making it free to us! I had a lot of fun making it! I used 4mm pricking irons, is that about what you use?
I follow everything and it is so straightforward HOWEVER, I have played it over and over and towards the end I can see one side being stitched to the back while the other end is floppy and unstitched. AND that is the shorter piece. Then we cut to the end of the video and somehow the shorter piece meets the longer piece... so how is that transition made?? Is that why it is not closing? I am very grateful for this upload, thank you. PCS
you have given 2 edges in the template (I'm talking about the longest pieces). Will there be any problem if I make 2 of these short pieces? I don't like the edge extension on the wallet you made, I want to destroy it.
Be nice if you talked people through the process......As someone that is just getting into leather work i need to know things you are doing or would be nice to know.......
Very nice! How do you handle 90 degree corners with diamond shaped punches such as on your wallets? I downloaded your PDF and it appears that you punch the corners twice, making a hole in the shape of an "x".
Make the stitching holes along the edges of the leather in the usual way, except for the single hole in the corner. Make this corner hole with something like a round or scratch awl or a dart head; tis will give you a round hole which doesn't have any slant or corners.
This is Great work you’ve done there! I have a question! How comes that the lining of the Most outer piece is not c crumbling together…? I’ve tried it like this but it always ends looking crumbled in the middle. Is there a trick or is it the special leather you’re using for it?
Hi there! Thanks, the only thing I can think of suggesting that might remedy your issue is to glue your two pieces of leather together over the arm of your sofa at home. By doing this you will relieve the stress on the outer peice of leather and it won't crumble. Hope this helps mate!
i made it, that was my first wallet. proud of the result, thank you sir.
