I find it interesting seeing so many people react to a lot of this game's glitches for the first time. As someone who's favorite game is BOTW, I've been keeping tabs on the news for this game for years so every time something new happened I was always first to know.
It's especially funny seeing my friends react:
me: *performing weapon smuggle in BOTW*
friend: "wtf did you just do? What am I looking at right now?"
me: "oh yeah, no this is normal."

Yea like, this is my favorite game, I hope the community will get bigger once the sequel comes out.
The game will probably have a lot more players in a few month because of the pointcrow multiplayer mod as well!

I just think that it’s really funny that the most replayed part of the video is just 3:38 where the “media offline” error is and everyone just rewinds to see what it actually was. You can learn so much from the video statistics. Also, great video! It’s awesome getting to see more low% content out there, especially for BoTW

Low% in general is notorious for incredibly intricate but stupid strategies no matter the game, I’d personally recommend the hollow knight low% and hollow knight true low% runs, the true low% is by Skurry and it takes over 40 hours. This also isn’t the only Zelda game with fascinatingly low% strategies…

But such runs which use uncommon or "weird" methods are pretty interesting overall because they are innovative imo.
Most speedruns in a single category follow the same path and progression which makes sense, so it's nice to see something creative as low% pop up now and then to mix it up

One thing I find frustrating about dark beast is (to my knowledge) the final blow has to be with a light arrow.
Meaning the master sword isn't allowed to do its one freaking job.
ancient arrows work for the final blow too but yeah the master sword sucks in this game
A master sword beam actually can kill him. In fact, if you have it and manage to maintain full health the entire fight (not that hard) you could use it for every attack. Not as good as stabbing him with it straight up but hey it's better then nothing. And i guess you can simulate that if you throw a beam from really close
I tried ancient arrows but I probably missed or something
As for the master sword I pretty much use it whenever I fight dark beast since getting hit hard but I can never hit the final eye with it. I'd love to see if its possible

You can beat Ganon with the Master sword, Twilight Bow, or Ancient Arrows, too. Urbosa’s fury can hit him even!
Oh I knew about ancient arrows, Twilight bow, and Master sword beams, but I had no idea about Urbosa’s fury! Her anger at being killed by this thing is just too much for the incarnation of hatred and malice lol

It's a shame that even if Urbosa's Fury can have an active flag without appearing in your inventory, you can't actually use Urbosa's Fury without picking up a weapon first. So then, if you gotta pick up a weapon anyways, might as well pick up the one that destroys him reliably and at a distance.

This deserves all the views lmao. I love learning about all of the glitches used in speed runs, and you delivered 100%. I think my favorite part was the explanation of the memory storage glitch-- I've only ever seen any% speedruns and runs that use similar strategies, so learning the new glitch was super cool. Kind of reminds me of the load warping glitch seen in Fallout 4 speedruns. Anyway, awesome video!
ty, if you want to see cool unique glitches i would recommend all shrines or 100%. there’s stuff like scws, ist, item transmutation…
(to translate some of that, scw is Shrine Coordinate Warping which allows you to enter shrines while they're still underground, and I think ist is Inventory Slot Transfer? Not sure on that one)
4:57 also if the launch doesn’t work Link probably won’t survive on base hearts. 3 hearts isn’t enough for Link to survive a failed bomb launch (when he isn’t launched at all)
if the bomb just explodes the yes but if it still hits like like a windbomb would than he will take the normal 1 heart of damage

Great video! I think you could have made it a little clearer that the run doesn't _use_ only one item, it _finishes_ with only one item _visible in the inventory._ That's because the player-defined rules don't count any of the items you pick up in previous files in order to get to that point, and they also don't count flags which allow you to use an item without having it in your inventory. By the only in-game completion counters, you could pick up as many items as you want because it effectively only counts map and quest completion, but the people who were working on low% basically created their own definition of the category which they thought was better and more interesting. Those might be important details to mention for people who don't know anything about low% challenge running, or this game.
I'm also curious to know if this category has changed at all in the last three months. I think I heard somewhere that someone since found an easier way to get the bow of light, but I might have made that up.
1. these rules were chose because the other option was spend hours killing boss with bombs which is boring 2. the easier way to get the bow of light isn’t used because it transfers more than one item
@@fyucci Yeah that makes sense about the rules, I certainly wouldn't want anyone to attempt to kill Calamity with bombs. I just think it would have been better to make it clear how arbitrary the rules of the challenge often are, and what that means here. And thanks for answering the question, that makes sense too.

I've used memory storage to get the bow of light on a new file, but I never thought of using it to get dark beast ganon on a new file. Awesome speedrun!

Great video! I was wondering how you could beat Thunderblight with just Bow of Light and no shield, but I see that doesn't enter the equation.
thunderblight and calamity are currently not possible without the use of a sword or shield
@@fyucci If you have good timing and/or updrafts, you can shoot Calamity Ganon in phase two during the handful of frames when he's vulnerable, instead of parrying or flurry rushing. If you have the Ancient Bow, you can shoot through his shield by using bullet-time, but that isn't relevant to low%.

This is why it's in the Dark Beast Ganon fight and (normally) not accessible otherwise.

Hey, not sure u'll see this, but I saw that around 4:47 there was a video error. I had that happen a couple of time in Davinci and ended up with the workaround of first rendering the project and then making a new project based on that render, so that I can fade in a blackscreen in time. It's a bit janky and there's likely something better out there... but maybe you'll find this useful! great vid!

I really enjoyed the video, I liked how much effort was put into the research and how you explained each step. I do have 2 things to pick fault with though, I personally didn't like the way you were talking, it sounded like you were speaking quietly so no one woke up. The second is that you used Mario themes for most of the video, I personally think some up beat Zelda soundtracks would have been better. The Mario themes took me away from the emersion of the video if that makes sense. Overall, great content, you've earned a sub from me. Keep up the good work!
And now, we have an easier, less softlockable, more corruptive flag transfer that moves items between files.
(You can die in Mem Storage, just look at saves, menu, start, intro, Eventide, leave.)

The bow of light can be replaced by the master sword or twilight bow, both can hit the weak points, exce0t the master sword can't hit the eye

Does it really count as a "low%" run if you still have to collect the items when setting up for your "final" save? I guess it depends on whether you count the first and second saves as part of the run, or just pre-run setup. But at that point, if those saves don't count toward the run, then why start timing before the 3rd save?
Actually, now that I think about it a bit more. If all you care about with regards to it being "low%" is the final item count on the "completed" save, then it doesn't really matter how many other saves you go through to get there.
you’re not allowed to start a run where you have a glitch that persists through saves active so we start the run and then perform the glitch that persists through saves during the run because that is allowed

Is there a way to keep the bow of light after the Ganon fight without having to transfer it to a new file? I like the file I have and don’t want to delete it
yes there’s a new glitch called IST that can do that for you
This is a great video and also I know this wont effect low precent but you dont need the bow of light. You can actually damage dark beast ganon with ancient arrows. I know this wont change low precent but it is cool non the less

You say they flags are way without obtaining the runes etc. So the items in question appear in the inventory screen? I think it make more sense to judge low% by what's in the inventory than by what's collected on that save.

This was very interesting, but I am ngl at first I was thinking that you were going to hack the game or something to start with the bow and use that as your only weapon against all the Blights and Calamity Ganon (not sure if that is even doable as I don't know if the bow does anything to other enemies)
the bow does 100 damage to every enemy but thunderblight and calamity both have phases that a bow cannot do damage on

If you want to stretch the definition, and also do it without cheating, you could use a single bow and a stupid amount of ancient arrows
if you are “not cheating” that means you have to get a lot more items and kill the blights and calamity with mostly bombs

I kinda wish calamity ganon wasn’t such a pushover, especially in phase 2. Like the 2nd phase took me like less than 30 seconds to beat 2nd phase. Kinda disappointing knowing this was the big bad that almost destroyed all of hyrule and took control of the divine beasts and guardians.
beating the divine beast also lowers its health by half which makes it significantly easier

I guess it's "only one item" in the sense that you tricked the game into believing you never obtained any other items. But I was kind of hoping this would demonstrate someone somehow getting off the plateau without anything and glitching past all the Ganons.
all i did was start a new game with a few flags set and got the bow of light

Is there any 1 save file low%? I don't know why, but using items, even if it's in another safe file rubs me a bit weird. Maybe I'm just a hater, idk. The safe file trick is genuenly really cool tho, especially it being as hard as you say. I would 100% not be able to pull that off
1 save file low% would just be pick up nothing on the great plateau besides runes, spirit orbs, and glider. then going to castle and bombing the blights to death (using some other weapon for thunderblight and calamity)

Enlighten an ignorant, but how is this low percent? To get the memory skipped save files you require the use of a lot of items, items that may not exist in the new file but were used to enable the run. If runtime begins at the start of the first save file, wouldn’t all items found technically count to the total? If the time begins at the start of the last save file, would that not invalidate the speedrun by discounting all that happened beforehand? Even the f it didn’t, would this run technically be the fastest any percent and low percentage given how quick one could take down ganon?
Regardless, this run still holds the record for glitch black magic percentage.
time starts on the first file but only items on the last file count. this glitch is performed through glitches save files so it would not be allowed in any% unless you started the timer before the final file like in this run
I'd like to see an actual run with the least amount of items possible, well like I mean no glitches

this is the most high quality video abt low percent i’ve seen, you go over all major glitches but make it easy to understand to the casual players, you really are underrated!

@@fyucci you can skip plateau using IST and transfer the bow of light, yes you have to kill ganon again, but you have a really op bow. And setting it up is a thousand times easier and you need way less materials.

So, since the speedrun starts from the start of a new save game, this is the fastest way to beat the game

This is a perfect illustration of lying, removing them from your inventory doesn't magically mean you didn't use them. Nor did you start a true new file as otherwise the setup wouldn't be needed. You used multiple items to beat the game and are part of the required process to beat it this way. It is not currently possible to beat BotW with a single item.
It is possible to beat it with only a single item in your inventory at the very end of the game.

not without having a bow and arrow to achieve bullet time which adds 2 more items
