    Yes, advantage plans have a lot of downsides. But some of us can't afford medicare prices. My advantage plan is free. I get free groceries, and over the counter stuff. The bad part is you don't get a primary care physician. They are all nurse practitioner. That can be a problem. Some are better than or equal to a licensed physician but they're few and far between. I don't have co-pays as long as I stay within the network. I get free medicine, free specialists, hospitals, etc. Some of us are poor.

      Thank you for sharing your perspective on advantage plans. It's true that they can have some downsides, but it's great to hear that your plan is providing important benefits like free groceries and over-the-counter items. Access to primary care physicians is definitely an important consideration, and while nurse practitioners can be highly skilled, we understand your preference for a licensed physician. It's also wonderful that you don't have co-pays as long as you stay within the network, and that you have access to free medicine, specialists, and hospitals. Economic circumstances vary, and it's important that there are options available for individuals who may be financially disadvantaged. Thank you for providing this insight.

      I understand that navigating the world of Medicare can be overwhelming and frustrating, especially when it comes to costs and coverage. While premiums and deductibles can be high, it's important to remember that Medicare is designed to provide essential healthcare services to a large population. However, it's crucial to carefully review and compare different plans to find one that best fits your needs and budget. Additionally, there are additional programs and resources available to help individuals manage their healthcare costs. Don't hesitate to reach out to a Medicare specialist or counselor who can provide personalized guidance based on your specific situation. Remember, you have options, and there are professionals ready to assist you in making the best Medicare choices.

    Also, doesn’t one have to submit to underwriting after they initially pick a medicare advantage plan?

    • @MedicareonVideo

      Hi there! Thank you for your comment. When it comes to Medicare Advantage plans, most plans do not require underwriting during the initial enrollment period. Generally, you can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan without being subject to medical underwriting. However, it's important to note that if you decide to switch to a different Medicare Advantage plan or switch back to Original Medicare, underwriting may be required. It's always a good idea to speak with a licensed professional or your plan provider for specific information regarding underwriting requirements. I hope this clarifies things for you. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask!

    I have original Medicare. If I need dental and vision, is it best to get Medicare advantage or what do you recommend?

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Reply:
      Hello! Thank you for your comment. If you have original Medicare and are looking for coverage for dental and vision, there are a few options to consider. One option is to enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan, also known as Part C, which includes benefits for dental and vision along with other additional coverage options. Another option is to purchase a standalone dental and vision plan to supplement your original Medicare coverage.
      The best option for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. It may be helpful to review different Medicare Advantage plans available in your area, considering the extent of dental and vision coverage they offer, as well as other benefits they include. Additionally, researching standalone dental and vision plans can help you find a plan that suits your needs.
      I would recommend consulting with a licensed insurance agent or reaching out to Medicare on Video for personalized guidance in making the right choice for your situation. They can provide you with more detailed information and help you understand the pros and cons of each option. Thank you again for your question, and I hope this helps you in your decision-making process!

    I received help with my Part D premiums and the federal sent all my info to the state to see if I qualify for QMB assistance. I have not received anything from them. Should I contact them or just hope they will contact me before I turn 65 in Dec 2023? Will I need to apply for Medicaid also?

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for reaching out and sharing your situation. It's important to take proactive steps to ensure you receive the assistance you qualify for. Since you haven't received any communication from the state regarding your QMB assistance, it would be a good idea to contact them directly. They can provide you with an update on your application status and guide you on any necessary next steps. As for Medicaid, it's best to consult with the state agency or a professional who specializes in Medicare to determine if you need to apply for it in addition to QMB. They can provide personalized guidance based on your specific circumstances.

      Hi there! The decision regarding Advantage plans versus Original Medicare is an important one and should be based on your mother's specific healthcare needs and preferences. While both options have their advantages, Advantage plans offer additional benefits and often have lower out-of-pocket costs. However, Original Medicare provides more freedom in choosing doctors and specialists. It would be best to consult with a Medicare expert, like Keith Armbrecht here at Medicare on Video, who can provide personalized guidance based on your mother's unique situation. They can help you compare the options and make an informed decision. Hope this helps!

    Should I consider adding a Medicare supplement if I have regular Medicare + Tricare for Life?

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Reply:
      Great question! Adding a Medicare supplement plan can still be beneficial, even if you have regular Medicare and Tricare for Life. Medicare supplement plans, also known as Medigap plans, can help cover some of the costs that original Medicare doesn't, such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. While Tricare for Life already provides excellent coverage, a Medigap plan can further enhance your healthcare by filling in any gaps and potentially lowering your out-of-pocket expenses. It's always a good idea to review your specific healthcare needs and compare the coverage options available to you. Consulting with a Medicare specialist can provide valuable guidance and help you make the best decision for your unique situation.

      I'm sorry to hear about the difficulties you're facing with your mother's Humana plan. It can be frustrating when primary care providers and insurance plans don't align. They may be able to provide guidance and resources to help you navigate this situation. In the meantime, it might also be helpful to document any communication you have with Humana, so you have a record of your attempts to resolve the issue. Hang in there, and I hope everything gets sorted out soon.

      Anybody can get a supplement when they first sign up for traditional Medicare, with NO underwriting. It’s only after that first year on Advantage that you’re stuck with Advantage for all time. One can always downgrade to Advantage, but you have a limited time to upgrade to traditional Medicare with a private supplement.
