Ah yes, Creeper Spleef, the game where you use a pickaxe to make orifices for creepers to fall through! For scoring it, I wonder if you could add a counter to the creepers that drop in (instead of a timer) so that you get a set amount of creepers per game. Hi Zedaph, instead of using Glowstone in your "Orifice" how about using the purple Frog Lights. It'll make your "Orifice" match your color so it's easier to figure out which "Orifice" is yours
Creeper Spleef Suggestions: (not all good, just ideas) - Rather than dropping them down one hole, let the water stream end inside a room with multiple trap-door holes. They can just be left open and have creepers fall at random, or possibly triggered via Sculk Sensors to open when a player walks nearby. - Blast Protection Armor, so blowing up a creeper can be a feature rather than causing death. - Feed maybe half of the gunpowder gained from playing the game into an Auto-Crafter making TNT, which loads dispensers in the ceiling (so they're out of blast range). This is fabulous, you could add glowstone blocks at the bottom of your orifice, but that would mean removing more bedrock blocks. Yup a timer that goes ding after a set time, that also switches the flow of water to stop more creepers coming through.
I feel like Zed's probably not gonna wanna spend another week's worth of effort to break even more bedrock around the orifice haha, but if so, Froglights would be even better than Glowstone! Their texture 'looks' much brighter, being mostly white, so it'd pop against the bedrock
Would be fun to have some sort of timer that can “dispense” creepers at a specific rate, so it can send more at once over time, making it a kind of Tetris/whack a mile style game!
If it's possible to add multiple holes for the creepers to fall out of, that would increase the difficulty and lead to creepers appearing behind as you play
A 2 player versus mode would play out very interestingly. You wouldn’t only have to spleef the creepers; you’d have the other player to worry about as well! Last to die wins!
I definitely see potential for this being a multiplayer game. Imagine if in order to spleef your opponent you had to knock creepers at them so they explode (NO PICKS ALOUD). You would have blast protection on so you don’t die from any explosions, and a knock back sword to knock the creepers into your opponent. Oh, and a flint and steel of course. I think for this to work the creepers would need to drop randomly throughout the arena, so as long as that isn’t too hard, this could be a cool idea.
I think if you open more port holes for the creepers to descend from so it’s randomized and increase creeper production it will make for more excitement as a creeper could fall on you from behind while you are training the others around the arena.
I have a feeling once you get the cats in, you are going to get more creepers than you can handle. You should put a redstone controlled light on each spawning platform to control how many creepers can spawn to make a "difficulty" setting for players.
So for your "Creefer" farm(Creeper and spleef combined) It'd be kinda cool to have it so that when you press the button to start the game, it sets a 5 minute timer and opens the drop chute in the arena automatically for those 5 minutes.
For the timer you could, if you liked the idea, hook up a clock that puts out an increasing redstone signal, which progressively lights up the 2-block high wall above the obsidian barrier. The time is up when the room is lit up all around the 4 walls and back to the first light bulbs. Maybe a sound could trigger when that happens! ^^
(for more of an explanation, minecart locations on a server are calculated more accurately than player locations so having a minecart bounce back and forth would work with or without server lag)
I get that you made this farm for getting cobble specifically, but regular stone is a bit faster to mine, which could help the game. You could always provide a non-silk pick for this game if regular stone works out better.
This is an incredibly fun idea. From a game design perspective, I think it would be improved by having separate sides for basalt and cobble like opposing sides of a playing field. The way you can make this work is by figuring out what combinations of pickaxe materials and efficiency levels make two different pickaxes mine the two blocks at roughly the same speed. The basalt breaks easier, so the basalt zone gets an Iron pick with Efficiency 4 instead of Diamond with Efficiency 5 (or whatever ends up being the closest combo). Have the creeper feed split so half fall on each side and put a line of Obsidian at eye level separating and preventing the players and creepers from crossing into the other zone. Have the water at the bottom push the drops to each end instead of the center so the 2 players can only collect what falls on their side. Now you can either farm for one material and do time trials or you can have a competitive match. Playing by yourself is also improved because you're not incentivized to just stay over the basalt since it's not easier to break anymore.
Great game! Could look at adding random TNT drops or even just other mobs like Skeletons and Zombies from a general mob farm. Would mean less gunpowder but could add a bit more chaos
If you made your hole 5x5 you could make the outer rim be glowstone at y=0. Still out of the void but the bottom face of the glowstone would be very bright under there.
For scoring you could do: points = (gunpowder ^ 2) - (Cobble + Basalt). This would increase score for those that are able to both more accurately spleef and for those that are able to last longer on the play field. Plus it makes it funny when people receive negative a negative score for only getting blocks without any spleefs. XD
5:41 What a sight to be-holed indeed. One idea to map toward other void-orifices (albeit a bit time-consuming) would be to dot bedrock holes along the path and replace the bottom most block with a light block.
By now, honestly, you would think I would know better than to eat or drink at the start of a Zedaph episode. Who knew spicy seasoning could travel so far up your sinuses? "....my orifice." LMAO. (literally crying)
26:12 To make it better, maybe paint a target into the lower floor (the one with the water and magma blocks) and make it so you get different amounts of points based on where you spleefed the creeper? you could put dripleaf in the water to register where the creeper falls?
you should talk to mumbo about patenting this system (he's keeping track of his redstone contraptions in a big machine he hasn't built yet lol) so that you can sell the design to the gunpowder/cobble/basalt permit holders to put as minigames in their shop
I love how Zec makes a mini-game out of making a mini-game, the time it took to build and get the cobble generators, the florr could have been it filled it out. As I said, I love it(:
Not building the hole out of purpur was a missed opportunity. You can always add a dinerbonned mushroom cow or two though. Hemerroid awareness is important
Great idea! You could split the collection system in half, and make it competitive by players trying to spleef on their half of the floor. I look forward to seeing what it looks like when the cats are in!
*Creeper Spleef Idea:* 1) Place cats in proper boxes. 2) Have a competition with other Hermits. Whoever dies first _or_ whoever's pickaxe depletes first loses. Consider using an Iron pickaxe or for tougher competitions, use stone, wood or gold. ⛏
Since you get a lot of gunpowder now, you could use it to make an explosive timer. time's up! floor starts exploding and the player falls to his death!
That self fixing floor might be good for a puzzle too! Could hide clues beneath they have to find. Maybe a slower clock to repair the floor to give them time to see the thing.
Creeper spleef looks so much fun! You could make redstone to count the gunpowder and generate a score, then calibrated sculk sensors could deduct points for explosions
It's great out of the box or Zed thinking! Love the game idea. I didn't see any mention of swapping to a stone generator vs. cobble. It has a quickier mining speed, which would be good to help with spleefing the creepers. I'm not sure if it would be as fast as basalt, but much closer to the amount of time to mine. Love your shenanigans, as always keep up the hilarity!
What if you put some water over your orifice? I think a moist orifice would greatly reduce damage, particularly from smashing, and it makes inserting anything in also much smoother and safer. Because it would reduce kinetic damage from smashing your face against the wall, and if anything falls in it can still swim out in the water.
You could hook the game timer up to the same button that dumps the water to redirect the creepers into the game and then the timer could automatically retract the water when the game is over. Also, if you don't have one already within range, you could set up a haste beacon to make mining the blocks faster. Kudos on figuring out how to make a single-player version of Spleef!
In Creef mode, you should build up a "spank bank" of mobs in minecarts. That way, you can have a steadier supply of mobs to regularly drop into the game orifice at the desired rate rather than having to wait for them to splash down into the streams and float their way in. 4 mobs spread around 4 dropholes might be reasonably challenging, and if you don't know which hole they will each drop from it could make for some wild times. Another thing is that while the floor is regenerative there's still always the chance the player gets dropped below. Having a way out would probably be a great idea.
A string with an observer along the creeper water stream - attached to a sound and a counter - will let you know how many creepers come in, and even alert you for when the next ones fall in. Probably a lot of ways you can extend that.
Interesting thing about Chorus fruit... IIRC, they will find the nearest spot to put you, so you can fly way up in the air and then eat a Chorus fruit to instantly TP down to the ground. So, you could theoretically go to any part of the world by flying under the world to the approximately correct coordinates, then eating a Chorus fruit! Even better, what a way to make a surprise entrance to meetings with other Hermits!
Chorus fruit are much better at teleporting downward than up! No chance of getting from below bedrock to above sea level. You can go 8 blocks upwards, at most, and there would need to be a cave to arrive in. Could still be fun, but not quite the same wow factor. The way to achieve a surprise arrival with chorus fruit is to fly too high above the ground for other players to see or hear you.
creeper spleef sounds like crazy fun in muliplayer! trying to both blow other peeople up and collect/hoard as much gunpowder as possible before timer goes off would be way more fun, especially with like 5 or 6 people in that chamber!
Random water buckets going off around the border... pushing the player and creepers randomly around? I like the multiple holes in ceiling idea too. Looks fun regardless.
There should be a timer that counts down until an alarm goes off, and that's when random tnt fall from the ceiling and a skeleton or two pop up to shot at you. This would create moments of high intensity while running away to survive until the alarm stops. Which then covers the skeleton back up and stops the tnt from dropping.
An idea to "light up" the arena: place flowing lava at some points around it. It should keep everything nice and lit, and it's not affected by explosions.
1:29 "this feels so much bigger than a 1 by 1" _No wonder, here's why:_ the player hitbox is 0.6 blocks wide, so to fit through the hole you have to fit the center of your hitbox within a 0.4 x 0.4 block area in the center of the -hole- orifice. (that's only 16% of the 1x1 block area) By extending to a 3x3, you now have a 2.4 x 2.4 block area of wiggle room. That's 36 times the previous wiggle area! It looks 9 times as big, but it acts and feels 36 times as big, that's quite a difference!
Some ideas for the minigame: I was thinking that you use the different pickaxes (or different efficiency levels) as a sort of difficulty level, and have different leagues (Wood-Stone-Iron-Gold-Diamond) you can challengue people to. As for a timer, you could set it up so that it automatically switches of the creeper water flow. If you put some sounds to mark how much time you have left (beep...beep beep...beep beep beep, etc), now you have a nice timer. That was great fun!! ❤
Can fireworks fire in the void? Because that would be an epic welcome when you are expecting guests. For the creeper spleef, could you have a creeper floating down water streams on the edge of the game behind glass? Then ever time it passes over a pressure plate, you can use that to light up a lamp. Either that's the timer or each light is -10 gunpowder and you play as long as you want. Have a high score board!
This thing that you built, reminds me of Minecraft Story Mode, where creepers were falling from the tubes and cobblestone smashed them. But one of the creepers blown up that cobble.
Zed, you are bonkers, and I love it. I suggest that instead of the ladder for exiting the arena, you use an ender pearl stasis chamber that lands you at the chest, with lots of buttons around the arena walls and maybe on the ceiling to trigger it. Not only does this ensure an easy exit in case of the ladder being blown up, it could be incorporated into the score as a time component. A start button could dispense the water and open the drop chute. Probably easier to have a gate at the top of the drop chute that's powered from above, or a block and vertical sticky piston. The exit button circuit not only activates the ender pearl stasis chamber, it stops the timer, closes the drop chute and fires the dispenser to collect the water. It could also expose a cat to repel the creepers back to the hole with the signs. An observed string in the drop chute could be used to start the timer when the first creeper falls through, which could be indicated by a redstone lamp or copper bulb, just to keep things fair and equal in regards to the number of creepers in the feeder tunnel, unless you want that full to begin with. An AND circuit of tripwires along the feeder tunnel could detect when it's full if you want that, or for HARD MODE. Using tripwires allows you to trigger either a normal start off one tripwire hook at the end of the tunnel, or a hard mode start from all the hooks on the opposite wall of the feeder tunnel that make an AND circuit. Sorry for being haphazard with the wording but I'm sure you'll understand the ideas, that just kept coming as I wrote. Keep up the great content ❤
To make the Boom box harder, I suggest to upgrade your creeper farm or add your own tnt in the game with dupers or dispensers. Some extra fun can be done with skeletons which could shoot you or the creepers. And those can lead to music discs which gives extra bonus points!
[Creeper Spleef] Let it sink in for a second before ruling it out: TNT as Ultra-Hardcore-Difficulty! By limiting the amount of TNT you start with, you don't need a timer. And the actual spleef is so much more difficult. The creepers could be killed, you could be killed (because you can't go to far away. Only exact timing will give you success.

Zed, you could give Creepers randomly potion effects. Not sure if speed works but invisibility would make it also much harder :)
Zed! I have a way to fix the kicky sticky! Use minecarts instead of humans!
(for more of an explanation, minecart locations on a server are calculated more accurately than player locations so having a minecart bounce back and forth would work with or without server lag)
Cross Reference: See Boatem CEO Mumbo Jumbo's Meeting Room from Season 8
Yet another wonderful twist on a silly game, cannot wait for this- and seeing more of your orifice!!
I get that you made this farm for getting cobble specifically, but regular stone is a bit faster to mine, which could help the game. You could always provide a non-silk pick for this game if regular stone works out better.
You could make the game last as long as it takes to get a stack of cobble or basalt. That way you're rewarded for accurate spleefage
Would mean less gunpowder but could add a bit more chaos
you could have multiple drop down spots for the creepers so they dont always drop in the center
XD

57 times is WAY more than hole some. It's basically the whole sum!
#maths
"slpeefficiency"=(gunpowder)/(cobble+basalt)
For spleefing efficiency metric.
Invert it for a "Spaminess" high score.
#maths
Right when I was looking if he'd make another episode.
Some Hermits really have impeccable timing!
you should talk to mumbo about patenting this system (he's keeping track of his redstone contraptions in a big machine he hasn't built yet lol) so that you can sell the design to the gunpowder/cobble/basalt permit holders to put as minigames in their shop
LOVE the shift to orifice! MUCH more wholesome! 😂😂
I really love the way Zed thinks and makes jokes. So funny!
I love how Zec makes a mini-game out of making a mini-game, the time it took to build and get the cobble generators, the florr could have been it filled it out. As I said, I love it(:
I choked on my coffee and cried out loud laughing because of the whole creepers are friendlys and then the "Get away from me you Freak!"
I think it's the first time I've ever wanted to play spleef
Multiplayer idea, knock back swords see who can survive longer while trying to knock the creepers into each other.
Good to know Zed is finally gonna link up his crack and his hole
Not building the hole out of purpur was a missed opportunity.
You can always add a dinerbonned mushroom cow or two though. Hemerroid awareness is important
Name idea, ‘Doomed to boom!’
Idk if Zedaph was the one who first thought of this game but damn, really impressive. Literally so well thought 😂
Oooh that’s why you were exploding over and over 😂 I was so curious! Great episode as always.
Haste beacon? Also maybe the creepers drop in all 4 corners so they can get you from behind? Super cool episode!
That intro got me so good I skipped laughing and just cough-wheezed and startled my cats. Great episode!
you could count up to 15 creepers, and that's all you get to score with.
Love the larger and shiner orifice.
Since you get a lot of gunpowder now, you could use it to make an explosive timer. time's up! floor starts exploding and the player falls to his death!
Instead of sheep, suspend 4 animals with saddles on each for an emergency stop for anyone struggling to go up, or if someone out of rockets?
That self fixing floor might be good for a puzzle too! Could hide clues beneath they have to find. Maybe a slower clock to repair the floor to give them time to see the thing.
Such a great idea. Farm three things while playing a game. Good job Zed
The best way to improve the game is make it multiplayer and bring in etho geminitay and tango. Also build a waiting room/lobby.
For spleef: To make it more interesting you could add some floating obsidian blocks to dodge around. Plus, that might help separate up the creepers.
Yet another mind bogling game/farm. Idk how you are not running out of ideas. You are a mad scientist.
Zed videos are always so feel good. Its like comfort food but in video form.
8:16 "this is going to help digging a hole bunch" 😂
What if you put some water over your orifice? I think a moist orifice would greatly reduce damage, particularly from smashing, and it makes inserting anything in also much smoother and safer.
Because it would reduce kinetic damage from smashing your face against the wall, and if anything falls in it can still swim out in the water.
+
Additionally, a way to drop down creepers to explode in his orifice would be a nice way to notify other Hermits of its location
@@StuffandThings_ Exploding inside his orifice may not be very safe though. It could even damage the orifice, especially the sheep.
Love the orifice additions. May be good to cover the sheep fence posts to prevent right clicking
I love you Zed! LOL What a fun spleef game! That is clever! The orifice looks amazing!
Thanks for making me spit out my coffee in laughter in the first 30 seconds of this video. Keep up the good work!
Creeper Spleef, great idea and well executed!
2:39 best joel impression I’ve heard so far
There should be a timer that counts down until an alarm goes off, and that's when random tnt fall from the ceiling and a skeleton or two pop up to shot at you. This would create moments of high intensity while running away to survive until the alarm stops. Which then covers the skeleton back up and stops the tnt from dropping.
An idea to "light up" the arena: place flowing lava at some points around it. It should keep everything nice and lit, and it's not affected by explosions.
1:29 "this feels so much bigger than a 1 by 1"
_No wonder, here's why:_ the player hitbox is 0.6 blocks wide, so to fit through the hole you have to fit the center of your hitbox within a 0.4 x 0.4 block area in the center of the -hole- orifice. (that's only 16% of the 1x1 block area)
By extending to a 3x3, you now have a 2.4 x 2.4 block area of wiggle room. That's 36 times the previous wiggle area!
It looks 9 times as big, but it acts and feels 36 times as big, that's quite a difference!
Some ideas for the minigame:
I was thinking that you use the different pickaxes (or different efficiency levels) as a sort of difficulty level, and have different leagues (Wood-Stone-Iron-Gold-Diamond) you can challengue people to.
