Ok this is actually pretty damn useful. For those unaware, you can make a side hustle from buying old workstation PCs, upgrading them to have 4-6 core CPUs, the GPUs mentioned in the Pinned comments, etc. and you can make a ~50-100 dollar profit. That's because you can make cheap gaming PCs that can still run AAA titles with 60FPS+. The fact that he's showing us how to do just that is Awesome.
I just built this for my son with a low profile 1650, upgraded ssd and ram to 32 gigs (was cheaper then buying 16) and installed a usb 3 pci express card works well no problems besides graphics drivers taking a while to update.
@@ryang7684 From what I know it should run a 75W Low Profile 1650 with no problem without upgrading the PSU. And since it's a low profile there's no extra cables necessary. It's just insert and go.

👍what do we have for today there almost looks like the same video card that I have, but not that slim though. 👍🤔like always another awesome video thanks for sharing.
Thank you for the parts list 🤑 I’m late to this whole scene, it’s actually my first time upgrading a machine. I bought $40 worth of pc stuff from some lady off 5mile lol. Got 5 old desktops, two monitors, 2 printers, and a keyboard and mouse. One of the desktops being this 8300 so ofc I gotta upgrade it, only problem is it’s locked with a system password on boot up and the date on it shows 1989 I’ve seen some simple fixes on TH-cam. I’m thinking before I buy parts I crack open the other towers for parts
Thank you! picked one up of these for a nas build and being able to fit in 3 HDD's (using a 5.25 to 3.5" by removing optical drive) is pretty good for SFF.
Very good video thanks! I found the blue hard drive mounting screws had been put in extremely tightly & I pretty much wrecked them taking them out! However, did not matter as I was only using a SSD & didn't need the screws. Your installation of the SSD and hard drive looks very tidy.
Thanks a lot! This video is very helpful, and it has a great effect in me: I will buy one of this SFF's for some 150€ :) , I want to mess around upgrading it, but I was in doubt on how "ungentle" you could be without breaking the machine. I am a programmer, and I am always afraid to break my computers if I open them. But when I take them to the shop for the "hw experts" to do what I need, I keep thinking, man, to do it so roughly I would do it myself... And I will just start doing it. Thank you. Great, very complete, and very informative video.
that is one funky looking propriety power supply! i have a dell 9020 sff and it has another weird looking one with an 8pin mb connector.. though if people want to swap the internals to a full sized case, there Are adapter connectors to allow 24pin to 8 pin
Thank you so much for this video, very informative. With this i can make a decent gaming pc for a low budget. The only thing i wonder is if a gtx 1650 low profile would be compatible with this pc.
How would connect the 3.5 drive as by my reckoning you have used all the SATA ports on the motherboard with the 2 2.5 drives and the optical? Would you/ can you use the esata port? Thanks
So do you just plug in the GPU and it's good to go? I have good RAM and plenty of memory (2tb). I was told you had to run a cable from the GPU into a power source?
Well depends right? for this pc in this video all he did was clip it on. if you want to use it (the gpu) you gotta boot up the pc and download the driver
I upgraded with the graphics card installed in the video and ran into a hitch... wondering if upgrading or replacing the 240w power supply will fix it... The problem is the screen goes black sometimes. No rhyme to it. Sporadic. Only goes black for a loooong second, but anything is too long when gaming. Do I need to test the power supply that came with it? I know the above setup is pushing it on the board. And I can't find any power supply to replace this hokey design of the PSU it came with to get more watts. I got a replacement low-profile card and that didn't fix it.
casteg52 I have the 1050 oc card with this build, and the cards have near identical power usage so either you have a faulty GPU, faulty PSU or maybe you need to update your drivers?
I’m having the same issue. The screen blacks out every now and then. Lately the computer has bees going into power save mode and completely going to sleep and I am unable to wake it up without having to reset it. Were you able to fix your issue?
maybe you have faulty drivers,PSU or g. card try changing power mode to high performance and set turn off the display after: never and go to advanced plan settings and set pci express link state power management to off
What do you recommend for smoother stream? I add more Rams. Im not too concern high quality but just a smoother stream. I’m trying to stream ps4/ps5 on twitch/TH-cam. Thanks.
I know this vídeo as some time but i need help with a small detail. I have this on SFF and i just installed an SSD. On doing so i saw that you have 4 sockets to power the discs: Dark blue Light blue White Black So for what i saw from my computer, the DVD reader os on the dark blue, the SSD on the light blue and the HDD on the white sockets. Does the sockets have influence on the speed of the reading/writing process? I don't use the DVD and want to migrate Windows to the SSD to make it faster.
Hi you should be able to find motherboard layout online. For my 8300, dark blue = o/s boot drive (ssd), light blue = 2nd hdd, white = optical. I believe the 2 blue ones are faster access speed. Black is for 2nd optical. As a side note, I had to enter bios and change the sata speed to highest value.
Hey man so I have a Gtx 1650 Inside this same system and it works perfectly!, currently I was just wondering as I'm currently stuck with a i3-3220 processor, would it be possible for me to upgrade to a i7-3770 or would it be bad for my power supply as I'm limited to 240w. Any help would be appreciated :)
I love this video, and would like to install (1) high capacity Display/Gaming card, and (2) install SSD drive + regular hard drive on my on my compaq Elite 8300 slim desktop. Unfortunately, I can't find where to mount Display/Gaming card. (3) Are there two versions of this type of system? (4) I already had 4tb HDD mounted as drive-C, how can I add SSD drive? (5) I already use 16gb, Ram, Can the system support 16gb in two places (32gb)?
Hola como estas? tengo una HP compaq elite 8300, y tengo 3 discos duros ( quite el quemador para instalar uno mas) Pero tengo un cable corriente sata tipo ( Y ) Puedo conectar otro disco duro? mi ram es de 28gb
Why didnt you put up the parts you used? That would be helpfull to many of us. How does all this runs on that standard 240W power supply? Any issues with that?
Is it possible to use the MSI Geforce GTX 1050 ti single fan version for this system? Because in my country low profile 1050 ti are more expensive than their regular counterparts.
Bro another question if u don't mind. My old hp 8300 sff mobo went dead. That why I got lenovo m92p sff. My hdd 3.5 1tb is Windows 10 64 bit oem of hp 8300 and my works in D drive. So do I need to install Windows 10 using the Windows 7 key on the box? As I did for hp 8300 or will it work without any issue. I used oem key to upgrade my Windows using my email account?
I can't take off the side panel. When I pull the handle up it doesn't move and when I put it back down it makes a sound. Any help? . Edit: Also wondering if I install a GTX 1050 TI do I need to connect a 6 pin connecter? Also will there be enough power?
I recommend getting a low profile to avoid hassle of plugs and connectors since LP don't need ang external cable. Just connect into the motherboard and go. Any graphics card at or under 75W should work and there will be enough power.
My hp 8300 turns on but theres no display and both my keyboard and mouse are not working, i opened it and i saw a green light in the midle of the ram slots. What should i do?
Hey Mxkdi. Love your videos. Unlike most TH-camrs, You really have some good content. Respects! I have a question for you. How does the HP Elite 8300 compare to Lenovo thinkcentre m83? Assuming both have the same specs and price point, which one of the two do you think is better overall???
Hi, yes HP Elite 8300 is better i would go for i7 3770 with gtx 1050ti or 1650 low profile with low profile bracket and if you are buying small form factor you can install two 30mm/40mm fans on the back of hp for better air flow.
@@mxkdt thnx Mxkdi. But I got your late. Was lucky won eBay auction at a good price for Lenovo thinkcentre m83 i7. I know thinkcentre m83 CPUs are 1 yr newer (2013) than the hp 8300. Hello I just saw your video I have the same pc but has a i7 3770, the HDD of 466gb of the pc and SSD 224gb and 16gb DDR3 is it possible to put the gtx1650 or with the 240w power supply would not be possible?? I Hope that yo can see my coment.
Mxkdi thanks. Off topic. I updated my windows ten. For some reason all my data is lost some where on the drive. Every time I reboot everything is gone. I read to to restart 4x but that has done nothing. Do you know of a way of fixing this. Thank agin

Good video. my computers hard drive recently broke on me. I have yet to fix it but it's nice to know all my options (pinned comment)
Question: The PSU in this unit is 240W, does it support all this new stuff?
I was wondering that too
Thanks! My dad brought this pc home from work and now i can game on it! Although, can the 1650 low profile be used with the sock PSU?
Should be fine if it's 75W
Hi so I have a HP compaq 8200 Elite small form factor. Would all of the things you used in the video work with it?
for pubg, fortnite n maybe later batman series.
which gpu should i install to play in atleast in medium. cheaper one.
Thanks for this video👍 I have this machine as my main pc and I could upgrade it👍
Hi.
@@mxkdt hi
thanks man this video was very helpful
Hi, thanks..
Some (most) gpu require extra power that the pci port can't deliver. The one he installed doesn't.
Very good . Thanks. Doesn't it need a larger power supply to handle the extra video card?
No, that video card isn't very powerful. It doesn't even have a power socket.
I read the PCIE x16 slot on this motherboard only allows 25W, is that true?
@@yinyuetrifecta 75 watt
I appreciate your vid...very usefull indeed......what the name of the cable you get at 9'27 to connect your 2.5 HDD and ssd ? Thanks
Hi, that is a SATA Power Y Splitter Cable..

@@mxkdt Thanks!
Thanks.
Sir, Did u change ur power supply too? from Philippines
Can I do this same thing with the tower version
I have also wireles wifi adapter installed in the small slot beside the slot you have gpu in. If i install this gpu is wifi adapter be in the way?
Hey, nice video man but i have a question, can i do all you do in this video if my HP Elite 8300 Small Form Factor is an Intel Core i5-3470?
I know this vídeo as some time but i need help with a small detail.
I have this on SFF and i just installed an SSD. On doing so i saw that you have 4 sockets to power the discs:
Dark blue
Light blue
White
Black
So for what i saw from my computer, the DVD reader os on the dark blue, the SSD on the light blue and the HDD on the white sockets.
As a side note, I had to enter bios and change the sata speed to highest value.
dosent the gpu need a power cable ? or will the 240w psu in support it
The psu is 240 watts . How did you manage the graphics card?
The gpu doesn't have a pcie power port

Hi, yes i7 3770 will work
Can i remove the MO and put in other case ? My PC is an HP Elite 8300 i5 3470 and 8gb with an GT 710 2GB VRAM.
Doesn't the mobo have a m.2 ssd slot, and a sata slot? They would be faster than a ssd drive?

Hey man so I have a Gtx 1650 Inside this same system and it works perfectly!, currently I was just wondering as I'm currently stuck with a i3-3220 processor, would it be possible for me to upgrade to a i7-3770 or would it be bad for my power supply as I'm limited to 240w. Any help would be appreciated :)
it will work without replacing your power supply for the video card?
I love this video, and would like to install (1) high capacity Display/Gaming card, and (2) install SSD drive + regular hard drive on my on my compaq Elite 8300 slim desktop. Unfortunately, I can't find where to mount Display/Gaming card. (3) Are there two versions of this type of system? (4) I already had 4tb HDD mounted as drive-C, how can I add SSD drive? (5) I already use 16gb, Ram, Can the system support 16gb in two places (32gb)?
I bought the MSI GTX 1050ti Low Profile and it just about fits in the case perfectly for this PC. I can run any AAA game at 80 fps
Yes there is a smaller version called an ultra sff of that has no expansion slots to add a video card.

Sir can the Galax Geforce gtx 1050 oc LP fit in the hp elite 8300 sff?
Hi, will a MSI GEFORCE GTX 1050 2 GB Lp will be ok (75W) ?

search your spec sheet for ur model
Is it possible to use the MSI Geforce GTX 1050 ti single fan version for this system? Because in my country low profile 1050 ti are more expensive than their regular counterparts.
It has to be the low profile version
this how the HOWTO video should be done thanks
Hi..
Did you change anything in the bios? I just put a gt1030 in my pc and it won't boot. I think it is a bios problem. Wich bios version do you have ?
Bro another question if u don't mind.
My old hp 8300 sff mobo went dead. That why I got lenovo m92p sff.
My hdd 3.5 1tb is Windows 10 64 bit oem of hp 8300 and my works in D drive.
So do I need to install Windows 10 using the Windows 7 key on the box? As I did for hp 8300 or will it work without any issue.
I used oem key to upgrade my Windows using my email account?
Hello, I have a question:
When you put the low profile GTX 1650, you don't have to upgrade the power supply from 240 W to something higher?
No
Hi, no you do not have to upgrade power supply.
okay, thank you very much
hello sir i have hp prodesk 600 and my pc psu is 320w..can i install gtx 1650 super into it?..i see recommend psu for gtx 1650 super is 350w...

it would work but just very very slow

Wich intel CPU higher generation support i have the same tower with i5 3470
I can't take off the side panel.

Is the PCIE 16x slot limited to 25W or is it the full 75W?
It‘s full 75W and works with a 75W GTX 1650 too (best choice at the moment). But if u have the choice, buy the Tower Version (320W Power)
How the heck did the PSU work for all this stuff???
SSD drives and modern GPUs don't draw as much current as older devices.
