Thanks to Sagar and team for organizing this meet-up. My 6 year old thoroughly enjoyed and as someone who loves paying chess he will cherish this for his entire life.
Gukesh acknowledging what Sagar and Amurta have done for chess is so heartwarming. A ton of times i see people giving all the credit to Samay, but Sagar along with Amruta have been at it since way before. Love samay too btw, its just for me Chessbase India have been there since no one really cared about chess online, their clout was barely anything, their streams had very less concurrent watchers etc. so i absolutely love to have their efforts recognized and presented to the world ♥
@@sk-ig4wtIt is a style of communication (often toxic) some people are fond of, to create animosity among two parties when there originally wasn't any. 😅😅😅
I drove 4 hours from Ottawa to Toronto and 5 hours back to Ottawa for this event. It was such a great event; it was like the comment section of ChessBase India came to life. Everyone was discussing chess, ChessBase India, Gukesh, and the candidates with so much passion. The other members in the park were amazed at the commotion. People attending the event took the time to explain the greatness of this movement to them.Thank you, Sagar, for organizing this event. It will be an unforgettable event in my life. And yes, Gukesh has the patience of a saint. The crowd was a bit much, but he took pictures with a smile until the end.
2:06 "They're just family for me". What Gukesh said here really struck a cord with me, because ever since he said to Amruta, with the most genuine smile "Ofcourse I wanted to say hi to you" right after winning the tournament I have been thinking of that statement so much. In a way, it revealed so much of what Sagar and Amruta mean to this new generation of Indian chess players. I feel that Sagar and Amruta, not having kids of their own, must feel these young players as their own. Because they have been with them almost from the start of their journey, in good times as well as in bad just like ones parents do, and covering all kinds of tournaments they played in. You can see that special connection in the countless number of vlogs and various random footage on their channel. No matter what, Chessbase India, Sagar & Amruta are a constant in the Indian Chess scene, and I hope they continue to be for many years to come.
In which video did he said hi to amruta? Could you please share me the link of that video? I absolutely love both sagar and amruta for their hard work!
I might be too old to learn chess, but there are a few things that I hope to inculcate from him: his level of self-discipline, grit, determination, passion towards his job. He is also extremely kind towards people, agreed to do a meetup after winning the candidates for free. He was polite, calm and composed. I only wish I can be half as good of a person he is at just 17. Hope you achieve your dreams Gukesh.
You are never too old to learn this beautiful game, not everyone plays professionally, you can still do it as a hobby with friends and family at bars and cafes. It's always great to listen to a person while playing chess, he/she speaks their true self
What a wonderful human being GuKesh is. He is a genuine, nice, humble man and takes the time to meet all his fans even though he must have been exhausted. I have total respect for him, and I wish him good luck for the world championship 🙏 It would be amazing for him to become the youngest chess world champion in history and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy 😊 👍
New Zealand ChessBase India fan here. I love this channel because I think Sagar has the most wholesome, considerate personality in Chess media. I think it's pretty clear Gukesh has quite an introverted and humble personality and wouldn't ask to arrange a fan meet up of his own accord not because he doesn't care about his fans but because he probably does not see himself as someone self-important enough to have 200 people go out of their way to meet him. But i'm sure he really enjoyed the experience and was grateful to have Sagar and Amurta inspire him to do it. I am sure many decades from now when he looks back on his career he will remember very fondly the chance he got to meet and interact with his fans after winning the Candidates before his World Championship win (fingers crossed). And of course for the fans in Canada securing an opportunity for them to meet Gukesh is just a lovely thing to do for them too. Overall, just a very wholesome event that I'm sure was an extremely positive experience for both Gukesh and his fans. How wonderful to see Sagar and Amurta help a reserved but deserving star connect with his fanbase. They clearly are not milking Gukesh for as much content and revenue as possible but rather genuinely support him. I think that's beautiful to see from a Media organisation.
He said Sagar and his wife are Family for him . Gukesh’s parents did a great job turning him into this well mannered and humble human being. He will scale many heights. Chess will benefit from him. ✌️

For so many years Vishy's name was unanimous with chess. Us 90's kids grew up knowing about chess only because of Vishy. It is so heart warming to see post 2020 how chess has boomed in India. The credit goes to Chessbase India but not to forget that Samay's contribution has also been unreal. Vishy's statement calling this 'The golden era of chess' is so poetic.
