    After watching squillions of your epic rides, I never knew there's a wee station there. Keep stopping and looking both ways, mate, just in case!!!!

      Nor me, I always saw the ungated crossing and never noticed that it is actually a "Halt"

    On the Craven Arms to Llanelli line is most certainly in use with a timetabled service as well as non-Passenger traffic.
    Before retiring I worked on that line at least once a years operating the recording kit on one of Network Rail's track inspection trains.
    I will add that it is a beautiful run and well worth a journey!

    FYI for those who are unaware: Look at the tops of the rails, if they're shiny it means those are regularly used rails but if they're rusty then the line at the very least hasn't been used in a while and the line is likely out of use but may just be very sporadically used.
    If you're really curious, there's plenty of railfan websites that list the lines in most places on the globe and whether they're active or not.

      Yes but Paul crosses here so often that he's polished up the tracks all by himself 😁

    Used to help out at the Scottish Railway Preservation Society in Bo'ness. I like the steam myself but there's a few that follow these oil burners.

      Yep. Nearer to a British bike roar than the deltics . Deltics have the unique drone sound. Came from same plant. Vulcan foundry at Newton le willows. 18cylinder 2 stroke. 3 crankshafts. Anyone interested just search napier deltic engine. They were de rated 50% for the locos for reliability as they are very complex high power to weight ratio.

      @@TheFilwud Well said!
      Surprising how many people see the nose bulge of a 37 and, for some reason, think DELTIC!! They have obviously never seen a real Deltic!
      Ran into Harwich on an OLE inspection run some years back and one of the spotters on the commented, "OOH! We don't get many Deltics down here!" and got most upset when I responded, "Bollocks, it a Class 37, not a Deltic!!

    • @sapper82
      @sapper82 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@christopherwhite5210 If you look at the nose bulge, which houses the compressor by the way, and the cab windows, the Deltic nose is much larger and has a more squared off appearance resulting in MUCH narrower window.

    • @highdownmartin
      @highdownmartin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Deltics have two windows. EE type three ( class 37) has three windows.
      37 and 40? More subtle, count the wheels

    This reminds me when the family were on Holiday near Lampeter , my oldest sister stayed at home for the first week , then got the train from Harlow to Camarthen and a taxi from there, she said she didnt want to risk the bit to Llanwrda knowing there may not be a taxi. 1972 ish

    Memories of my trips to and from Hereford Station, Herefordshire, to Paddington Station in the City of London, in the 1940s, via the Malvern line, or the Gloucester line, (little trace now remaining!), on the Great Western Railway, with their Steam Locomotives (GWR 6000 Class, King George V)! The smell of steam and hot oil, and hot cinders in the eyes when looking out of the windows! A much cleaner world now! Take care, all!....😀...😀...!

    I wonder if they are the same Pullman Coaches that pass my back garden in Kent from time to time. Mostly they are hauled by the class 37 Diseasels, but sometimes we get steamers pulling them, including the Flying Scotsman a couple of months back.

    • @sapper82
      @sapper82 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Are you sure they are hauled by Deltics? The loco in the video may be an EECo product, but it's a Class 37 with single a 12 cylinder 12CSVT four stroke engine, not a pair of 18 cylinder opposed piston two strokes.
