I'm rewatching this video 5 years later and it makes so much sense. I remember watching it 5 years ago and not understanding why they were breaking up, why loving each other wasn't "enough", but now it makes so much sense. Relationships can get monotonous and even boring, and people in lesbian relationships have the tendency to become codependent and isolated (even more so during the pandemic) and so this video makes so much sense now. I thought it was the end of love, the end of hope, that you two broke up but it was actually the beginning of hope, it was probably freeing for you both to realise you had other options and you could go on and do other things in life.
It was great rewatching the video with new eyes.

@@asdfghjkl_0747 I think the way to avoid this is to have a separate life from your partner. They worked together and were kind of each other's bosses and that dynamic is not good.
Like yes, it could happen with a new partner and also yes, I think they could have made it work if they wanted and if they changed the relationship dynamic. But often when you are in that dynamic you loose the love for your partner because you see them differently, so they did what they thought was best for them and broke up. But in general I feel like I've been here with my partner and the way to get out of it is having different jobs that you have to go to an office or somewhere else to do, having separate friends (at least some), not be closeted (because all that hiding is not good for relationships in the long run) and hang out with friends together too, just having a good social life and more to think about other than the relationship.

This video must have been very hard to make, edit and post. I'm usually one to respect privacy and not ask for details but thank you. Thank you so much for sharing this part of your life and taking the time to discuss this decision with us. It truly helps. As much as I've always loved watching both of you, I found myself not able to watch or enjoy any of your personal videos. No matter how hard I tried, the breakup felt like a big mysterious black cloud preventing me from enjoying any of your recent content. Today, I feel like I can see the break up just as it is. I feel like I can move on with you two and follow both of your personal journeys. And that feels good. Also, I can relate completely about your decision, having taken the same one myself for similar reasons some time ago. Now that I'm older I'm realising they did that in a very adult way. There's always a lot of negative, weird, confusing emotions during a break up and they could have easily given in to that but they never did anything petty towards each other, even now. To be honest, this video was not sad to me, it made me feel calm, and relaxed and... Gave me hope. I mean, I am not saying that they are trying to give us hope, but we don't know the future. I follow these two ladies for years, since they started posting videos, and I already followed Shannon on tumblr, actually, before Cammie came around, and... It makes me feel so so so proud of them. At the end of the day, they are TWO NORMAL GIRLS, trying to find their place in this world, just like me, and you, and your friend, and everyone around us. And being famous, and in a relationship is hard as hell. They were no longer Shannon and Cammie, they were SHACAM, and that is hard for two strong girls like them. Let them have time now that they explained what happened, now let's support them and give them love, and enjoy their friendship, because I can't wait to see more videos of them together, and more pictures and everything. They need to be themselves, they need to grow as individuals and find themselves. My ex and I broke up for the same reason, or kind of, and I am not not saying I know what Shannon and Cammie are going through, but the thing, after seven months, I am finally ready to go there and try to see if there's still that feeling. Why people always choose these "reasons" to explain their break ups?? Yours didnt make ANY sense whatsoever. Personal growth? Wtf does it even mean in this context?? Your incredible love and care for each other impacted your ability to develop your personal talents and potential?? Your love was standing in the way of reaching your personal dreams?? realize tht it just means they just want to become more one in them ownselves and be more comfortable in who they really are . in order for one to feel truly happy in a relationship is for them to be more connect with their own being then just being with someone thinking they can feel up tht spot. one day they will prolly look back on this and be happy bc then they prolly did grow in some way w/o the other.
It makes perfect sense. They weren't growing together. Sure they love each other, but just love isn't enough. They've reached their potential and limit. The longer they stayed together, the likelihood of resentment will happen. They're young. Break ups happen even if they still care for each other. They just weren't truly satisfied and felt like they need to grow on their own since like I mentioned in the beginning, they weren't growing together.

My ex and I broke up because we felt like we weren't personally growing within ourselves, and because of that we started to feel unhappy as individuals which led to problems in our relationship. I think a part of it rested with putting all of our eggs in one basket, and not also having a basket for our own to use... if that makes sense? It's important to branch out so you can grow as a person and it's in unfamiliar territory where that happens. Trying new things, in different ways and going out of your comfort zone. Without realising or wanting to, your relationship can make you comfortable and eventually you'll stop growing. You feel like time is moving without you. My ex and I, we fucking loved each other. Just like Cammie and Shannon. We hit a breaking point, and something had to give. It was us. You're not always equipped to know what to do before it happens. It's nothing to blame yourself over because that's actually part of your first step to 'self-discovery'. Letting go of a love that feels so comfortable it feels like home. You'll discover yourself in foreign places, in journeys that feel difficult or impossible, and in people you wouldn't think you'd be friends with. You know... just witnessing a mere glimpse of their post break-up in a short pixelated video, I can tell you they love one another and it pierces their core. So their break-up doesn't mean the end, it means the beginning for both of them. No matter how their stories, as individuals, turn out to be like I will see them as individuals as the 'here and now' is more important. I will end by saying four things. 1) Strength and character will grow with learning, and we must never learn what it's like to stop learning. 2) Figure out how you can positively impact the world in your own way. 3) Do the best for YOU. No ifs, no buts. Take opportunities and work hard to be the best version of yourself. 4) Go vegan. Haha.

Hot Cheetos Yup. Even if she’d said ‘to be continued’ she wouldn’t be talking about the relationship. It was already over a few months by the time they posted this, and there was more bitterness behind it than we see in this video, but that’s normal for a breakup I think and they’re cool now and happy which is what matters. They’ve both been in new relationships a long time.
Sorry to ramble lol I didn’t even intend to, I guess the original comment bugged me because people still ‘ship’ them, likewise with Ally and Stevie and they’ve been over ages and these people shipping real life people they’ve never met and search for signs they’re still into each other blah blah, it’s the reason Stevie, Ally and Shannon are a lot more careful in sharing relationship stuff. It’s a real shame people couldn’t just let them go. I get that they were inspiring or whatever but people seem to forget that videos only show what creators want us to see - none of us truly know them or how compatible they are in real life.
Again sorry to go off, it’s just been bugging me. I interviewed Stevie and her persona is different, she’s extremely empathetic, she doesn’t like small talk and is happy to dive into the heavier stuff as she’s been through an awful lot, said herself she used to have a harder exterior before as a coping mechanism and it just struck me how people believe they know her from TH-cam and social media. She said even after making a video basically asking people to please stop talking about it and posting comments about it all the time. She says it gave them both a lot of anxiety and felt they had to be secretive when hanging in the same place or meeting up.
It’s just quite sad really that they put themselves out there for our entertainment but the rabid fan base has made them much more cautious and wary of what they share. I know they mean well but when they’re outright saying please don’t do this and they still do it shows a lack of respect and that people think they know them, like they are characters and not real people. I’m so sorry for writing a book I clearly have a lot of feelings on this topic 😂 I am friends with a content creator who I won’t name, she received numerous threads and accusations of cheating when she posted a breakup video that didn’t suggest anything of the sort.

I've seen this a thousand times and it shatters my heart. I feel like Shannon was so sad and she didn't want to break up with her. Just look at the way she looks at Cammie, how she looks at her lips. How she listened. I hope they manage to find happiness even if they're not together.
Okay, this is the first video I've ever seen of this couple so I don't know all the little details of their relationship. But based on this video, it doesn't sound like they needed to break up? Seems like they get along, still love each other, and would work as a couple. What I dislike is how people believe you must be single in order to work on yourself. (i.e personal growth like they mentioned). Why can't you focus on yourself while still being in a relationship? I'm in a relationship, and I feel like I can focus on myself and learn and grow as a person even though I have a boyfriend. Maybe they're spending TOO much time with each other? In which case, they could still keep the relationship, just make more time to do some independent things. Therapy even (not couples therapy, but personal therapy). Seems like couples these days think giving up and breaking up is the easy fix, so that's what they resort to. Kind of a shame.

I agree with Alexa. You don't need to break up with someone simply because you need to focus on yourself. I have a boyfriend as well and he is constantly focusing on himself and relies on what makes him happy, but also can maintain a relationship. If you spend too much time with someone you may not be doing the things you like to do which thus, creates this breakup, "personal growth". We're not saying we don't respect their decisions, it's just our input. It's the comment section for a reason ;)
My ex boyfriend stopped me from being able to find and BE myself. He basically wanted me to move to the other side of town for him, to study less, to not travel, and everything like meals and what we'd eat would need to be up to him, otherwise he'd guilt trip me. He was controlling, but didn't do it intentionally, and he loved me so much. You can love and respect someone a lot, but they can hold you back.

I remember watching this 6 years ago with my new girlfriend and being sooooo sad for you two....fast forward to today and I'm watching this again and we broke up a few months ago for precisely the same reasons...sometimes loving each other just isn't enough, everyone was just as shocked when we told them about the breakup, we regret nothing and learnt sooo much about ourselves and want only the best for ourselves and each other.
