- Hello Disney fans, and welcome back to another video. Disney movies have, for the most part, always had a common factor. Their princesses. Almost every Disney movie has a Princess as one of their leading characters. The idea of being a Princess or Prince has captivated many young children, and perhaps, this is one of the reasons that Disney is so popular. In today's video, we are going to discuss five Princesses and a couple of things that you may have missed about each one. Before we begin, do you know which Disney Princess is the ONLY one who isn’t a literal princess by blood or marriage? Stay to the end to see if you were right!

Another fun fact: Aurora is the only Disney princess with actual blonde hair. Rapunzel has genetically brown hair, it was just blonde because of the golden flower magic. Elsa has white/platinum blonde hair and Cinderella actually has strawberry blonde hair.

@@thelordnaevis4946 strawberry blonde is classified more as red hair color not actually blonde. Platinum though could be classified as either white or an extremely light blonde color.
Mulan facts: I knew already that Mulan was based from a myth and that Mulan wasn't a princess by blood.
Jasmin facts: I thought everyone knew that Jasmin wasn't the main character of "her" story
Jasmine may not have been the main character but is very important in that movie nonetheless

You know even when I was little I knew Aurora wasn’t the main character in Sleeping Beauty, I also knew it was the fairies. And now that I’m older looking back at that movie the things that come to my minds aren’t like dressing up as Aurora or singing along to her song, no no no when I think back to this movie, Flora and Merrywheather’s fight over the dress color, Fauna baking a cake with the sentient ingredients, and the fairies rescuing the prince. Those fairies did all the hard work faising Aurora all by themselves with no magic, rescuing Phillip, putting everyone to sleep until Aurora work up, and let’s face it they did like 70% of the work to defeat maleficent but don’t get enough credit for it.
I mean...we didn't need to guess when you showed Mulan the moment you asked about it...
Well, this is indeed the problem with all Sleeping Beauty retellings and movie adaptions. In fact, the Disney movie is based on the ballet adaption of it. In Tchaikovsky's ballet, Princess Aurora has some technical highlights, but her part of the story is even weaker than in the Disney movie. Aurora would only appear on her birthday party, when four princes proposed to her, and then she would prick her finger on a spindle hiddne in a rose bouquet, then she would appear in the prince's vision, then after her awakening, she returns for the wedding dance. (The good fairy was danced by the choreographer's niece and so, there is no wonder that this was the big part (;).
It is actually interesting that Aurora got more focus, even if she would not speak in these scenes.
It is emotional, when she is crying, you worry for her, when she is hypnotized by Maleficent, and it is lovely, when she embraces her mother, and then she is dancing happily ever after with her prince.
I guess that the Disney story was also influenced by Tchaikovsky's opera Iolanta, which is also a kind of Sleeping Beauty story (the original story is based on King Rene's daughter).
*When you realise, Mulan has a quite possibly bigger body count then Frollo.* 😬
From cultural point of view, Mulan is still a princess of her bloodline. Even if it's not quite the same as a royal princess, being an eldest daughter of a nobleman (even poor provincial one) is still pretty close.

I did know they added a third criteria for Mulan to become a Disney princess. She is also a part of the rare few Disney princess to actually wear pants in their movies. Which I stan for, cause I would love to see more princesses in pants.

There was one scene where Shang smiled at Ping, and that's literally it. He gets noticeably more nervous and shy around Mulan after he finds out she's a woman.
The actor who voices Shang is gay in real life (BD Wong) so I think that's why ppl take it and run with it with Shang.

Fun fact: The Disney movie ‘Mulan’ represents our past as women, women had to dress up as men to join the Civil war. Mulan is represented as all the women in the Civil war, and the war that is happening in the movie, is the Civil war
