There are so many gems in this interview with how Kurt communicates certain phrases, and 26:12 is one of them: "luma talaga ang kaluluwa ko" -- Kurt is too charming with how he delivers these lines. No one else can pull it off.
Tagalog Terms 🔸Halumigmig: Humidity - refers to the amount of moisture in the air. 🔸Maalinsangan: Muggy or sultry - describes hot and humid weather that feels uncomfortable and sticky. 🔸Mahalumigmig: Humid or damp - can refer to both the air being full of moisture (humid) or something being slightly wet (damp). 💠Here are simple sentences for each term: 1. Halumigmig: "Ang mataas na halumigmig ay nagpapainit ng pakiramdam." (High humidity makes it feel warmer.) 2. Maalinsangan: "Maalinsangan sa labas ngayong hapon." (It's muggy outside this afternoon.) 3. Mahalumigmig: "Mahalumigmig ang hangin matapos ang ulan." (The air is humid after the rain.)
Tama si Kurt, humid is somewhat basa Ang hangin which is technically Ang nangyayayare talaga is, Puno na Ng water vapor Ang hangin. Kaya kung maalinsangan, kahit mainit is Hindi natutuyo Ang mga pawis nyo.
Kuya Kurt doing a podcast or ala Jimmy Carson or Fallon is bagay interviewing ang guesting pinoys or what not. That seems a nice format too. Itoda na pagka Marites! 😂
When you're in the Philippines during the summer time, you have to have an umbrella to protect yourself from the scorching sun, it helps tremendously and the heat becomes bearable. An umbrella is a must have in the summer as well as the rainy season there. Love your channel, by the way!!
Mahalumigmig is for cold weather from the root word lamig. Maalinsangan is a better translation for humidity. Fluent is matatas... fluency is katatasan.
Hello Kurt, my family and i are going home to the Philippines, this end of June for a vacation. We plan to have a food trip in Binondo. I suggest you try it, the food there is fantastic. I wish you enjoy more of your stay in the Philippines. Mabuhay.
Tagalog Terms 💠Mabanas -- feeling hot and uncomfortable, usually due to high humidity or heat The air feels thick and heavy, and no matter how still you sit, you can't seem to stop sweating. Your clothes cling to your skin, and you feel constantly sticky and overheated. That's what it feels like to be "mabanas." Example: 🔸Nababanas ako --- (I feel hot and uncomfortable or I'm feeling irritated due to heat and humidity.) 🔸Mainitin ako --- (I get hot easily or I overheat easily)
Hi Kurt i was amazed watching you while you were jn the Philippines and you were awesomely speaking jn Tagalog and you did really great and u seemed kindhearted as well, know how to mingle with people, by the way am helen and i lived here in Torrance California hoep we can be connected in communicating with you. am a fan for your your good attitude toward filipinos
Go to Binondo. They have authentic Chinese-Filipino food for centuries like that of Chinese restaurants in Beijing. Explore the Chinese food heritage of the Philippines.
Kurt you may/may not recognize me I have in the past commented on your TT postings. This setting right here is exactly what I’ve mentioned time and time again. Conversationally no need to use deep words and if you get caught not knowing how to translate a word to Tagalog, totally acceptable to say the English version. Get used to it and you will acquire how many filo in the PH speak. I totally enjoyed this interview. Super galing nila mag interview and you as well. Galing sumagot! We’re not purists in the sense of communication ok to mix our words, phrases and sentences w English. To sound like a local, master the pronunciation and even harder is keeping up w the slang bec our culture is the only one I know whose slang changes or evolves quickly, and frequently. Remember, “hard” and short vowels. Bangus is Bangus bec only 1 “g” and if 2 then it would be banggus.
Musta?! Yeah traveling to Manila helped me realize how much further along I have to go to get to "real" fluency...which is just the ability to speak to a person regardless of their Tagalog/English capabilities (e.g. talking to someone from West Rembo is much different than talking to someone on a podcast)
@@tagalogkurtTrue! nowadays there's a place in Tondo called "UGBO" a neighborhood with lots of stalls & restaurants which is open 5AM up to midnight.😉 check it out! Most foreign Vloggers go there, to feature Pinoy Street foods.
