Has half Italian I’m sorry to say that it’s not Rossini’s style... too serious and marshal. Rossini loved joking and wasn’t so rigid and formal in musical executions. In my very modest opinion it should be much more free as time, played more for fun than technically. In this way Rossini would be happy. This style is perfect for Verdi, Wagner and Puccini, but not for Rossini.
you are correct in that Rossini loved joking andit reflects in his music but I don't agree this performance lacked the lightheartadness that Rossini liked. interpretation is a choice and for me this is a good performance
Loved the Walter Carlos version on Clockwork Orange. Made me come and find this excellent Brass version. Well done Cory.
