    Age 64 now and am so overwhelmed by the entire idea.
    Didn’t know where to start and glad I am starting with you.
    I know next to nothing of Medicare. As I recall, it was all one plan when I was a child, then apparently, at some point, it all was privatized. And that’s where all the confusion started. Am I correct there?
    Seems to me original Medicare is the way to go, but I take it there are many many forms of that. True ? Where and how does one start with that when everyone is trying to sell Medicare advantage ?

    I am approaching the magic age but not ready to retire. I thought I had it all figured out, but called Keith and his team (Hi Julia) to make certain I was on the right track. They asked me a few questions and immediately told me where I had missed a key decision point causing me to defer both A and B at this time rather than just B. It is mired in subtlety and Keith and his team are top notch. I will absolutely use them in the future, but I can't say enough good things about them.

    Just remember that the “under $300 per month” is for an individual. For my wife and I, we will pay substantially more than our current group plan but we will have medical coverage. We also have to come up with a vision/ dental plan.

    • @MedicareonVideo

      Typically just the employee gets contribution from the employer. Spouse usually pays full premium. Either way less than $300 a month for full coverage insurance is a bargain in my book! -Keith

      Medicare on Video sorry that I was a bit unclear. For the two of us, we will be around $600 per month with original Medicare plus supplement plus part d. With my group plan for two people, it was about $350 per month. But with Medicare, our coverage will be much, much better.

    My dad's Medicare begins when he turns 65 (in a couple of months) and plans to stay with Original Medicare. I looked at his Medicare Enrollment details and it says the monthly premium is 0 for both Part A and B. To my understanding, I know Part A is usually free and Part B has a cost, usually around 170 per month. In my Dad's case, it's basically free for Part B. What's the catch? Is there some kind of hidden fee where if/when he gets service, he's going to get a huge bill? My Dad is from CA if that matters.

    Keith, at 3:17 you mention that an employee with good health insurance at a company with 20 or more employees can defer enrolling in Part B without penalty. However, the Employer Coverage Form on your website (Form CMS-L564) makes no mention of the "20 or more employees" stipulation. Is there an additional form on which the employer certifies that the company has 20 or more employees?

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rich!
      Unfortunately it is a gray area. It would depend how the employer files taxes - I assume based on a UTC-6 form. If less than 20 employees then Medicare is "primary". It's a tough scenario for people that work somewhere with 15-30 employees. I do have a video talking a little more about it - you could search "still working" -Keith

    Your comment at 10:13 suggests that Medicare Advantage plans have a limited network. I live in Minnesota where up until recently we have had not for profit health care insurers. Consequently the health care system here is different and Drs. are used to working with health plans that don't pay as much. If you go with a Medicare Supplement in Minnesota you are paying substantially more for coverage than if you chose a Medicare Advantage Plan that will likely have little or no impact on the doctors and prescriptions you use. I would add that each market is different.

    • @MedicareonVideo
      @MedicareonVideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dean!
      I do understand and you are correct - Minnesota IS different! However it does still put you into a network that the insurance carrier has set up. Where I see the most issues is with folks that travel a lot. In any case it is significantly more limited than original Medicare that has no restrictions on doctors and hospitals anywhere in the country. Hope all works out and you stay well in these crazy times. -Keith

    Im turning 65 this year, i still work part time and don't qualify for insurance so I'm on my husband's insurance through his employment. The catch is that his insurance requires the spouse to use another insurance if it's available for me but how would that work for me? I'm receiving social security but do not know what I'm supposed to do with my part A and B ? From how i understand it, that i will have to take both, in which my husband's insurance will be primary and Medicare secondary. Will you give me your insights on this.

    If I want to live overseas at the time I turn 65, but still have option to get Medicare when I come back to US to live permanent , how do i work Medicare?

      Hi Wayne!
      Yes but it's a little complicated. You would be Medicare eligible when you come back but would likely have a penalty on your Part B. If you don't take Part B when you're first eligible you would need to have creditable coverage to not have a penalty. If outside the US you would not have creditable coverage. Hope that helps! -Keith

    Thank you for this video, very informative! I sold Medicare plans back in 2005 - 2007. Curious if Medicare changed a lot since that time like the rest of the health insurance industry? I am trying to help my Mom, and am referring her to your channel for sure! Any info is helpful!

      Hi Josh,
      I was not in Medicare back then so don't really know. I would think it's pretty similar. -Keith

    YOUR AWESOME. SO KIND FOR YOU TO DO THIS FOR FREE!!! I’m a widow since I was 52. And lost everything. I don’t have any money to get supplements. But do I really need to get part B? I am not qualified for medicaid and I can’t afford to pay any money for part B. Is it mandatory to get part B? You say it is only $300 but some people can’t afford even $100 extra, like me. Thank you for your knowledge it’s very helpful
