As a mythology scholar, I am quaking! I'm so in love with the story of Theseus and the labyrinth and this video presents the story with a whole new ending where the minotaur isn't slain but saved o m g I love La Dispute so much
Yeah, that's a cool idea :3
I saw it as a reference to a dealing with a tragic break up. The Minotaur is wallowing wishing himself to be alone forever in his misery; rightfully deserved or not. Many have tried to get him to return to Society but inevitably, those people gave up and just left their trail behind. However the original one he hurt, and is the reason he punishes himself (for ruining it with her), unexpectedly pays him a visit. And instead of a scolding like he expects she just says “I forgive you” and the Minotaur is at least reluctantly ready to move forward but comes to towards the end as you see… yet he doesn’t know how or if he even deserves this second chance, hence the look of “do I really deserve this?” When the Minotaur is finally out.
How do you know the people weren't waiting for the minotaur to emerge, so they could slay it?
I'm so glad they're making new music even if their new stuff is kinda different.
They were my best friends' favorite band and he got me really into them when wildlife came out, they quickly became a favorite too. He passed away around this time last year and it kinda took me a while to listen to them again because of all the feelings I had attached to their music, I got a tattoo from Sad Prayers where Jordan says "What is life without purpose, what is purpose without love?" cause it was one his favorites songs. Their music was always so full of raw emotion and they'll always hold a place in my heart. I hope you hear this song somehow, Dominic. I miss you a lot man.

I feel like story is about rescueing an minotaur from a maze?? Like yeah girl with light blue rope followed other colored ropes and got there, found him. But she didnt decided to run or so. She helped him and that seemed so nice
The instrumentals that start at 1:37 are some of the most beautiful this band has created.

Footsteps at the pond. Bootprints in snow on hills sloped downward toward water and toward broken ice. Had that vision all summer in the same place driving back and forth between homes while we were writing. This song is about reckoning with flaws, about letting the best people down, about nearly drowning but for them.

@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 I've heard a shit ton of things that blow me away for sure, Breakdown of Sanity, Polaris, early Veil of Maya Etc. But there's just something about the atmosphere of this and Erra's early stuff that can really transform your view and take you away to a whole new world. Strange Euphoric thing that might not have the same effect on everybody I guess?
@@camdenwyeth316 Yeah, I mean the reason why your comment stood out from the rest to me is because I'm more for metalcore, and nothing against LD, but I almost feel like Movements is more of my cup of tea for that style. I guess atmospheric wise The Contortionist (not that into their latest album) and some of Between The Buried And Men's material is the most progressive and out there I get other than Erra, who I believe still releases great material. JT just needs more work changing up his vocal style and something about the drumming on their latest album bothers me at times. Has nothing to do with their guitar work.
@@jasonlovesmusicreacting882 Yeah I can see that. I'm mostly into metalcore and deathcore as well. Can totally agree on that stuff about Erra, but I still believe their first two albums were pretty much perfection. Tesseract and BTBAM are great too but haven't listened to them too much yet.

This is really amazing, the lyrics and the video play so perfect together, reminded me of a short story called The house of Asterión, if you loved this song maybe you will like that short story too. They are pretty similar from different point of views about the same topic. All my love to La Dispute!!! ♡

Rooms of the House and to a lesser extent Wildlife were a massive part of my life between my last year of highschool and all throughout my first year of university. I'm going into my last semester in 2 weeks and to have La Dispute put out a new album finally feels very fitting.
Powerful sound with cool animation! Really stoked for a new album!
So stoked for the new record, love the new ideas they bring in, not to mention the visuals in the last 2 videos :)
BUT: as with the last song, please, please turn up the vocals before releasing the album if that's still possible! First thought it was just me, but most people seem to have a problem understanding the lyrics as they are so burried in the mix. And the wonderful lyrics are something that defined the band since the start :\
I really am so stoked for the new album - one of my most anticipated things in 2019! I wish the vocals were slightly louder, but I assume there may have been some reasoning behind it being so low. Here's to a merry 2019, y'all!

Finally understand the video...
I wish the vocals were a little more present in the mix too, although I know that this is a conscious decision by the band and engineer. It's common for this type of music for the guitars to be at the front of the mix and the vocals are pulled back, being blended in almost like another instrument. They have done this in their earlier music as well :)
Buy the CD sounds way cleaner!!
I like it. However, I didn't leave in awe like I did with the Fulton Street release. Still have high expectations for this album! Might just have to give it a few more listens to understand the song better.

La Dispute as a whole is an amazingly talented band, but the focal point of their music has always been Jordan’s ability to passionately tell a story and it’s hard to get lost in that essential aspect of the bands music when you can’t hear a word Jordan is saying. It is especially bad in this track. He might as well be saying nothing at all as soon as the song builds up because he’s drowned out by everything else that’s going on, which sounds incredible by the way, but I think would be more effective if the vocals didn’t become such an afterthought at these climatic points in the music. Really hope this gets fixed prior to release.
