LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12 (S), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
After a long wait, here is Android 12L for the Samsung Galaxy S6! Though it is a beta with some issues, I figure I release it.

YOU missed a step you must enable developer option by pressing 9 times build then enable usb debugging only then TWRP WILL INSTALL

be careful when downloading lineage os and twrp versions, the s6 and s6 edge have different versions for one another! the s6 edge is zerolte while the s6 is zeroflte
Excellent tutorial. Just upgraded my 920F using this tutorial. Only one part that should be explained is that after flashing the TWRP recovery, if you cannot go into the recovery mode (mine was stuck at Updating and then no command with the android bot lying on the floor with crosses in eyes), you should try flashing the TWRP again using ODIN and then as soon as the phone restarts, do not give it the chance to turn on again and immediately press the home, power and volume up buttons to boot it into straight into the TWRP recovery mode. If you allow the phone to restart after you flash the TWRP using ODIN in the downloading mode, it will will wipe the TWRP and you would not be able to go into the TWRP recovery mode to continue with installing the Custom ROM and the GApps, so just sharing a roadblock I ran into when coming from the stock Android 7.0 ROM.

Best tutorial ive seen, just followed it step by step and it worked.
I have been having a problem with the device, it does not want to connect to a network but the sim is reading, It is a g925f and that is part if the reason why I installed android 12 but still isnt connecting to a network
Did u try manually searching for a network?
@@TheRealAndroidDoctor yes, once it pulls up the names of the networks available, I tap on the one I want, it says at the bottom of the network "couldn't connect"
That's weird mine connects, try rebooting taking out the sim then placing it back in
@@TheRealAndroidDoctor Did not work, took to the repairs a couple of days ago, but they said nothing was wrong on the hardware
Try flashing the stock rom back to the phone to fix it

Thank you so much for sharing this information. At first the twrp didn't work for me and I had to use another one. When I try to install the lineage I get an error in the installation. I will try with another custom ROM. My cellphone is a samsung s6 edge -Greetings!

Hey, I was wondering, is there a noticable difference in how fast the s6 feels? Also does using lineage let you free up a lot of space? I'm kinda running out and the device feels sluggish, and i think it's for software reasons. I would like to give this a shot, but I'm wondering if it's worth it.
Try it out if u dont like it u can always revert to your original firmware
immense difference. Feels snappier and the battery last definetly longer. also the customazation options are insane 🎉
I have installed all aosp roms for galaxy s6 and i don't understand why it lags in some apps like youtube and the phone heats up fast despite heavy inactivity and the battery drains very fast. Then I'm back ultimate oreo note 8 port and it works perfectly, not hot, good battery and smooth operation. However, there are still some errors especially the front camera does not work. However we can still use open camera .This is probably the best rom for s6 that i have used till now even though it has stopped updating

Will the galaxy s6 get android 13 lineage os 20.1? Beacuse my Galaxy S6 is still running Android 12 as my stable daily driver still in 2023

Even if the TWRP file is "zeroflte", does it works on S6 Edge? I read in a comment that the name "zeroflte" was for S6, and the "zerolte" was for S6 Edge. Idk if this can cause a fatal error and kill my phone. Im asking before I do all this, so if you can answer me, I'd appreciate it
Update: Today I've installed the OS and apparently there's no problem, just make sure of wipe the device bc that was I do and the OS enter into a boot loop, so if you have the same problem, you can access to the TWRP again, first pressing the volume down button + home + on/off button. Inmediatly the logo of galaxy appears, press the volume up button + home + on/off button, and you can connect the device to your computer and modificate all the docs in your phone. I will update the progress in this days, it's Tuesday 11th of 2025 and i'm gonna test this OS for a month (excuse me for the inglish, is this or google translate lol)
Also I appreciate the author of this video and the community that make this possible, even if this not work anymore in the future, guys you are amazing making this thinks

While following your excellent guide, step by step when restarting it only goes into Recovery Mode and not the TWRP, what can it be.

i have an s6 edge + and have tried multiple times to do this but it never goes past trying to start TWRP. all that happens is the screen icons at the bottom either side of the home key flicker 2 or 3 times and then nothing....help :)

@nitrofl3x download tge stock firmware for your phone from samfw.com then use odin to flash it to your phone to fix it

but do remember to use the latest version of the stockbfirmware for your galaxy s6 or it wont work download it from samfw.com check the dates next to the firmwares then download it and use odin to flash it to your phone exactly like shown in the video

Hello! I love what you do! I can't get into TWRP. Why does No Command appear after passing AP (up+home+power)? From here I can't go any further and up to this point everything is like you in the video... Phone S6 (G920F). Thank you!
U have the same exact model as me so it should wirk once u follow the steps correctly
So idk if you've gotten it fixed, but what i think u had been doing is turning on the phone after odin did its thing, and that caused the oem recovery to reinstall itself. So instead of letting odin auto boot be ready to push the volume up button to put it into twrp recovery, so untick auto reboot in odin 1st the try flash twrp again then hold down all the pysical buttons to force power off the phone then get ready to qhickly press volume up home and power buttons to go into twrp recovery

You know that Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge has remote on the top of the phone
I finally got to the last screen where android 12 is installing but it is taking ages and after nemerous circle and downward crescent lines and then the samsung start logo it keeps on cycling through that. How long on average does the new OS take to install?
Try go back into twrp and wipe cache then reboot

The twrp are corrupted it will not work eny more on Odin failed all the time

problem : i do exactly what you told, but when i tried to boot into the recovery, the twrp screen flick and immediately reboot again until i don't hold it and it just reboots back and i can't really do anything to get it into recovery mode ( pls help me )

Try reinstall it wirhout the gapps
The TWRP image won't copy using ODIN so the reboot only uses the default bootloader. I simply get the message "succeed 0 / failed 1". Any ideas what might be preventing it?
Don't forget to copy/past the Linear and mindtheGApps into you phone

When u get to the part in the video where i use tje button combinations volume up home & power to go into twrp recovery instead of installing the android 12 rom straight away just look for the backup & restore option and create a back up 1st then follow the rest if the video to do the install if u dont want to keep android 12 simply boot back into twrp then select reatore back uo to revert back to your original firmware
@@TheRealAndroidDoctor Isn't it better to make a backup onto another device like ur laptop incase the phone gets wiped completely?
Also what is rooting? Do I need to do this before I start this process?
@@lapitop4206 no root needed also when u back up the perform the factory wipe it wont wipe the partition where the backup is saved unless u select advanced wipe & wipe the system so do not do that just follow my steps after u do the backup and everything should be ok
