- The last time the Wallabies won the Bledisloe Cup it was 2002! Can the 2024 vintage take a step towards regaining it? A tall order...here's my thoughts ahead of the showdown in Sydney.
As a Saffa... I agree totally with your sentiments about the Wallabies. It would be a tragedy for rugby Union to fail there. PLEASE Aussies... sort out your shit and come back with a vengeance.
Completely agree... every Australian I have ever met are amazing people.. but in rugby, we always want 'that' team and Ozzies are.. I want to, want to, see them as the enemy because they are good... I don't want to pity a Wallabies team... please Australia Rugby... pull yourself towards yourself
Trues up.. 2 little resources are spread too thin across League & Aussyrules
We are trying. But at least one whole state is totally disillusioned after our franchise got axed/went into administration
Thanks fellas. Unfortunately the issues run so deep here - it'll probably take at least a decade before some of the issues are addressed well.
Probably the best we can hope for in next 2-3 years is to get back into top 6 in world rankings.
I heard someone say that nobody has ever tweeted about Australia winning the Bledisloe Cup.
wow. Love that
😂 Myspace didn't even exist back in 2002
😂
My favourite meme on this topic is the image of someone putting a VHS tape into a player with the title written on it - The last time the Wallabies won the Bledisloe
cant wait for john kirwan on the breakdown if aussies pulled off a miracle
First 25 seconds deserves the like alone. Thanks for great rugby content!
Can't wait for the Premiership to start. Last season was brilliant!!
@@coldpete even with the doom and gloom it was such a good season game to game. Outside bath and Newcastle it’s so hard to predict 2-9
think you have a copy paste issue ... this is about The Rugby Championship :)))
@@PhillipDawson10 I know it’s the warm up game for the prem no worries it will be Friday night soon
They don't want to admit it but having 10 teams in Premiership is better than 12!
McReight’s return to the lineup is a huge upgrade to what the Aussies had in Argentina. He brings skill and a lot of bite.
It’s a shame to see the game dying in Australia. Hopefully there will be a resurgence. 🙏
It's too far away. better have a strong Italy than Australia 🦘
It certainly is. I'm a kiwi and I think a weak Australian rugby landscape is ultimately bad for New Zealand rugby as a whole.

Need a strong Aussie team hosting the next World Cup!! That should encourage greater interest and more funding.
Oz been bleddy slow winning the cup. 🥃🇿🇦
That nickelback impression though😂
Thank God I was able to cross "Tim sings Nickelback" off my Bingo card. Woop Woop 🙌🏻😅
Of course we are presuming Razor remembers that he has a bench
Should be an easy win for the ABs - but would like to see Ausies do well.
Sacking rennie for jones was a big fumble

Ill be watching the Prem and I am a Bath supporter. Ever since Butch James played there. Been a big fan. Also the city and stadium is cool.
Singing is another avenue you could consider. Good coarse voice. Somewhere between Bryan Adams, Rod Steward, and Joe Cocker. 🤣🤣🤣
Rod any relation to Freddie?
Hi Tim, it's boring in South Africa at the moment. We miss those daily videos.
Time don't you want to make a short video of the current log. And your thoughts on how it will look after this weekend and next week the same.
Your 12 points are not so sure it will not be that low. I think we are going to look at 30 plus. NZL can beat anyteam at any moment. Please keep those videos coming. You by far the most like English man in South Africa.
I think schmidt should be able to run at least one of the games kinda close. He's very familiar with the AB setup, even considering the new coaches and systems, and I'm sure he'll have been targeting this fixture. Hopefully at least one of the games will be entertaining
With Fraser McReight back, and hoping Bell and Tupe can go as deep as they can, it should be a good one if the real Aussie side pitches up. Nick Frost also very underrated, so hope they can put some pressure on NZ to make this a close one.
Rugby Union might be third choice after Aussie Rules and Rugby League in Australia, but Aussies are winners as a nation. This poor run of results in Union might just galvanize them to improve. I hope so.
And they produce incredible athletes
Nobody doubts Aussies passion for sporting success. As a kiwi I've seen it and sometimes suffered from it for 50 years. And no I'm not just talking "underarm" here. Unfortunately at the moment rugby is on the back foot as they don't have the money that League or Aussie Rules have to spend on marketing or coverage. The $4 million pay-out to Israel Folau didn't help. Neither did fielding 5 squads in Super Rugby Pacific when they realistically only had the player depth for 4. Lots of difficult decisions for the people that run the game in Australia. As a kiwi i would love them to be successful . memories of Campo , Nick Farr Jones , George Gregan etc. New Zealand rugby needs Australia and Australian super rugby teams to be competitive.
TH-cam wasn't even invented when Aussie last won...
Australia has never had massive depth, so the OS players are critical to the Wallabies in my view. Rugby is a 23 man game more than ever and having the likes of Skelton Arnold starting in 2nd row, and Samu Swinton Phillips coming off the bench makes this a much more formidable team. Not forgetting a fit Kerevi at 12.
Yeah we are missing Kerevi!
Mark my words, Wallabies will shock everyone and win this weekend !
Hey Eggchaser. I'm aussie and a WB fan. Rugby in Aust is stuffed. It's on downward slide and won't recover in my life time. The WB 23 for this Bled 1 game has massive weaknesses. None of Williams (lock) Wilson (no 8) and Paisami (centre) are test standard. The bench is very poor. Tupou is only good for 40 mins. Slipper/Alan AA are now too old. ABs by 40 points plus imo
I fear your pessimism is totally justified! Hard to see a way out
I agree re likely recovery timeframe. From another Aussie 🫤
Whilst I am not a fan of Australia I do agree with you that world rugby need Australia to be better. They have to sharpen the pencil for both Lions series and WC in 2027!
Given the state of the Wallabies rebuild transition period and the complete lack of cohesion with combinations this should be an easy win for a far more settled All Blacks side. If they do not win by at least 14 points I would consider that as a loss. I know this may come about a tad negative towards Aus but I am a Aussie just being realistic.
Australia has so many good athletes that union should be able to do well alongside league and Aussie rules. It's the administration that hasn't been good.
Use your bench Razor!! 🤣
THIS IS HOW YOU REMIND MEEEE 🤣 the man Tim
The wooden spoon joke doesn't make any sense. The spoon would be awarded to the loser whereas the trophy goes to the winner...
As a proud Kiwi...
I've always wanted to see D.Mac or Perofeta at fullback (the other as impact reserve) and Beauden at 10.....Procter and Jordie in the Midfield (Deadly for the Hurricanes 🌀 in the Super Rugby this year).
Rieko on the wing with Clarke and W.Jordan on bench as impact reserve.
Ardie @ 7...Setiti @ 8 and Papalii @ 6.
❤🤣💯🇳🇿 UP DA MIGHTY ALL BLACKS 🇳🇿💯☝❤
NZ rugby public are not impressed not because boks are far far better but this coach is playing the same players over and over and he’s crippled by fear . He will not pick form players from Super Rugby at all . This centre pairing for example are not up to it and haven’t made a single break at all for years . Billy proctor is the real deal and doesn’t even get a crumb ; people have had enough here with the cliches about learnings etc .
This theme of Razor being a little timid is recurring. It is clear he didnt trust his full 23 in the SA games. I think he should be throwing caution to the wind a bit more. I am surprised at his stats so far. I exepected much more from him.
I think the Ausies can be in with a shot. No pressure on them to win this game everyone has already condemned to to a loss. However AB's will be under huge pressure to win this game against a presumably weak Wallabies team. If the Ausies can stop them from getting a fast start, be in there faces, slow the ball, tackle like men possessed, chip at the score board keeping it close with 20 min to go they might just pull it off. The AB's have struggled to score in the final qaurter this year. This will build the pressure on the AB's even more and with pressure comes mistakes. Dmac missing a kick to take lead in CT, Baudie missing a couple of kicks in 2018, Jordie missing a crucial penalty in final minutes at RWC final. (Whilst these are all games v the Bokke, I am just mentioning them to show that the AB's also make mistakes when under scoreboard pressure.
Once the 2 starting props for Australia, Bell and Tupou come off...that scrum and forward pack will crumble and NZ will run away with it in the 2nd half.
NZ by 20+
Secret is out, Tim is moonlighting in a Nickelback tribute band. 😝
to be fair... He never made it as a wise man
@@CJ_McK Haha, classic! Thanks to TH-cam he doesn't need to be a poor man stealing ...
Very sad to see Aussie rugby in the state it's in, but if South African rugby's rise from the absolute doldrums post-2017 tells us anything, it's that their problems CAN be fixed! 🤘
No. The dynamics in the Australian contact sports market are very different to South Africa. NRL (National Rugby League) and AFL (Australian Rules Football League) absolutely dominate - NRL in NSW/Queensland and AFL everywhere else. Rugby union in Australia is a niche sport mostly associated with wealthy private schools.
For context, the NRL generates about AUD 700 million annually and makes a tidy profit (about $58M last year), while the AFL is now generating over AUD 1 billion annually. Rugby Australia''s annual revenue is in the ball park of AUD 120 million.
@@Hiltokwell said and I agree - from another Aussie
With regards to the Lions tour next year, I believe it's going to be a landslide win for the Lions 3-0. It will not surprise me in the slightest if they win all three tests by 25+ points. It's going to be a bloodbath unfortunately.
Nope. Oz will win the first test then poop the bed in the next 2.
Was waiting for this. A great AB side, Aussies going to get thrashed in the scrum when they bring on the two pensioners of the bench in Slipper and Alalatoua
😂
Australia will surprise the world. Not a supporter but something crazy is going to happen...😂😂😂😂
Agree with you
Agreed on your Aussie picks for the combined team.
Sport is amazing, anything can happen. A soft try or two for the Australians could give them energy, lets hope its close and classy hard rugby.
Can you imagine if this form of the game died in Australia? It would definitely affect NZ negatively. Let's hope they get their act together and once again make the southern hemisphere the dominant one.......or do we replace Australia with Argentina?
Technically - the winner of the RC wooden spoon would not also win the Bledisloe.
AB’s bench front row is 400kg’s, Taukei’aho (much better hooker than Aumua) adds an extra 10kg to that when he’s back from injury.
Concerning that, other than France and Ireland in November, the New Zealand players competition for the 9 months involve Australian rugby including Super Rugby. They have to start allowing players to get harder opposition experience and select overseas based players.
Clarke over Koroibete any day of the week. I'm a South African Bok fan.
Someone needs to take Koroibete aside and teach him to tackle correctly. IMHO
koroibete when he was good was damn good
Very good at dangerous, flying no arms shoulder barges anyway.
He (Korobiete) has become a liability for yellows these days. I also see him running around looking like he is not sure how to fit into the defence plan. Seems to be playing way below his potential

😂😂😂😂😂Good show as always man.
Don't like Jb and Reiko playing centre.
Salakai-Loto is on the bench so he can come on fresh when the reserve props come on. He's our best tight-head lock (excluding overseas players) and will add some needed grunt behind AAA who has been struggling and will add a good tight carry when Tupou and Bell go off. All that said, I still think the AB's will dust up our scrum late in the game with Tamaiti Williams and Tosi too strong for Alaalatoa and Slipper.
White and Noah need to be on point with kicking game
Hahaha the Nickelback rendition! Creed next, go on do it 😀
I think the Ausies might just do it this weekend. Playing for pride can make all things possible

Tim, your Nickelback impression is almost as bad as Nickelback.
I'm fine with Australia falling off, other teams are coming up. The WC 27 will be fine because its a world cup but yeah unfortunately the Lions teams may suffer the brunt of the Austrlian Union downfall.
Tim, I have a challenge for you for 2025: The women's WC is in England AND the England team is ranked #1 in the WORLD. What about promoting the women's game next year?
If you do come down to Australia, and make it to Perth,I would love to buy you a beer and have a chat.
a wounded team lets hope for great rugby
Aus bench is grossly inferior and I would take Caleb Clarke over Koroibete any day. He managed to miss 2 tackles in a single try vs Argentina
Australia are going to feel like they won the game if they only lose by 12 points, Tim. 🤣🤣
To win the Bledisloe you have to beat the cup holder 2 from 2. So it’s hard to win and easier to keep. When was the last time England beat the ABs twice in a row in a series? You basically have to be early 2023 Ireland or current SA level to win the bled if you aren’t the holder.
Aust. might be more compeditive against as what many anticipate. SA did not have runaway victories against them. They could be a lot better at home than as away against Argies. On paper their pack is quite good and J Schmidt would have payed a lot of attention to their defence which was quite good v SA.
That is as good a team, without Skelton, as they can pick. I hope they can get a win against the ABs, not betting on it, but that is a good team. Aus aren't that bad, just so short on depth. Angus Bell is a beast!!!
Hey Tim. Good comment. NZ by 12. The Aussies will love that. Double that. With interest. Aussies going to be eaten. You think they need a come back. The AB’s having lost twice in SA need a big performance. A statement. Get out the klippies and coke Boet. It’s going to be a hammering.
Fun fact: If not for Nickelback there would never have been a Slipknot or many of the so called "better' bands. Nickelback was paying the bills when the record company was very close to bankrupt. You did it well though! Can't wait for the Wooden-spoon Cup or is it Bloody Slow Cup?
Tim can you sing more nickleback please
Stevan gerad back in the days
Australia's drawback is Nick White !!!!
Ausie for the win, NZ losing their marbles blaming a poor SR would make my day... but NZ by 18 for me
No Bobby V? Not because I want to see him play, I just want Tim to say his name haha
AB's have their best tight five and wingers only , Bodie should be first five, Brown , Proctor the back line , Gordy with his big boot at fullback , McKenzie on the bench, Don't agree with loose forwards or the bench of loose fiorwards
Tim, how many karoake nights do you do in a month? 🤣
What a voice! 😂
Wgat about Bell and Frost as well ?
If the A B do not have competition, they will also sink.
Lions ticket prices are off the scale, as a Pommy blerk living in AU I'm not financing AU rugby,
The Polynesian islands feeder leagues for NZ, working well by the looks of it …..👀

Does Razor have issues with Telea? Fozzie seemed to like Telea over Clarke, now it's the other way round.
Caleb has simply had a great season
Clarke has been better this year
Telea is a problem child within the team.
And while he's as slippery as an eel when running, he's much weaker in the air than Clarke.
Caleb has been injured
@@LittleBigMediaCo I never observed that, he did really well during the World Cup. The commentary in my language called him a Catfish. 😅😅😅 The man is slippery, but I heard that he keeps violating curfews. He's still young though...lots to learn.
once bell and tupou come off the aussie scrum will fall to bits and the ABs will walk all over them.
Depends if you were born before or after they won
I don't think you understand that despite what the Africans think Australia are New Zealand's greatest rivals. Always have been.
Why doesn’t Will Skelton play?
My money is on Bok & Ausie wins this weekend
Korobeite is terrible and behind Clarke and wouldn't have a chance against Talea.

Tim.... Nickelback is making a comeback.... just sayin..... 🤫🤫🤫🤭i think AUS wudve learned a lot from this RC and by now most of Schmidt's defensive tactics would or should have dropped .... the team should also have a good idea of the physicality it requires to win matches in this RC. so if they pitch up in that way and keep their defense organised and rushed(you cannot let NZ run at you willy nilly) then they can cause problems for NZ. i still select NZ for a win tho
