Hey, I am starting IB in 3 days and my subjects are Math hl, econ hl, bs hl, eng SL, ess and Spanish ab initio. We take very similar subjects and I wanted to ask you about HL English. Is it manageable? Would you have done HL math instead? I am not great at math (in my GCSEs, I got an A), and I have to decide between hl eng or hl math. I was wondering if you had any thoughts regarding this. Hope you hear from you soon! :)
hii there!! first of all good luck on starting your IB journey hehe, you got thiss! 1. I initially thought HL English was not manageable as I was an average-a bit above average English student in class but throughout I realized how manageable it is as long as you try as much as you can to be interested in the material + spend time preparing reading notes before classes :) 2. I'm not great at math either! Therefore I didn't even consider HL math hehe, seeing my smart Math friends struggling with HL questions was also quite daunting hahah BUT, in my opinion, Math is a subject you can improve drastically over-time depending on your circumstances whereas English takes a longer time to drastically improve in! In my opinion, you should pick the subject that you have more potential to enjoy! It's quite hard to explain in a few words but I hope my 'all about my IB experience' video that i just uploaded (th-cam.com/video/oCendEZaE8A/w-d-xo.html) will help!! sorry for the late reply and all the best :))!
@@rachwaddles Heyy! Thank you sm for your reply. Just finished my first day of the IBDP program and already filled with hw lmao. I personally enjoy math more, but I am not that great at it. However, I DISPISE english literature lol. So I guess I am left with no choice other than taking math hl and see what the future holds for me! Wish me luck I guess 😂 Thanks again!
Hi Peyton! I think something that deffo helped me was looking up similar research papers / articles and collecting interesting findings from them in a word doc! Also, try and divide your ee into parts early on, so you can really dive deep into specific topics (theories / frameworks / real life applications) for research. Hope this helps! Gluck with ur ee :))
Hey as a fellow IB student i hoped you cod give me some advice. I got 36 points and i am thinking of redoing slme exams do you think it is wort it in terms of the points might be crucial to get into a better school. Btw odg great job you did so well i cant believe. 🤗
Hii! I think instead of redoing the exams it would be better to send them for re-marking. It’s a bit risky because you might be graded up or down but try and ask your teachers for advice on which subjects to send in! Usually the grades closest to the grade boundary :) Its always better to get higher but I don’t believe it’s always necessary. It depends on where you’re going... eg- in UK there are set grades they want. Hope this helps and thank you! 😊

Hey i'm doing a world studies EE in the same strand as you, and I was wondering if you had any tips for research?
