As far as I know there is not. However try using the shortcuts I mentioned in the video. Check first which one is the one you like the most and then every time you start the game just use the shortcut
In my Rift CV1, with Asynchronous Space Warp on, I got a weird rubberbanding effect in the game. Vehicle traffic would lurch forward repeatedly. With ASW off, everything is smooth.
Nice video. Everyone's set up, and eyes are different, but I did find that both resolution and anti aliasing did make a difference on my Rift S. I'm running an i7 7700k and 5700XToc, and find the best experience at 1080p with 1.2 supersampling, 300% scale, medium textures and ASW disabled (the ASW artifacts give me a headache). I just need to work on getting the social screen working... This isn't the most optimized VR experience, but it is very enjoyable. There is something so relaxing about this game, and VR makes it so much more immersive. I'd love to see it fully supported in the future.
i just started playing it in VR today, and it's mindblowing! My setup is not that good, but i can play it. Before buying Quest 2, i thought that, as soon as i get my G27 WHEEL, i would start driving even more carefully. Few months ago i got my G27. I wouldn't drive more carelessly than that, till today. When you're literally inside the cabin, it's so crazy, cause you can feel the truck much more. Now i don't have vision of everything at same time, so driving faster looks even more dangerous and challenging. There's no price that can buy that feeling of freedom and hapiness.
Recently bought a quest 2 and I'm surprised how many of my games have VR support, either in beta or as an option. Appreciate your easy explanation on how to set up. I have both ETS2 and ATS, so will try both.
Asynchronous space warp is basically renders the game with fps of half the refresh rate (so 45 when refresh rate is on 90hz) and it will try to figure out what would be the frame between the previous and the next frame (in theory what would be the frame if it would run with 1:1 refresh rate and fps) via an algorithm. And because of this, it causes ghosting.
How do you record your gameplay? Only way I can figure out (2 pc setup) is using oculus mirror and move the game window off the screen so I can still use the mouse. Any other ways? Especially the outside views
Just watched a stream by a guy that was sat in a truck cab playing and streaming. It looked real, like you could see the guy pdog on camera, he's using the wheel and gears, his interior looks real, like he's actually driving on screen but he has his windscreen and side windows as his TV screens. I dont know if he's using green screens, at one point he got out of the cab. It looks so real if I didn't know it was ETS I would have thought he was driving for real. How is this done?

I don’t use it because it reduces my computers performance for some reason. Can’t figure it out why. And yes it’s not necessary to use steam vr to start the game in vr. However you will have to start oculus app first before launching the game
Hi thank you for the quick answer i will experiment with it because i have lagg in town with an i7 8700K and GTX 1080 and it turns at 4K just like yours. I will have to experiment a lot to find the right settings. i will also try without Steam VR. Maybe it reduces my lagg as well 😃

You mean there is no image on your monitor ? If so, go to the same folder where oculus debug tool is that I mentioned in the video and start “oculus mirror”, that will solve the problem

I understand that your headset works in other games ? Just doesn’t work in ATS & ETS2 ? If yes then try to start the game using steam vr. I don’t personally like steam vr but it’s worth a try. Good luck
For Vive users to stop the rubber banding and stuttering fix your frame rate in steam vr and lock it then turn off motion smoothing . If you still see some stuttering then fix your frame rate to 45 FPS . This game is horrendous on CPU resources as it's not optimised for vr at all
This is by far the best video on setting things up for VR, but I'm still having issues. It seems like there has been a minor change since you posted this video. On the General page where you type -oculus in the launch options, my window also has a drop down menu where you apparently select how you want it to launch. It has: Ask when starting game, Play Euro/American Truck Simulator, Launch with DirectX11 (64-bit), Launch with OpenGL (64-bit), etc. I tried leaving it as Play Simulator, but when I launch the game it just plays in monitor mode, i.e. I'm connecting via Virtual Desktop and the game is playing on the virtual monitor in my virtual office. Not in true VR. Any suggestions? :/
I had the same problem. The solution to me was that instead of -oculus i typed -openvr in the steam game settings. I think with virtual desktop steam doesn't recognise the headset as an oculus(now meta) headset. I hope it helps.
I need help, in game all works fine, but on my monitor I see black screen. I streaming on Twitch, and I searching resolve this problem. I tried use a occulus mirorr on "1" but when I use this setting, I see double screen. Could you help me?
Yep, i had exactly the same problem. Go to OculuDebugTool file location as i mentioned in the video, in the same folder there should be a file called OculusMirror start it and set OBS or whatever youre using to record that window. In case that file isnt there make sure to update oculus software to the newest one because they only added that couple of months ago
@@explorationofgames Thanks for your comment, of course, I know the Oculus Mirror, but my problem was that I use two computers, one for gaming and streaming, so I couldn't capture the Oculus Mirror source on the latter. I dealt with this using the Desk Pins program, which sets the active window as the most important and then HDMI correctly captures what you see on your gaming computer. Besides, for it to work better, you have to set the ETS2 for VR to start in a window. Thank you for your video ;)
There is a setting in the config file oculus mirror it will be set to 0 make sure it's 1 and your black screen will no longer be there oculus mirror is used for games that show both be lenses on screen and not them both together hope this helps
Mine looks like I'm driving in thick fog, if i look in the mirrors they look good but looking out the front window it looks like a haze very foggy, same setting on the monitor, and it's fine.

Hello, I been tweaking with euro truck simulator 2 game for long time to get smooth and stable frame rate so I can stream with no lag on my OBS.I can say that this Asynchronous spacewarp set to force 45 FPS enabled makes my game just perfect in framerate and lag spike + now I may tweak even more Pixels per display to increase more better look for my game, any way this for euro truck is a mast setting to set up. Need do test how with this setting my game runs in some other city because I have seen my gpu just hit 100% usage and this issue made my game stream buffer because I lose frames.
I'm using Oculus Quest 2 for my headset and my PC is at 16gb Ram, Ryzen 5600G with RTX 3060 Ti. Now what I don't understand is I'm playing ETS on PC everything looks fine and sharp on 1080p monitor. But when I play it on VR all distance object looks blurry... The only thing that looks sharp is the Steering wheel. Even my Dashboard looks kind of blurry... the further the object is from the camera the worsen it gets. But this is not only on ETS2 but all games in VR. I already check and tried everything i can find on internet such as setup my IPD get higher image sampling, turn of DOF none of them work.... so my question is, is this happen to all of you guys ? is this is just how VR is, or do I need to check my eyes. I use glasses for reading but i have no problem seeing far. I also tried using my reading glasses when using my VR, is not helping and actually make it even worse. As you know Quest 2 have higher resolution per eye than my 1080p monitor, So why distance object it looks blurry in VR and not on my monitor ? I also notice if I move my head closer to object the image looks sharper, Is there is some kind of DOF system that build inside VR headset that i need to disable ?
Same problem here, it looks rubbish with the Quest 2 no matter what I play and that's with a 3090 and 10900K. I suspect it is due to the compression with the link connection between the PC and headset, be it airlink or link with cable, it is still compressed and crappy looking (I have tried both the link cable and airlink). I have never tried a headset with a display port. I would love to try the G2 just to see the difference in clarity for myself.
Just purchased a Rift S waiting for it to arrive so I thought I would see what steps are required... Wow lot's of messing about you would have thought by now VR would be as simple as everything else plug it in and play change settings in game switch between monitor or headset etc lol
Congrats, enjoy it :) and yes there is some messing with the settings but mainly because ATS & ETS2 never officially supported VR unlike some newer games where the whole process is much easier

I have a problem, when I go in Steam's ETS2 properties, first, it opens a different looking page (probably beacause of the latest update), second, when I go into "BETAS" I don't have "Oculus/Vive" I only have "oculus - Oculus+OpenVR - 1.40 - (SDK 1.4.0)" ; "oculus_07 - Version using 0.7.0 SDK - 1.22" and "oculus_previous - Oculus+OpenVR - 1.39 (SDK 1.4.0)"
Yes they changed it with the updated and they also changed the names of betas, so now you go for oculus/open vr with the highest number, which in this case is the first option you mentioned. Hope that helps
Do you mean that you always have to replace the entire CFG file in its entirety in the ETS2 folder if you want to switch from monitor to Vr and vice versa? And thanks for your help😃
Yes. Which is why I recommend to have two folders ( vr and not vr ) and just copy and paste them depending how you wanna play the game ( vr or monitor mode ) it’s still quicker then changing in game settings every time you want to switch. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
So what settings do you change in the config file if you have to change them? Because if you don't change them there is no need to keep swapping config files the game automatically changes the settings for you. Was a good video but you can run 90fps solid all you need to do is turn mirror Res and distance down to low it's amazing how much your mirrors will tax the GPU. Also set your output to 1920x1080 it makes a little difference.
@@MRDEEGAMING Non you change the settings in ets2 itself and the changes are applied in your config files. and if your pc is set to 4k you can not just change the resolution to 1920X1080 there the game is absolutely not better on the contrary even
@@jentjedragonfly trust me I've just been through this if your running standard settings you don't need to change anything or swap config files as it changes when you change the settings in game however if your running a different mulitimon setting then yeah swap configs. And as for the 1980x1080 all that dose is change the output on your monitor it dose nothing in your vr. I've spent the last week playing with settings. I normally run the jbx graphics so have to change a bunch of config settings and then when 1.40 beta come out and I tried it all my config settings for jbx and been set back to standard. Therefore if your running standard settings you don't need to change configs for running vr or on your monitor. Open oculus mirror and drop the screen size right down you will see it changes on there so if your not streaming running the lowest Res helps with performance. Just like mirrors in be dropping them down to low makes a hell of a difference I've managed to get 90fps solid everywhere I go running 160 mods with traffic.. lighting.. trucks.. trailer's.. skins ect all by playing with the settings in the config. I'm goin to be making a video soon showing my findings and showing my set-up may take a few weeks to get it done but it will be out soon
It’s true if you’re using standard settings you don’t need to change anything. However if you’re playing on different graphical settings like the AA or amount of detail or mirrors or resolution (4K for example) then it’s just easier to swap confit files rather than changing in game settings every time manually
I don’t mention it in the video because I didn’t want to make it too complicated. But try putting scaling to 100% and then start Oculus Debug Tool and play around with the first option “Pixels per display picture override”. I suggest starting with the value of 1.6 or 1.8 and keep an eye on your FPSs. It should make the game look better however it does consume a lot of your PC resources
I have almost the exact same setup as you and it runs amazing for me on high settings. I've got a Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB DDR4 at 3200 and a GTX 1080. But I'm also playing with a Samsung Odyssey, so it may be an issue with the Quest 2.
I followed everything for the Oculus Rift S but for whatever reason in the VR when I move my head the camera does not move at all like it does for you... Is there anyway to fix this? When I love the headset and look on the monitor the camera is moving but not in the headset itself.
Try starting the oculus software first ( the one that sells oculus games ). Put your headset on and make sure it works-you should see oculus program menu and you should be able to look around there. Don’t close that program and just start ETS2 or ATS. It should switch the view in the headset to game and hopefully it will work. Also try pressing F11 while in game it supposed to switch the view to monitor mode but sometimes it glitched for me. One more thing I can think of is if you’re using rift s you need to make sure you have enough light in the room otherwise the sensors on your headset do not pick up your head movement
@@explorationofgames I tried all of that and it still will not track for me in game. But the moment I move my headset off it is tracking it on the monitor... and the monitor is showing the picture in split screen.
Ok one last thing I can think of. Uninstall the game. Go to your documents and change the name of ATS folder to anything else ( that way you’ll keep the copy of your profiles and settings in case you need them ) and reinstall the game which should get rid of all your settings even the ones not visible in the in game menu and it should create new ATS folder in your documents folder. Then follow the steps in the video and if that won’t help then I have really no idea what could be wrong
@@8672Danny Well for me it does and doesn't work. The head tracking is beyond f'd for me, look left and in game it goes right, look right and it still looks right. Look up and it looks down etc. Trying to play ats with this is far more of a headache than I was expecting Edit-- I figured out the headtracking issue
@neguritab Do you feel like you're in Fullscreen, (all you can see is the game)or is the game running in a kind of windowed mode in a room? If I could take a picture of the shit I would, but it's one of the main reasons I can't play this with vr right now. It makes my head hurt when looking around because of the white background in the room
What exactly did you change in the config files, you never mentioned on this in the video? At least if you're gonna do a tutorial on how to do it, at least put every single detail in the video. People won't know what to change in the config files if you don't tell us.
You misunderstood that. Whenever you play on the monitor and have all your settings for the monitor the game creates that confit file for you all you gotta do is copy it somewhere else. Then if you set your game to play in vr the game overwrites that config file with your “new” vr settings. So instead of going into the game and manually change everything back to monitor mode you can just use that copy you made earlier and overwrite vr settings config file. Don’t forget to make a separate copy of your config file whenever you setup the game for vr. Once you have both config files copies you can just use monitor mode or vr mode whenever you want but just copying the preferred config file into the game. That saves you changing it everyone manually in the game. You don’t edit anything in the config file yourself. Hope that helps
@@explorationofgames Yeah, so sorry about that before, i been looking forever on how to use the Meta Quest 2 on ETS2, i just got the headset recently so am still trying to learn how to use it. Took me quite a while to get around it, but i finally got it to work now that i understand how it works. I definately need to make a copy of the config files for both vanila & for VR. Thanks again for the helpful tips. Also if i play ETS2 with some light mods, would the beta Oculus vr be affected because of the light mods, i usually only use maybe 1-4 different light mods.
Yes I use it for mod compatibility whenever new update comes out however as far as I know it only allows one patch back, so let’s say most up to date is 1.40 you can only download on steam 1.40 or 1.39 for vr. You just need to scroll down in “betas” menu to find the previous version

No I meant if it was possible to use the newest version on VRC instead of an older version because I have mods that support only 1.39.1.5 but VR only supports version 1.39.0.1003 or something like that. It’s fine I’ll just wait to see if VR gets updated to the version of my mods.
Try pressing F11 on the keyboard. I didn’t mentioned that in the video because I didn’t want to make it confusing but F11 allows you to switch menu between VR and the monitor

Doesn't work anymore, i have done all the steps in steam but when i launch ATS i just get a screen inside my headset.

Never had a chance to try out other headsets but as far as I know it’s not case sensitive. At least I used launch options in other game and it wasn’t

Is there away to sharpen it. It’s blurry but it’s the only game I have like that I got my iPd right and my lens clean
You can try changing the oversampling in that debug tool I m egg mention in the video but other than that I’m not sure what you can do. I’m sorry 🤷♂️

It has: Ask when starting game, Play Euro/American Truck Simulator, Launch with DirectX11 (64-bit), Launch with OpenGL (64-bit), etc. I tried leaving it as Play Simulator, but when I launch the game it just plays in monitor mode, i.e. I'm connecting via Virtual Desktop and the game is playing on the virtual monitor in my virtual office. Not in true VR. Any suggestions? :/

I had the same problem.
The solution to me was that instead of -oculus i typed -openvr in the steam game settings.
I think with virtual desktop steam doesn't recognise the headset as an oculus(now meta) headset.

Yep, i had exactly the same problem. Go to OculuDebugTool file location as i mentioned in the video, in the same folder there should be a file called OculusMirror start it and set OBS or whatever youre using to record that window. In case that file isnt there make sure to update oculus software to the newest one because they only added that couple of months ago
@@explorationofgames Thanks for your comment, of course, I know the Oculus Mirror, but my problem was that I use two computers, one for gaming and streaming, so I couldn't capture the Oculus Mirror source on the latter. I dealt with this using the Desk Pins program, which sets the active window as the most important and then HDMI correctly captures what you see on your gaming computer. Besides, for it to work better, you have to set the ETS2 for VR to start in a window. Thank you for your video ;)

There is a setting in the config file oculus mirror it will be set to 0 make sure it's 1 and your black screen will no longer be there oculus mirror is used for games that show both be lenses on screen and not them both together hope this helps

Mine looks like I'm driving in thick fog, if i look in the mirrors they look good but looking out the front window it looks like a haze very foggy, same setting on the monitor, and it's fine.

Hello, I been tweaking with euro truck simulator 2 game for long time to get smooth and stable frame rate so I can stream with no lag on my OBS.I can say that this Asynchronous spacewarp set to force 45 FPS enabled makes my game just perfect in framerate and lag spike + now I may tweak even more Pixels per display to increase more better look for my game, any way this for euro truck is a mast setting to set up. Need do test how with this setting my game runs in some other city because I have seen my gpu just hit 100% usage and this issue made my game stream buffer because I lose frames.
I'm using Oculus Quest 2 for my headset and my PC is at 16gb Ram, Ryzen 5600G with RTX 3060 Ti. Now what I don't understand is I'm playing ETS on PC everything looks fine and sharp on 1080p monitor. But when I play it on VR all distance object looks blurry... The only thing that looks sharp is the Steering wheel. Even my Dashboard looks kind of blurry... the further the object is from the camera the worsen it gets. But this is not only on ETS2 but all games in VR. I already check and tried everything i can find on internet such as setup my IPD get higher image sampling, turn of DOF none of them work.... so my question is, is this happen to all of you guys ? is this is just how VR is, or do I need to check my eyes. I use glasses for reading but i have no problem seeing far. I also tried using my reading glasses when using my VR, is not helping and actually make it even worse.
As you know Quest 2 have higher resolution per eye than my 1080p monitor, So why distance object it looks blurry in VR and not on my monitor ? I also notice if I move my head closer to object the image looks sharper, Is there is some kind of DOF system that build inside VR headset that i need to disable ?

Same problem here, it looks rubbish with the Quest 2 no matter what I play and that's with a 3090 and 10900K. I suspect it is due to the compression with the link connection between the PC and headset, be it airlink or link with cable, it is still compressed and crappy looking (I have tried both the link cable and airlink). I have never tried a headset with a display port. I would love to try the G2 just to see the difference in clarity for myself.
Just purchased a Rift S waiting for it to arrive so I thought I would see what steps are required... Wow lot's of messing about you would have thought by now VR would be as simple as everything else plug it in and play change settings in game switch between monitor or headset etc lol
Congrats, enjoy it :) and yes there is some messing with the settings but mainly because ATS & ETS2 never officially supported VR unlike some newer games where the whole process is much easier

I have a problem, when I go in Steam's ETS2 properties, first, it opens a different looking page (probably beacause of the latest update), second, when I go into "BETAS" I don't have "Oculus/Vive" I only have "oculus - Oculus+OpenVR - 1.40 - (SDK 1.4.0)" ; "oculus_07 - Version using 0.7.0 SDK - 1.22" and "oculus_previous - Oculus+OpenVR - 1.39 (SDK 1.4.0)"
Yes they changed it with the updated and they also changed the names of betas, so now you go for oculus/open vr with the highest number, which in this case is the first option you mentioned. Hope that helps

Yes. Which is why I recommend to have two folders ( vr and not vr ) and just copy and paste them depending how you wanna play the game ( vr or monitor mode ) it’s still quicker then changing in game settings every time you want to switch. Glad you enjoyed the video :)
So what settings do you change in the config file if you have to change them? Because if you don't change them there is no need to keep swapping config files the game automatically changes the settings for you. Was a good video but you can run 90fps solid all you need to do is turn mirror Res and distance down to low it's amazing how much your mirrors will tax the GPU. Also set your output to 1920x1080 it makes a little difference.
@@MRDEEGAMING Non you change the settings in ets2 itself and the changes are applied in your config files. and if your pc is set to 4k you can not just change the resolution to 1920X1080 there the game is absolutely not better on the contrary even
@@jentjedragonfly trust me I've just been through this if your running standard settings you don't need to change anything or swap config files as it changes when you change the settings in game however if your running a different mulitimon setting then yeah swap configs. And as for the 1980x1080 all that dose is change the output on your monitor it dose nothing in your vr. I've spent the last week playing with settings. I normally run the jbx graphics so have to change a bunch of config settings and then when 1.40 beta come out and I tried it all my config settings for jbx and been set back to standard. Therefore if your running standard settings you don't need to change configs for running vr or on your monitor. Open oculus mirror and drop the screen size right down you will see it changes on there so if your not streaming running the lowest Res helps with performance. Just like mirrors in be dropping them down to low makes a hell of a difference I've managed to get 90fps solid everywhere I go running 160 mods with traffic.. lighting.. trucks.. trailer's.. skins ect all by playing with the settings in the config. I'm goin to be making a video soon showing my findings and showing my set-up may take a few weeks to get it done but it will be out soon
It’s true if you’re using standard settings you don’t need to change anything. However if you’re playing on different graphical settings like the AA or amount of detail or mirrors or resolution (4K for example) then it’s just easier to swap confit files rather than changing in game settings every time manually

I've got a Ryzen 5 2600 16GB DDR 4-3200 and RTX 2070 and almost nothing I do makes it run well without it looking like crap. Quest 2.
I don’t mention it in the video because I didn’t want to make it too complicated. But try putting scaling to 100% and then start Oculus Debug Tool and play around with the first option “Pixels per display picture override”. I suggest starting with the value of 1.6 or 1.8 and keep an eye on your FPSs. It should make the game look better however it does consume a lot of your PC resources

I have almost the exact same setup as you and it runs amazing for me on high settings. I've got a Ryzen 5 2600, 16GB DDR4 at 3200 and a GTX 1080. But I'm also playing with a Samsung Odyssey, so it may be an issue with the Quest 2.
I followed everything for the Oculus Rift S but for whatever reason in the VR when I move my head the camera does not move at all like it does for you... Is there anyway to fix this? When I love the headset and look on the monitor the camera is moving but not in the headset itself.
Try starting the oculus software first ( the one that sells oculus games ). Put your headset on and make sure it works-you should see oculus program menu and you should be able to look around there. Don’t close that program and just start ETS2 or ATS. It should switch the view in the headset to game and hopefully it will work. Also try pressing F11 while in game it supposed to switch the view to monitor mode but sometimes it glitched for me. One more thing I can think of is if you’re using rift s you need to make sure you have enough light in the room otherwise the sensors on your headset do not pick up your head movement
@@explorationofgames I tried all of that and it still will not track for me in game. But the moment I move my headset off it is tracking it on the monitor... and the monitor is showing the picture in split screen.

Yes sir, it works just fine in elite dangerous, and beat saber. I even tried making a new profile on ATS and it didn’t work.
Ok one last thing I can think of. Uninstall the game. Go to your documents and change the name of ATS folder to anything else ( that way you’ll keep the copy of your profiles and settings in case you need them ) and reinstall the game which should get rid of all your settings even the ones not visible in the in game menu and it should create new ATS folder in your documents folder. Then follow the steps in the video and if that won’t help then I have really no idea what could be wrong

@@8672Danny Well for me it does and doesn't work. The head tracking is beyond f'd for me, look left and in game it goes right, look right and it still looks right. Look up and it looks down etc. Trying to play ats with this is far more of a headache than I was expecting

If I could take a picture of the shit I would, but it's one of the main reasons I can't play this with vr right now. What exactly did you change in the config files, you never mentioned on this in the video? At least if you're gonna do a tutorial on how to do it, at least put every single detail in the video. People won't know what to change in the config files if you don't tell us.
You misunderstood that. Whenever you play on the monitor and have all your settings for the monitor the game creates that confit file for you all you gotta do is copy it somewhere else. Then if you set your game to play in vr the game overwrites that config file with your “new” vr settings. So instead of going into the game and manually change everything back to monitor mode you can just use that copy you made earlier and overwrite vr settings config file. Don’t forget to make a separate copy of your config file whenever you setup the game for vr. Once you have both config files copies you can just use monitor mode or vr mode whenever you want but just copying the preferred config file into the game. That saves you changing it everyone manually in the game. You don’t edit anything in the config file yourself. Hope that helps

Yeah, so sorry about that before, i been looking forever on how to use the Meta Quest 2 on ETS2, i just got the headset recently so am still trying to learn how to use it. Took me quite a while to get around it, but i finally got it to work now that i understand how it works. I definately need to make a copy of the config files for both vanila & for VR. Also if i play ETS2 with some light mods, would the beta Oculus vr be affected because of the light mods, i usually only use maybe 1-4 different light mods.

Yes I use it for mod compatibility whenever new update comes out however as far as I know it only allows one patch back, so let’s say most up to date is 1.40 you can only download on steam 1.40 or 1.39 for vr. You just need to scroll down in “betas” menu to find the previous version
