King Og of Basham is a good example of a giant becoming King. Many don’t know Goliath had a brother whose name was Lahmi. Other named giants were IshbiBenob, Sippai also called Saph, and unnamed Giant with six fingers and toes ❤️ VANA

I'm learning things I never knew possible. Brother Barden challenge me to listen to this and scripture gem's, every week for the entire old testament. It's very enlightening. I wish the Savior would come back now!!!

Many thoughts to ponder. The reminder to follow the prophet while we have peace is powerful. I also will keep the thought that God is great. Thank you both for teaching us!

After studying Hugh Nibley's books and the book of Enoch many years ago, I felt the impression "now you understand why it was so necessary when God commanded Israel to completely destroy particular wicked nations and giants following the Exodus after entering the Promised land. I had always thought it strange that the Old Testament said so little about the giants. I'm not sure if this is correct but I finally understood why God destroyed the world, by flooding the earth and beginning anew with Noah and his family if the story of the Watchers is correct. For me, this knowledge gave me further insight intothe Old Testament and it became extremely easy to understand.

At the beginning of each episode we say, “for show notes, go to talkingscripture.org” - so if you go to that site, scroll to the episode you are listening to, click where it says ‘show notes,’ you should be good to go!

I think in many ways our Latter Day “ Noah” has called us to safety when clouds may seem far off “Now, as President of His Church, I plead with you who have distanced yourselves from the Church and with you who have not yet really sought to know that the Savior’s Church has been restored. Do the spiritual work to find out for yourselves, and please do it now. Time is running out.” Basically, get back and or stay in the boat, it’s about to be a bumpy ride!

Thank you for providing us with the many ways scholars are looking at these verses and therefore helping us to gain deeper insights and learnings, while at the same time reminding us in many cases these insights can help us build our faith but are often not what should define our faith. Great episode! Thank you so much!

You said what I feel as well in my heart. I'd echobyour whole statement. Thank you both for sharing what you Dom really appreciate the back history and what's taking place. Really shows me that God will use any tool that He can to teach eternal principles with what people can understand and relate to according to their time period and situation.

Personally, I don't think the flood was any more localized than the second coming and the burning will be localized. I have always understood the earth was fully baptized in the flood and will be baptized by fire at the Saviors second coming. Localized flooding doesn't connect to me. But, there's a lot I don't know so maybe something more will be revealed that broadens my understanding.

As a visitor to Joshua Tree National Park, CA with an altitude of over 3,000 feet above sea level in some places, I have walked on trails which have traces of conch and other seashells way up there in the high desert! Hmmm, I wonder how they got there?!

I found the insight on the number 8 fascinating! Do you have more information or resources about it? THANK YOU!

There are several books that address the symbolism of numbers in sacred texts. For Latter-day Saints, I usually recommend Alonzo Gaskill's book "The Lost Language of Symbolism" - see: www.amazon.com/Lost-Language-Symbolism-Recognizing-Interpreting-ebook/dp/B00462RVHS
He has a whole chapter on numbers in this book to get you started. He is a scholar, faithful Latter-day Saint, and fellow religious educator. He is a kind soul, and a lover of symbols.

Interesting enough that passage of scripture referring to the word being a sword, a compass, etc .. as you read it I began thinking of imagery and when I heard you say "across". I also v saw the word of God as a bridge. It is the word of God that bridges the gap between heaven and Earth.

I’m confused about the Nephilims. They were the bad giants that fell from Heaven? Were they part of the 1/3 that followed Lucifer?
Lucifer’s followers had no body, so how did they mate the fair daughters of men and had an offspring, If they were only evil spirits?
Or did they fell from Heaven as full grown giants? Having never been born from a mother here on earth…
    I’m lost on this one.
    Please clarify and Thank You.

    • @speciallady96
      @speciallady96 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

This is a thought o have had also. Who is to say that Noah didn't start in the Americas and end up in the middle East after being in the ark....i mean Adam gathered his posterity at Adam ondi ahmen before he died.... And after the flood once the division began... The Jaredites came back to the Americas... The Lord is always bringing his people back...

The question for me (Mike D.) Bryce, is this: did she mean Adam? Or Noah? Either way, my answer is: we didn't talk about specific locations.
