+TwinFami Wondered that myself - whether I play an nes or arcade version - if I touch even the edge of an enemy hit box, I die. He was like plowing through three or four enemies at a time occasionally, AND touching the tanks at the snow field area which is also an instant kill ) like any other hit in the game. Only way I've seen this happen, is on TAS, but he said it wasn't TAS, so I really would like to know how it happened. I want this knowledge for myself :D
@@AdamBarkerThe he said about spike tank in the middle of frozen stage. And about spike trap too. He just jump over it! It like he play as hell bullet game, hit box is very small, but not in contra..
@@nguyenhuyduc9151 sorry man, what are you asking? for the tanks the hitbox does not start until the plate that has the spikes on it. So you can go into the spikes and as long as you don't touch the plate you are fine.
Pretty damn boss man! I haven't played the arcade version but maybe 2-3 times. It is cool how the NES made the last few sections into their own levels This was one awesome run. Good stuff.
Hey thanks a bunch! Yea its a super short game once you know what to do. It seemed so lazy how the end is just a bunch of stages combine but it guess its like a gauntlet with no rest sorta. At first i wasnt a fan of the putting all those levels together but I have lightened up to it. Thanks for watching brosif.
it is the best in the arcade version. spread is better for crowd control and very high dmg up close but the lazer beasts everything with the proper accuracy.
Having never played a lick of Contra outside the NES version ... rife with Konami code cheese ... this blew my mind. I think my favorite part is during the first phase of the first boss at 1:15. I blinked the first time and missed it. The wanton destruction is so freakin' precise! Again, not knowing the subtleties of this version do you feel this run was pretty perfect or were there things you could roll again and shave off even a few more seconds? Badass, dude.
+Polygoing if you want to play a good contra try contra 3 alien wars for SNES, or contra 4 for DS. Great games. im not familiar with this version myself.

+William Grey haha yea man the flips look so silly. I prefer the NES tucked style but I have gotten used to the arcade ones. I love the individual style of the character sprites how Bill has the tank top Blue bandana and Lance has no shirt and Red bandana.
Nice work man. I have the full arcade cabinet and can beat it pretty quickly but this was damn fast. I've found that on the arcade, it's hard to consistently shoot at the diagonal angles. What console was this on?

it's shame that there's too many people who call perfect speed runs like this as cheat... i think using cheat with trying to avoid bullets(and enemies,traps, etc) without practice is much more hard and ridiculous.
congratulations man for the race, a speed run is not easy for those who have no skill and luck in the stages, a failure in the game or failure of the button gets in the way
+John Rosen you have a 2 second i frame window on spawning into levels. tanks just have a deep hit box, the spikes dont kill u, its the platform piece holding the spikes :) it is strange but if i go any further in i would of died.
John Rosen thanks brosif, just practice and you will get it np :D just take baby steps up close to the tanks. i dont think this up close method works on the nes version tho, arcade only.
LoL, I'm like 38 and been playing Contra since it came out on arcade, loved nes version, but the arcade was the best, I think. At one point I owned the contra arcade game from a local arcade that used to be around (as well as Arkanoid), but in my 38 years I STILL haven't mastered it :D

dude, instead of being so negative why not just ask how it is done lol. The run has been confirmed on speedrun.com and I have shown a bunch of other people these tricks, it's pretty simple stuff.

First I will admit I haven't played the official arcade in 20 years, more the Nintendo game, but here is where I question the video. The main two parts that look questionable is at the very beginning where you run past the bad guys. Usually every video game known to man you die or get injured from walking into bad guys. The same goes with the second to last level where some of the metal bars come down that are very close to you and you walk past them. That is where I detect hijinx kind sir.

I wish games as this quality were on iOS and Android...know what I mean? Lol any Nintendo game or sega game would dominate on mobile games..without compromising the controls...I see these games on iOS App Store but they play like sh$t lol

This laser seems so OP when I see you play, it's ridiculous!
Κώστας Λουπασάκης it is insanely strong in this version. although spread gun is still great for squads of enemies the laser is all powerful.
It's always been the strongest gun in all comtra games.
There's something that I don't get. How are you able to run into enemies and the spikes without dying?

Contra was a pretty fun arcade game, but the reimagined NES port was a true classic

i have never played this version of contra but love the nes version all i need is the manual for it to have it complete in box
Its really fun but extremely short once u kno what to do. I love the nes version so much but it costs a lot to get it complete grrrr.
about 4 years ago i got contra with the box for $28 look at it now lol

why are none of the turrets shooting in the first few levels?
on the default/easy setting they need a second to lock on before firing and if you move they have to re-aim.
