A guy in my neighborhood had this massive koi pond filled with beautiful Showa Koi. I loved walking by the house and watching them whenever he wasn’t home xD he eventually invited me to come and learn how to care for them and so I spent most of my summer caring for them. They are such beautiful fish. They’re honestly like living art.
My two favorite fish guys - Shawn and Eric! Thanks for the information...I'll be visiting Mystic Koi this spring looking for a nice addition to my pond...maybe an "old school" Showa?
Both look like Old Style Showa. The new style showa are known as Kindai Showa with more white than hi and sumi. The 'old school' koi identified in this video could be even considered as the new style showa (kinda showa) while the new style showa here is actually old style. Old style vs new style does not refer to the checkered or stripes pattern.
I think that I am really liking the Doitsu Snake or showa. Oh ya, I want to know, what ie the name for koi which are partially scaleless or are they a drop out to the get the Doitsu.
I think that you have already answer my question. I asked that because the one I have seen here in Mauritius, do have some scale on them and all the doitsu which I seen in your videos so far don't seen to have scale at all, which support the name scaleless koi.
A butterfly video is not high on our list at this time. The Butterfly Koi is a beautiful variety of fish that is very popular. Interestingly the Japanese breeders are not big fans of this variety. At this time we are focused on the history of Koi and what varieties are most honored by the Japanese Culture.
that showa is probably a fortune why do awesome things gotta cost money what happen to the trade barter system. I wasn't born then but still. I want a koi... all of them

I've never been a Showa fan. I might have to rethink that now after watching this. Wow!!!
How many showa koi do you plan on adding to your pond now that you've had some time to think it over?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Many doitsu do have some scales but are still called doitsu.

Old School Showa looks far more refined.
You should do a butterfly koi video
