    VERY well explained, James! I'm sure this will help a lot of people who want to get the most out of the model - and you've now taught them the radio skills and concepts they'll need if they're going to add the thrust vectoring as well.
    I would encourage anyone who is doing these mixes to assign them to a switch, rather than being mixed "ON". Just in case they don't like it, or if something is going the wrong way and they don't notice 'til they're flying.

    Regarding trim inhibit, that is a matter of preference.
    And in fact, for thrust vectoring, it is important to leave trim inhibited, so you don't mess with your thrust line vs surface mixing. Thrust line needs to be tuned using sub-trim directly on the TV channels, and not depend on pitch/roll trim for the aerodynamic control surfaces.
    For my part, I think I will prefer static trim on my canards, and leave trimming to the elevons only - but that is mostly a matter of preference. For TV it is really not

    1. Instead of rolling the wheel from one polarity to the other, it’s much quicker to hit the clear button first. This will set it to zero and then you can roll in the new value.
    2. Subtrim should be used to set the servo arm perpendicular to the pushrod. Once that’s done, adjust the linkage to center the control surface.
    3. If the plane required trim to fly straight, adjust the linkages so that you can return the trims to center. Otherwise, the servo arms won’t be perpendicular to the pushrods like they were in #2 above.

    Now this is not including the added TV upgrade, did you need more mixing for the TV? Great work James. I saw you had the TV on a switch as well. I was wondering if you got it on a 3 position switch that you can have 2 rates?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We will have a seperate TV mixing video coming. This video is just for canards in the standard stock PNP setup. But yes, the TV is just 2 more mixes, one servo mixed to Rudder for Yaw, and 1 servo mixed to Elevator for pitch and we put both mixes on the H switch. We didn't bother with rates on the TV, just had it on 2 position for full-on, or off. That video will come next week.

    • @janmb
      @janmb 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      TV mixing will look very similar: One from elevator to TV pitch, one from rudder to TV yaw. Direction is straight forward, TV should move the same direction as the elevators and rudder respectively.
      Important: Make sure you have trim inhibited for those two mixes though, you do not want regular elevator and rudder trimming messing up your TV thrust line.
      James, please make sure to cover that explicitly in that upcoming video.

    Excellent explanation of how to properly set this Model up! One suggestion, why not place a llastic lip around the hatch openings on future releases to help preserve the paint around the edges?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All comes down to cost and logistics. To do that requires another separate plastic injection mold to be made, then another space in the assembly line to attach them etc, etc, etc.

      @@MotionRC I totally understand that. I was just making a sugestion to help the Modeler keep Thier Investment damage free where We Always seem to suffer damage from every flight usage. Keep up the Good work on these Models.

    Hello, was wondering if anyone has programed the JAS-39 on a JR 9503...and how that went? Still have to build mine but was wondering on the programing since I have never flown a delta/canard. Maybe Motion can make a video on that. Thanks

    • @MotionRC

    Couldn't you instead of just putting the mix to "ON" change it to a switch and be able to turn on & off the canard function during flight. Also did you run any kind of Gyro?

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We didn't bother with a gyro for this one and you can surely put each mix on a switch if you want to turn them on or off. But this is how it should be flown, turning it off is not how we recommend flying it

  • @robinsamuelsson5569

    maybe you can use a dx6. 6 channel or you must have more channels

    • @MotionRC
      @MotionRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The only way a 6 channel would work on this is if you y-lead the canards into one channel. But doing that will only allow them to work in either the pitch or the roll, but not both. You want 7 channels to gain full control
