    Very interesting Jeremy. I have never used a milling machine before, but they look like a very useful tool for a variety of applications. Thanks for sharing! .. Nathan.

    Even if you’re not a knife maker, the mill is essential to ones shop. But you don’t know it until you get it. I don’t even know what I’d do without mine.

    Thanks for the very informative video. Ironically I am a millwright as well but hardly any experience on a milling machine. The other ironic thing is we both have very similar 10x22 lathes. I bought lathe from busy bee in Calgary. I am now shopping for a small milling machine right now so it was good to hear from someone that can give me an honest review on one of the machines I was looking at and explain some of the limitations way better than a salesperson could do. In addition to the 10x22 lathe I currently have one of the combination lathe mill machines but want to get rid of it and go to a dedicated mill.

    This is a great tool for folding knife makers.some amazing maker use them. You don’t need to hog off material when making a folding knife, so no need for a 1ton mill.

    Igaging DROs are a great addition to any mill. Will fit on any mill with some thought. On my Harbor Freight mini mill.

    Can you do a Tool Time Tuesday on your drill press? Why you use the one you do. The kind of bits you like best with it, etc.

    Hope you would describe the red clamps (modified C-clamps?) holding the vise in the T-slots. Thanks

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Dunc yeah. They are basically just small ones that the previous owner installed and tightened once the vice was centered. With them being super tight, and the fact that they are a song fit between the t-slots on the table, it aligns the vice when you out it in. It looks like he just lightly filed down the sides of the clamp to get it to a nice snug fit. Cheers👍

    Does the toolsteel you'r using rust?

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Matthias Nitschinger it will if I leave it laying around after it is humid or gets wet. I use a lot of WD-40 around the shop just to prevent rust on my tools and steel that I'm not using. Cheers!

    Why can't we just screw a desktop milling machine on a 100kg iron block to increase the overall weight ?

    • @JordanHaisley
      @JordanHaisley 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      莊亮 you can, if the machine is rigid enough, that would be the next problem, followed by motor power, then bearings.
