Sadly, the author of Singularity announced that support of the addon manager was discontinued on June 19th, 2021 due to the inability to cover costs and removal requests from some addon authors. 😥
@@YoPotato I would place WowUp in the S-tier now. They have made some great changes since I made this video. I would also add that the Wago App addon manager looks really promising! They are still working on getting addon developers into their repository. Once that is done I could see it overtaking the others (it allows you to update WeakAuras at the same time, donate to authors, etc...)
I love wowmatrix , great bring portable . but for rare used less mainstean addons it will say update but downgared the addon. but it works 99.9% of the time now , as they seem to hhave more are less fixed this bug. i love portable appes on ext drive so i can have my apps on any system.
That was super interesting. I didn’t even know there’s alternatives to Overwolf/Curse and WowUp. Great to see new wow content creators. Looking forward to more of your videos.
Thanks Markus, glad you enjoyed it! It is cool to see how many developers are working to make our lives easier as players. You can tell that a lot of thought has gone into making these managers so I am happy I could highlight a few lesser-known ones.
Good content here. Well described, clear and concise. I was gonna use Singularity, but it looks like has been discontinued as of June 19th, 2021 (as previous commentors mentions) but I am gonna give WoWup a try. Thank you for the info
Great video. The only one I now use is Wow up. Did not like Overwolf at all. As for backing up my addon's all I do is copy the Addon folder and than past it into another location on my computer or send it to the cloud. That way it saves the addon's settings.
Thanks clute! I used WowUp for a while and really liked it. It is so fast and easy to use. Being able to backup addons to the cloud is so nice. It would be so painful to have to redo all my addon settings at this point lol.
I have a question or a topic for you. I have yet to find anyone to have a video on how to successfully "RESTORE" a backed up wtf folder and interface folder. I reset windows and my World of Warcraft got wiped now i backed up all my files that i needed to do but i couldn't for the life of me find a way to successfully insert the old backed up files into a new copy of world of warcraft. do you think you could help!
I just started playing again since 2019 when classic initially launched, I used ajour and found out it's dead and barely works anymore so I ended up resorting to WoWUp but it seems like it doesn't want to update/install a lot of addons I always used.
It was not, but I may have to redo the breakdown to include it because I love the direction that Wago's manager is headed (especially now that Singularity went under)
Sadly Singularity is gone. Otherwise, all of these managers are still working and there is another manager that came out after I made this; the Wago Addon Manager (addons.wago.io/). WowUp is what I am using now and they have implemented some new features since I made this. Hoping to make a 2022 update soon.
@@ArcaneIntellect Looks like WowUp is almost done for, right now I can not update DBM which probably means that Curse finally changed the API to require a key.
Tried Overwolf and didn't like having to run a module in the background just because, switched to Ajour and have been very happy with it. I miss the background update I'm pretty sure Curse had. It checked every hour and just updated addons as they became available.
Ajour is great! I'm not sure how often it checks for updates, but there is an option in Ajour's settings to "Automatically Apply New Updates When Available." I would guess that it only checks when you launch or refresh. I am sure you have to click refresh at the top of the "My Addons" tab.
I wanted to just get into Classic Wrath without addons and enjoying the journey but i mean... screw that 🤣. It's just too brutal to try and find mobs, i got to lvl 12 and finally said screw this, i need Questie lol. People are blowing by me, CLEARLY moving with a purpose, knowing exactly where to go and i'm lumbering around like an arseclown.
I loathe Overwolf/Curseforge. I would give that a Z if that was an option. ROFL Now that WoWUp is not allowed to use the Curse API, I'll be looking into others. Good video. Thanks!
Thanks, I agree. I'm not a fan of the strongarm tactics being used by Overwolf. I'm hoping that the Wago addon manager (addons.wago.io/) takes off. They are working on building their own repository to get around CurseForge and WowUp has already partnered with them. Just need to get the addon authors to buy into Wago which shouldn't be hard. Wago offers a higher percentage of ad revenue split with authors (85% vs 70%) and they are going to make it possible for players to subscribe to authors to support development!
Overwolf is the main one but Wago has also created an addon manager since I made this which distributes ad revenue and allows you to donate to developers directly!

Almost a year later, with Singularity now not available, which addon manager do you now see as S tier?

@@ArcaneIntellect WoWUP is dead now, doesn't allow you to update key addons anymore.
@@TomEJSawyer I mainly use wowup, now is dead, what do you use now?

Was wagos addon manager available when this video way made? if so would be cool if it was included

Cursebreaker is pretty good but just lacks a ui. Which isn't much of an issue for me.
True, I think a lot of people are intimidated by the "coding" aspect, but it really is a great addon manager!
Are any of these Addon Managers broken or still useable at this time?

you can actually use Curseforge now without Overwolf
wowup has ads now T_T and curse forge is using WAY less ram
Overwolf I think is the only one that pays addon developers, I can put up with my data being sold so these people get paid for their hard work
Overwolf is the main one but Wago has also created an addon manager since I made this which distributes ad revenue and allows you to donate to developers directly!
