U. S. 20, the North Cascades Highway, is a spectacular drive! The lakes there are so vivid and green from the glacial flour particulates suspended in the water. I have never seen water that color anywhere. And yes, being glacial meltwater, it is VERY COLD! I have not been there in many years, and the Washington Pass overlook (Liberty Bell in the video) is one of my favorite spots in the park. Regarding not making it to the ghost town, discretion, instinct and intuition are meant to be followed. There is no harm or shame in turning back. I have done that myself several times before. Being safe includes being wise. As you continue traveling, your skills and confidence will grow.
Love your videos. Being from the PNW, I love seeing the places you go that I've never been. Sorry for your loss. It definitely is a great part of your videos.
Great stuff my friend!! Keep it up!! You made the adult decision about the ghost town. I look at it like this, if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. :)
As far as LNT goes, you don't want to use soap, even biodegradable stuff in creeks and rivers. Sea to Summit and probably some other folks have collapsable bins to collect water for washing clothes. Then disposing of the soapy water at least 200 feet from the river/creek/lake.
Good days, bad days ... but you're out there adventuring! You trusted your gut, as you always should. You may come back later and make it to the ghost town. Thank you for sharing Sydnie.
Great filming and editing ❤ Awesome beautiful area you are very entertaining and a great story teller. ❤ Something to keep your car cooler ceramic tint it will block the hot sun your car wont heat up from the sun❤ 😎 Are you a mushroom lady find a group or guide to take you mushroom hunting and make some bomb mushroom dishes❤
The ending was pretty hilarious. I'm in a sour mood, we're not going to the ghost town, and you can look it up yourself. I wonder if you could use your drone as a tool to scout ahead on those FSR's & see if the road is suitable for your vehicle? You really are rolling the dice on those roads... might lead to the most epic camping spot ever, could also lead to you getting stuck and a very expensive recovery. Your Volvo has done a great job so far!
But, if you feel in your gut that you shouldn’t go somewhere, then you should go somewhere else. Glad you listened to your intuition and not some of these other folks that advise you to do things that you don’t feel right doing.
some of the bent trees in the n.w. point to freshwater springs it's a very old way to mark the trail but those trees you pointed out were bent from the snow
Not to be too personal , but good grief girl , there are lots of trees you can pee behind… just walk a bit off the trail and take care of business. Anyway what a beautiful place.. I e spent a lot of time up there.
A lot of people are aware of Mt. Rainier and Olympic National Parks. But not as many are aware of this gem North Cascades National Park. Your excellent video shows the beauty of this great park. If I'm not mistaken, there is no car fee for entering. And I believe you can actually enter the park from Canada without a Passport. There is a campground but the dirt road from the Canadian side ends at Ross Lake. To be honest, it's been a long time since I was there and things may have changed. Just a note of trivia, for what it's worth. It's not recommended to add any soap, even biodegradable soap to any stream, river or lake. Even biodegradable soap can affect lake chemistry. The recommendation is to bucket your water from the stream, river or lake that you intend to use, to a spot at least 100 feet away and wash your clothes, utensils, etc. Then take your dirty water and rinse water and pour it in a hole you've made 6 inches deep. Then cover it up. I know that seems overkill in a not so widely traveled park like North Cascades but it's the rule of thumb pretty much everywhere. And in some of the more heavily used parks, it's critical. Continued safe travels.
You love tacos! Go south on a river in spring. Put your car in a storage in maybe Brownsville texas and kayak the whole Rio grande from Colorado to your car. A kayak roof rack. That kayak trip would be epic. Maybe may or April. Ride the snow melt to tacos and beer and the gulf of Mexico thru Big bend national park! I would love to see that. You ever watch traveling Robert or similar channels? A mounted car cam is a great view. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Harts Pass road is one brutal ride. It's too bad you did not go all the way up, the views are spectacular. Harts Pass is also an intersection for the PCT and the PNT long trails. Oh and be careful flying your drone in the National Parks, it is illegal and the fines are pretty hefty. The lower elevations in Eastern Washington are rattlesnake country as well. Great videos, I enjoy watching them.
I was happy to see so many people go up there. Seemed pretty traffic for a terrifying road. Next time perhaps I'll have the courage to go up there or find a buddy.
"The time has come," the Walrus said, "To talk of many things: Of shoes-and ships-and sealing-wax- Of cabbages-and kings- And why the sea is boiling hot- And whether pigs have wings."
The North Cascades National Park consists of a northern and a southern district or unit. These are separated by Ross Lake National Recreation Area. The southeast boundary of the southern district abuts Lake Chelan National Recreation Area; the park and two recreation areas are managed as the North Cascades National Park Complex. The main road that you drove on, which is State Route 20 (North Cascades Highway), is within the Ross Lake NRA, along with the lakes that you looked at.
Yes! I am from Virginia so I get mind blown pretty much every day by the beauty. Don't get my wrong, Virginia (especially SW Virginia) is gorgeous too, but it is just a different, breathtaking beauty out here.
With videos like these, how far you are in your adventure vs when you post stuff due to editing? In a way, it is like time traveling because we think we are looking at your present but in reality, we are looking at your past. If you did lose your drone, I hope it isn't too much to replace. I've wondered how you were able to control it while driving. As for the water temperature, remember that most of the water is snow melt so if lucky 45 degrees F. Typical standing water is around twenty degrees cooler than air temp and I suspect moving water is even cooler because the water doesn't get a chance to absorb any sunlight due to being in constant motion.
Sorry you didn't make it.. Get an in reach if you plan to go places remote and alone. You missed out on a hot spring at Baker Lake, I made a video of the spring last year.
@@sydniestateofmind Yes I saw that on a previous video. I had to get one to take on my solo dual sport rides. I think with just a couple inexpensive mods your vehicle would do fine, but realize that a vehicle is tougher to turn around by yourself than a motorcycle is. I will have to look into a ride up into that area with our group.
Please educate yourself, read the leave no trace principals on the National Park Service website. Even biodegradable soaps and cleansers shouldn’t be used in a natural water source. All soap, whether biodegradable or not, affects water chemistry in a detrimental fashion. It can also have a negative impact on fish and other aquatic organisms.
It was her drone. She put a screenshot of the flight control app just after she said she lost something. Key word "thing" that she uses almost every day. Hope you find it, Syd!
I just came across her videos . It would be nice if she kept a firearm for protection. There is something I like about her. I think she reminds me of a old friend.

Rockin' out to the Stones. You're figuring out this whole solo travel thing pretty well. Safe travels, Sydnie. And greetings from Wy.
Looks like a beautiful place! Can’t wait til I can explore more of the PNW
Yes!! Washington is so diverse
Thank you for capturing the beautiful scenery...

Thanks for the water tip! And yeah North Cascades is so underrated. And you don't have to pay and you can see a lot just by driving.

aww i wish i new you and you was going to be in my neck of the woods i could have taken ya up to go see some bears hello from rockport wa
Washington has amazing landscapes as you know.
When you get in the vicinity of Glendive MT. go see Makoshika State Part.
Ooo thanks for the recommendation! If I'm in the area I will see if I can stop by

It depends, but lately I've only been a week ahead. I've been playing catchup since my cruise in June. Before that I had 2-3 weeks worth of vids done.
So give us a back story about your love for tacos? i mean i love tacos also, lol Thanks for Sharing...
They're easy and yummy and feed me for days
You'll be back.
She was in a bad mood, can tell off her face. Wonder what she lost? And hope u feel better soon.❤
What did you lose?
I really want to go out and discover like you. See this beautiful country. Pray to God he will help me.
which editing software you use?
Filmora. I used to use Adobe Premier Pro but it got soooo expensive. Filmora is like $80 for lifetime and it has all I need and then some.
I like the effort tho

Sounds like she got bad news about a loved one.. family friend pet..?
Yeah I’m confused.. I’m guessing maybe she lost her drone?
